We camped with some friends in the neighboring spot and it was a perfect setup. At the same time, had we not had friends neighboring to us, I still would have felt like we had plenty of space between us and the next site. We didn't visit the lake at all as there isn't really direct access from the campground itself, but we were okay with that. The only things that prevented it from being a 5-star, was the fact that there were no dumpsters or trash cans in the campground itself (had to drive to the boat ramp, which didn't make much sense), and the dump station filled up as everyone headed out so only those who got out super early were able to dump. The dumping situation didn't impact us as we have a large tank and were headed directly to another campsite where we could dump, but our friends had to find somewhere along their route and pay to dump which isn't super convenient. Overall, was a really nice laid-back spot for a relaxing weekend at the campsite and would visit again.

However they took our name and cc info and said that they would not charge until the day of . Also, we were told that they have an abundance of jet ski's so we didn't have to reserve for that . Fast forward to the Friday prior to our arrival we were told that they were a boat down and call in the morning to see if it would be fixed and available. Called Saturday morning and was told no boat for us ..sorry . My response was why does it matter , we have reservations so we should have 1st dibs on all Of the boats they have available . They said that the boats were given to those who paid in advance . Major lesson for us planning however that should have been said during the time of the reservation . Or making their policy clear !!! We were told , we don't accept payment until the day of !! So I guess locals have an advantage with in Person bookings or their system is not up to date to take payments over the phone. Who knows but they were horrible. However, after all this happened we asked well if the boat is not available , do You have any jet skis ? They said they were all reserved !!! But over the phone during the initial reservations we were told that they have an abundance of jet skis and they do not do any reservations on those . We lived there about five months while my husband worked at the plant.. And by the way, my husband has nothing to do with this review. I'm about to write.. I have pondered on it for a month.. Let me explain. I have been sick for nearly a year, I have liver disease. Sometimes I can barely walk and sometimes I'm laid up up in the bed four days. I didn't have no insurance at the time so I ordered my medicine online as it was cheaper. We were told that we could have our mail sent there to the RV park. Now I'm not saying I'm not wrong in this. I have my wrongs.. We moved in about June.. Problem started immediately. I could be doing nothing and still he had some attitude and talk to me like I was trash. He just built a new place for the trailers to park well one time my husband just got off work working 10 hours and another rig was pulling in so my husband thought well I could go take this road. It'll be fine. Its not a big deal.. (again we meant no harm) A couple days later, I went to pay our rent and Keith laid into me for my husband taking that dirt road that he didn't know that he wasn't supposed to take. Instead of going to the man, he treated the woman a sick woman like crap. This is where I will admit I was wrong. I want to say October 30th I got a notification that my package was delivered a.k.a. my medication. Normally, Stephanie or whoever will take the mail from the regular mailbox and put it into the mailbox under the cider tree. I hadn't ate in three months and I am crying while writing this review. I got a notification that my medicine was delivered. I know that you're not supposed to go in anybody else's mailbox or whatever but I was headed out to put gas to my truck anyway and it was on the way now before I got there. I texted him no answer., I called him no answer so I just stopped at the mailbox, my package always comes in a little brown envelope. I seen my little brown envelope. I gently pulled it. I didn't pull anybody else's stuff out.. I got back in my truck and I left to go get my gas, not even two seconds later, he was calling back my phone. I explained to him who I was, and what was going on. I was chipper and smiles when I answer that call. I explained to him what I did Word for Word for what I just told everyone of y'all. He like nobody's business. I am a woman. I was desperate. I would have never went and got my mail if I wasn't just so hungry, but I couldn't eat. I knew as soon as I took the medicine that I was going to be able to have an appetite again.. Every time I try to explain myself to him, he cut me off. He was so mean and so ugly. I'm not that person I don't go looking for trouble. I'm not a thief or a liar.. And you made me feel like both that day. Even though I knew I didn't do anything intentional.. Who do you think you are yelling at another woman? Someone else's wife? You are blessed my husband is a changed man. I did not really think it was gonna go that way. We hung up but not without him saying we will deal with this later first and I went to the gas station and cried for 15 minutes. I don't think he would have ever talked to my husband or any of the roadie hands at that park the way he spoke to me. We got an eviction notice about a month later. Why didn't you give me the eviction notice that day or the next day if I was so horrible why'd you wait a whole month? We didn't even wait the entire month. We paid our rent for November and we left November 14th.. We had till November 30th and you have yet to refund our payment for that two weeks. I did not recommend anybody, especially a woman going and staying at the park. Keith, the way you spoke to me was disgusting. I told you that I'll tell you now, I meant no harm. I am not that person that goes around looking for trouble. I don't know why you hated me and spoke to me the way you did but God bless you. I see you a church going man too. You probably should be the first one at the altar. Thank you for causing more problems for me for something I did not even realize was gonna turn into something so big. Is this how you talk to your wife? You are a sad excuse for a man, much less than business owner. Now I know why people video record everything because if I would've knew what I know now I would've recorded that conversation and how you spoke to me. Have the day you deserve. I suggest you refund the two weeks you owe us. And furthermore, he couldn't even deliver the eviction notice to my husband, he had his little helper Stephanie another woman do it and by the way, I'm not saying anything bad about Stephanie to my face. She was great. You are a coward my friend and I hope you never get any more business from a real roadie hand. But you owe us two weeks. . Again, thank you and have your day.

