I normally stay with friends when I come to this area, but I found myself needing a place to stay for a wedding. I had heard about this place and it did not disappoint. Sure the furnishings are very retro, but everything is well maintained. The bathroom in my room even looked as if it had been retiled somewhat recently. I actually sort of prefer the "dated" feel as it's cozy and like home. Some of the ultra modern hotels just aren't comfy and I don't sleep well. The pool and hot tub are great. The breakfast was also surprisingly good with breakfast pizza and biscuits and gravy on top of your typical continental breakfast fare. Overall, I don't think you'll be disappointed, especially for the amazing price. If I find myself in need again, Cedarberry will be on the top of my list. read more

We decided to get out of Milwaukee for a night and ended up getting the recommendation of the Sauk City area from friends in Madison. We were planning on doing some hiking and site seeing and meeting friends for dinner at the brewery down the street, so I knew we weren't going to be spending a lot of time in the room. So I looked for the cheapest thing I could find...within reason, of course. The pictures made me a little wary - everything looked old. But it looked doable. The staff was super friendly, the room was very clean, the bathroom had been updated and the pool and jacuzzi were FANTASTIC. Also, that recliner they talk about IS very comfortable...as was the bed. We'll definitely stay here when we pass through the area again. read more

I do not recommend staying in this Hotel. While the appearance is cute and clean as a whole, everything in the room was wet and smelled musty. The carpet felt like walking on moss and the towels were so wet they felt like they were used and folded back up. The toilet paper roll was so wet it was as if it had been dropped in the toilet and then put in the holder to dry out. My family members staying in other rooms complained of the same issues. When I went to the desk to get towels and t.p. that we could actually use I was met by a very sweet woman who just kept saying she was sorry. The next morning, when I checked out, a man I believe to be the owner was behind the desk along with another employee. When I told them about our room the man just turned and walked away. In early November (2023), my wife and I decided to make a spontaneous trip to the Dells area as the weather was perfect and we had a little time to make the trip. We wanted to enjoy Ishnala, the Crane foundation, Circus museum, the boat rides, the clown hall of fame and the trolley tour. We found out that each and every one of these attractions closed the week before...and for the "season". We "assumed" and fate sure had a fun time with us accordingly. But as is often the case, we made the proverbial "lemonade" and had a great time anyway, just driving around, taking the ferryboat and visiting some friends. But we also wanted to mention that we stayed at the Cedarberry Inn in Sauk Prairie. We have stayed there for over 15 years in the past and saw a decline that culminated during the pandemic and stopped going because of that. However, I can tell you that the Inn has made a 180 degree about face and it was magnificent. They completely cleaned and refurbished, replaced and upgraded virtually everything, while still maintaining all that was historically the quality to be experienced by its patrons/guests. The Cedarberry Inn is back and you should take the family and see for yourself. The pool and especially the hot tub is sparking clean and the morning complimentary breakfast was great, as was the staff. Kudos to Ken Myers, the owner, for investing and restoring the Inn to a very much higher level of customer enjoyment, while maintaining the ambiance that makes it a favorite for travelers to the area. read more

I am so happy that I have had the opportunity to stay here twice! This is a well run establishment, and I have been very happy with my stay. The room has been clean and orderly from day one, and I have come back each day to a room that has been our careful attention. They never miss little details, great job housekeeping staff! THE POOL IS OPEN! The staff truly wants us guests to enjoy our stays there. They warmly say hi whenever we see each other. This sets the tone for the pool area to be family friendly and pleasant. This is a destination vacation for me when I want to get away from Madison, but not spend a lot of time and money doing it. read more

A very sweet hotel in the Sauk City area. Close to many attractions such as Wollersheim Winery and Devil's Lake. Our room was fairly priced and we thoroughly enjoyed the in-room hot tub. The bed was comfortable and the decor in the hotel is quite charming. There is a large pool, hot tub, and game room available. The only reason I knocked off one star is because the continental breakfast could have been better. Frozen waffles and french toast? Not great. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The staff was friendly and the hotel was nice. read more

We stayed at the Cedarberry Inn in Sauk City for the annual Bald Eagle Watching Days event. Having stayed at high end hotels around the country, I have to say I think the Cedarberry Inn is the cleanest hotel we've ever stayed at! Everything throughout the hotel was spotless. The "king suite" room was large and nicely appointed, and the bed was comfortable. A free "expanded" continental breakfast was included, and was very nice. And to top it all off, every staff person we met was friendly, cheerful, and helpful, We will be back! read more

We've stayed at the Cedarberry several times because it's the only hotel in town. While the receptionist is always polite, the hotel in general has a very old, musty, feel to it. Our rooms have always been clean, but the occasional insect or mold growing in the shower has put us off. We think the $110-$130 they charge on some weekends is an absolute rip off. Perhaps our biggest complaint is the complete lack of respect. My husband, newly returned from Iraq and Afghanistan, drove 8 hours to spend the weekend with our family in Sauk City for Memorial Day weekend. When we checked into the Cedarberry, we inquired as to if there was a military discount, which every other hotel (including in other countries) has offered to him. Not only did the Cedarberry refuse, but when we asked to speak with the manager/owner, we were told "No, he won't speak with you regarding this." We felt horribly disrespected and dishonored, especially on a holiday weekend that is dedicated to veterans. We have been treated with more respect in hotels in other countries than in the Cedarberry. Even a 5% discount would've appeased us. Overall, I wish to God there was someplace else to stay in Sauk City. It's overpriced, disrespectful, and not exactly the cleanest place. read more

