The breakfast was also surprisingly good with breakfast pizza and biscuits and gravy on top of your typical continental breakfast fare. Overall, I don't think you'll be disappointed, especially for the amazing price. If I find myself in need again, Cedarberry will be on the top of my list.

We stayed for a long weekend, and and it was the perfect location to get away. The rooms are all themed so when you call to reserve you can pick from the rooms they have available. We stayed in Unit 2, the Devil's Lake room which had photos of Devil's lake. The room included a mini refrigerator, coffee and tea, and alarm clock if needed. Right outside your door they have chairs and tables for enjoying the beautiful weather. They also have grills and an area for bonfires. I was only able to go to the communal area/lobby for the first morning as it was soon closed as they were started to do contactless check in/out. But it seems as though in less COVID-y times they have some coffee or tea there, light breakfast items like mini muffins or breakfast bars and fruit. They also had a communal puzzle and board games. Overall the place is super cozy, perfectly situated for a relaxing vacation with a number of restaurants and small shops to visit in Baraboo.

The room is small but adequate for two people. It is nicely decorated and had a small reading nook. There is a small private balcony. The muffins provided for breakfast were yummy! We only had a couple of issues. The first was that the bathroom sink is located inside the room. I'm sure this was necessary due to the limitations of restoring a building this age. Our main complaint was the loud music that was played in the afternoon. I am not sure if this is a regular thing or just rude guests, but it was loud enough we could not rest after our long drive. If this was just rude guests, I can put it down to "people are people." If this was, however, a regular afternoon thing for the Inn, I would suggest the music be turned down or that guests booking Room 1810 be forewarned. All that being said - we think the Inn is a great asset to Mineral Point.

I did not expect the owners to treat me and my wife like honored guests in their own home, but that's how it is. Very interesting husband and wife team who are very skilled at making a rich experience and tailoring the visit to your interests. The coolest part of the stay for me were the happy hours that Dave hosted. We had a lot of fun swapping stories with Dave and other guests who were also up for some good drinks. Breakfast was also pretty awesome. The manor is a beautiful campus that exceeds the verbal description and pictures. Lots of richness in the back story can be gleaned from conversation with Dave. To be honest, we werent looking for a bed and breakfast or a resort like retreat since we came to do some hiking, do some leaf peeping, and do some tourist stuff with a friend. By the time check out came around, we wished we budgeted more time relaxing at the manor. Definitely plan to book here again next time we do a Wisconsin vacation.

The owner's Dave and Trudy were so much fun! They helped us pick and make reservations at an amazing supper club and local brewery. The breakfast was great too! Dave was always happy to take photos for us and fill our wine glasses too! Both Dave and Trudy kept us laughing all weekend long. I stayed in the Birds Nest room. It was very charming and well appointed. I loved the binoculars that were in all the rooms so you could watch the birds and other wild life on the grounds. There was also a hydro spa tube in the private bathroom which was so relaxing. Overall a fabulous place for a getaway! This was an amazing girls weekend! We are planning on returning next year!

Which is so important. Two slight problems that may be specific to the room we were staying in. The padlock on the door was pretty touchy. It took us at least three tries to get into our room each time. I would've much preferred a card key. The second problem we had was the volume on our TV. It didn't work properly. It was very loud, but you could not turn it down, nor could you turn it up. We're pretty tech savvy and we could not figure out how to solve this problem. And since there's no one on site, although the ladies were very good at getting back to us quickly, I didn't feel like walking into an empty lobby at night to try to grab a remote. That was the solution. That being said, it was a lovely stay. And the two women who run the motel are very responsive if you have a problem.

When I first saw the listing with the excellent reviews and history of the house I felt this would be a fun place to stay. After spending the four nights my initial feeling was right on. This was the perfect place for our family to stay. Kathy greeted us when we arrived and helped us figure out where to have dinner that first night. We stayed in rooms 10 and 11. Those rooms have their own private bath and are on the second floor. It was as though we had a family apartment. The adults room had a king sized bed and the children shared a queen. Their room had a scavenger hunt within the stone walls, which they really enjoyed. After dinner the boys played table tennis and pop shots basketball. Kathy also treated them to an ice cream cone. Very sweet. There were also plenty of board games to play in the evenings. Breakfast was yummy and coffee aplenty! They do offer WiFi, but no screens, so it is easy to bond with your family and have some quality time together. This location was within walking distance to the swimming pool/park and Pendarvis (which is still closed). It is about a half an hour drive to House on the Rock, Cave of the Mounds, and Taliesin. Lots of fun side stops on the way to any of these places. Kathy is an awesome cook. We feel so fortunate to have met her, Dan, and Bobby Jo on our trip. Mineral Point is a beautiful town and I thank them for preserving and sharing such a wonderful Wisconsin landmark with us.

I recently stayed at the Gonstead Guest Cottage. My partner and I wanted a quick getaway and…read morerearranged our vacation schedule to accommodate Gonstead's 2-night minimum stay . This was the vacation spot I was most looking forward to and the one I was most disappointed by. The best parts? 1- Mt. Horeb is an amazingly wonderful small town we will be sure to return to. 2- The radiant heat throughout - no cold floors. 3- An iPod with 6,000 songs hooked up to a nice stereo system. Our beef? At $110/night, we strongly feel the Gonstead Guest Cottage is overpriced. We resented the 2-night minimum stay once we got there, and hated learning that we would be charged $10 to use their wood (we got a cord of wood from the gas station down the street for $5). We thought the price would guarantee us a nice stay. We were sadly mistaken and will not stay here again. Yes, clean (if you overlook the cobwebs) but you can't escape the strong smell of smoke from the fireplace. No problem, right? We'll just air it out. Sadly, that's not possible as the owners removed the hand cranks from the windows. Yes, they have bikes for you to use, but no air in the tires (even after promising to remedy this). Yes, they have a full kitchen with nice cookware but if they are charging so much it needs renovation. We'd also been told there would be cereal avaialble for us but nothing was there. We did love the town and will be back to visit it. We'll just seek alternate accommodations next time :) As a frequent B&B customer, I know my money should go further than it did here and am sorely disappointed in my stay.