The owner of the park comes up to him and asked how our son is doing, then hands him home made pound cake and said he is praying for us and our son. If you are ever in Forsyth, Georgia please stay at L&D RV Park. The owner's are new and have big plans for this park and with a heart as big as theirs I know it will only get bigger and better. The sites are pull thru with 20/30/50 amp, sewer and water. They have a pool, laundry room, and very clean bathrooms. A covered picnic table area, and grass area to walk the dogs. Very quiet and friendly people.

PERSONAL STORY You see, when I was 9 years old my dad took me on a fishing trip. It was my 1st fishing trip ever and it didn't go very well. I caught most all the fish and although he never said, it seemed to upset him and he spent the remainder of the trip intoxicated. I made a promise to myself that someday when I had a son I would take him fishing and give him a better experience. My father gave us a great life, but occasionally alcohol got the better of him. I was 30 years old when he died. My sisters and mother were too overwhelmed with grief to get up & speak at his funeral, so the delivery of his eulogy fell into my hands. Forced into overcoming my resentment for his years of drinking (and my years of embarrassment), it was only then that I realized alcohol was the one flaw in a genuinely likable and hard working guy that got along with everyone. To him providing a home, groceries, education and life's necessities was being more of a father than HE ever had... and I wept. I still weep to this day with sorrow over my young and foolish attitude. I know now the pressures of living up to not only others expectations, but your own as well (especially when you don't feel capable and sure of yourself). I often think about how he must have felt as a young father doing the best he could and not have his only son appreciate him. I never gave much thought to it before and unfortunately for me my appreciation came too late. I couldn't hug him or tell him I'm sorry for not valuing him. So instead I've try to honor him by being the best father I know how to be. THE EXPERIENCE I have a good friend whom owns a wonderful property on Lake Oconee with lots of lake frontage. He gave me a set of keys to go spend time at his cabin anytime we want and one weekend we decided to make use of his generous offer. It was our first family fishing trip and we caught a total of 6 catfish over three days of fishing. Pretty pathetic huh? LOL The highlight of the trip came on our last day at the lake house. After spending a day on the lake only having caught a few small fish, my son was determined to hook a 'big' fish all by himself. He stayed on the dock for over two hours patiently waiting for a nibble. We were sitting on the porch of the cabin when all of the sudden I hear "DAD, DAD!" As he walks uphill from the lake with a plastic container, he sets the container down and grabs his fishing rod (still attached to the fish). I could tell it was a significant sized catfish by the bend in the rod as he lifted. He was so proud to have caught the biggest fish and we celebrated by skinning all the fish and cooking them for dinner. We finished the evening under the stars eating ice cream (even though it was a little too cold outside). That was 4 years ago and still one of the best weekends ever. We've also spent summer days here BBQing and just enjoying the lake with our friends. Most of my pics are from one of the residential coves where the water is a little more murky and shallow. FINAL THOUGHTS Lake Oconee was created in 1979 when Georgia Power Company built Wallace Dam in Greene County, Georgia. It is a wonderful place to unwind and disconnect from the busy-ness of life. There are excellent opportunities for boating, fishing, camping, antiquing, dining, shopping and historic sight-seeing all around the lake. In addition you can go geocaching, rent lake charters, tubing, jet skiing, kayaking and attend festivals. I will forever be grateful for the fun times we've had as family building memories on this lake. Remember to take time and honor those in your life this Holiday Season, even if they haven't been the person you wanted them to be. Maybe, just maybe they did the best they knew how.