Cedarberry? I don't even know her! I'm not exactly sure what s cedarberry is, but I can tell you that the Cedarberry Inn is a very nice place to stay indeed. Conveniently located by the Natural Bridge State Park, Devils Lake State Park and Wisconsin Dells. It has a game room, a nice large pool, hot tub and game room and the rooms are clean, a good bargain too less than ninety smackaronies will purchase yall a room for you and yours with a queen sized room. I found that the wall mounted hair dryer severs perfectly well in drying out your athletic recreational wear that has been soaking in Wisconsin lake water brine for the past 48 hours. Five stars from your Frank Z on this one. read more

It is a nice place to stay when we want to get out of town for a night or two. We love the large, warm pool. The only downside to the pool is that local residents come to swim and expect guests to stay out of their way. Seems a little rude as we are guests paying much more than they pay to swim. Upon arrival about a week ago the lady at the front desk, Tiffany was extremely rude and unhelpful and very unprofessional. Spoke with hotel management and although he was apologetic he didn't seem to be too upset. He offered nothing but an apology, with the amount of times we stayed it would have been nice to have him take a little off the bill or something to show that they really cared. I'm sure we will be back, but will watch how we are treated if it's bad again that will be it. read more

I would have given this hotel a three star rating if it wasn't for the rude, unprofessional desk clerk. We arrived in town with no reservation and few lodging properties from which to choose. After finding mixed reviews on social media, we decided to ask to see a room before renting. While the blue and purple haired, blue-jean-clad clerk complied, our request was met with a seething sour attitude that lasted through registration. Slamming keys, stoney silence and sprinting down the hallway at a pace which left us a good 30 steps behind certainly did NOT make us feel welcome. But perhaps I'm being too critical? (I was an owner/operator for more than 20 years). After registration, as we were pulling around the building to park, we saw her out front sucking on a cigarette. We had interrupted her break and were obviously to blame for her crummy attitude. Our room was in good order other than a rather large, dirty handprint on the wall and, being February and all, we were given a room that did NOT have the heat turned on. It took a good hour PLUS for the room to reach a comfortable temperature. The beds were surprisingly comfortable, given the budget mattresses and bedding. The shower was clean and had great water pressure with plenty of hot water. Free internet connection and in room coffee maker was great. We were disappointed the room did not have a small fridge, which has become commonplace at many properties. The bath towels are a little larger than a postage stamp but were clean and unstained. The pool looked inviting but was filled with local residents. While opening the facility to locals is a GREAT community service, area residents should be advised that their 20 oz Karuba coffee should not be consumed while exercising IN the pool. The free continental breakfast is a nice touch. read more

This little hotel is located in a small, safe town. Close to Madison and close to the Wisconsin Dells, but out of the "city" environment. The rooms are very clean and big, and the place well kept up. Close to a lot of dining choices ( within 5 minutes ). I noticed reviews that said place was not safe and there were weapon notices posted on the doors. First off people...when you give a review...make sure you are commenting on the RIGHT place, and don't LIE! There are no such signs posted at that hotel and the town is very safe, small town. ( it's not Illinois after all ) I've stayed at a lot of hotels and it's just fine for the price, and the price is average and normal for a hotel stay with a free breakfast and pool. read more

We stayed here for our first family trip with our 2 young kids about 2 weeks ago. It's about a 30-40 minute drive to get to the dells from the hotel but it's worth it. It was such a cute little motel! Usually when you think of a motel you think of a dumpy little place but this was SO nice! Very cozy and home like. We loved the indoor pool and my husband loved the hot tub. The continental breakfast is just OK. Beds are comfortable and staff is always friendly. We didn't mind the long drive to the dells because of the beautiful scenery on the way there! We will totally stay here again in the future. I loved everything about it. read more

Checked in for a girls weekend getaway. Saw the room and checked out 15 mins later. Beds weren't made and the beds were uncomfortable (sat on them while searching for a new place to stay). Everything about the room was very out of date and dirty. To top it off they still use actual keys. Drove further north to find much nicer accommodations. read more

first off this is a motel and not a hotel for a reason, but for the price had we known we would have drove an extra 15-20minutes to a nicer hotel. upon arrival it looked like a cleaner motel however it's clear they don't have the budget to update. the room had no fridge and was very very humid. we woke up to wet shoes, clothes, and bed sheets. we were on the first floor and it poured at night so not sure how everything was wet, even the floor was wet. despite having the air on all night it didn't help. the pool was nice and warm however they kept the air conditioning on very high in the pool room so it felt freezing and was really hard to enjoy the pool, we had to sit in the hot tub just to warm up. the breakfast was nothing special frozen waffles and frozen French toast. it's a nice motel but it's exactly that, a motel and after spending the night it's easy to see why. also the mattress are extremely hard and your gonna want extra pillows read more

I have the worst time sleeping in hotels. Not here. Maybe its the very warm pool or the pillows and the commfortable beds. the only noise you get in the room or even from next room over is the fan. You don't hear water rushing through pipes and the hall doesn't echo in your room. This is the second time here and the employees are nice and helpful. enough in surronding area that you near have to drive too far to get somewhere. read more
