No frills and very outdated but the rooms are clean and the staff is extremely friendly. Beds are somewhat comfortable. Not a bad stay

A good clean place to stay at after a canoe trip on the Wisconsin River with nice hot showers. I like the free breakfast.

We decided to get out of Milwaukee for a night and ended up getting the recommendation of the Sauk City area from friends in Madison.

Dave and Trudy are such warm and helpful hosts, making you feel so cared for and pampered. The Inn is so beautiful and immaculately clean with a view you never get tired of. We stayed in the Birds Nest room which was just perfect for us. Amazing view, comfortable bed, tub with spa jets, separate toilet room and two sinks - just perfect! Trudy is an amazing chef and Dave is the friendliest server at breakfast, serving up fresh baked goods, yogurt/granola, juice/coffee/artesian water, fresh fruit of many varieties, and the most delicious and lovely presentation for main courses. We were so impressed with every breakfast. At 5:30 pm every evening, Dave hosts "happy hour" in the Indigo Lounge, where you can sit at the bar, take in the view and enjoy some fine wine and a really delicious charcuterie plate put together by Trudy. Dave is great to talk to and has so many recommendations for the area. We took most of his recommendations for what to eat and drink at restaurants and were not disappointed! The grounds are beautifully manicured with so many trails and an outdoor spa (which we enjoyed a couple times while again taking in the view) and there is a sauna and exercise area inside too. We would love to come back and enjoy Dave and Trudy's amazing hospitality.

I did not expect the owners to treat me and my wife like honored guests in their own home, but that's how it is. Very interesting husband and wife team who are very skilled at making a rich experience and tailoring the visit to your interests. The coolest part of the stay for me were the happy hours that Dave hosted. We had a lot of fun swapping stories with Dave and other guests who were also up for some good drinks. Breakfast was also pretty awesome. The manor is a beautiful campus that exceeds the verbal description and pictures. Lots of richness in the back story can be gleaned from conversation with Dave. To be honest, we werent looking for a bed and breakfast or a resort like retreat since we came to do some hiking, do some leaf peeping, and do some tourist stuff with a friend. By the time check out came around, we wished we budgeted more time relaxing at the manor. Definitely plan to book here again next time we do a Wisconsin vacation.

Ice machines on each floor (hallelujah!). Breakfast area was well maintained and the mini breakfast quiches were a much appreciated addition; also kudos to the well stocked oatmeal bar. The work out room is more than ample and the pool and hot tub are a welcome respite after a long day of adventuring. I really appreciated the hot tub at this location, featuring both indoor and outdoor access, the guests embraced both options and took advantage of this luxury no matter what the April weather decided. The room itself was smaller in size, we could of used a bit more room even as a couple. Again, no vent in the bathroom, if you google it, there are some explanations as to why. We would totally stay here again, but would probably opt for a bigger room next time.

For a newer hotel, the walls were surprisingly thin, so we heard a lot from neighboring rooms. Cleanliness details were off too: oily fingerprints around the peephole and door edges, an empty shower gel dispenser at check-in, pink mold in the shower, and water leaking from under the shower door into a slippery pool on the floor. And why on earth they do not have bathroom exhaust fan??? Housekeeping only came every three days, so we had to ask a few times for towels and basic cleaning. Most staff were friendly, though the breakfast attendant always seemed to be in a mood. The breakfast setup also leaned on styrofoam, some more eco-friendly options would go a long way. It's a handy spot for visiting the area, and with a little more attention to upkeep it could be a really nice stay.

I have been holding off on writing these words for too long…read more Today I'm breaking that silence. Today I just read the first and only review of this place. That was written by a woman about 4 years ago. During better times. As far as the previous owners better times I concur, a very solid 5 stars as well as glowing kind words. As previously experienced her words were spot on and this little motel was very reasonably priced and a fine place to stay. At least I'm certain they properly reflected this lovely property and spoke very well of Linda the woman I got to know beginning around June 2021. That was before. New ownership means new something new to follow. Change is the only thing that always remains the same. Here's new ownerships benefits: * Increased price! * No WiFi / Internet! * AC promptly broke down, during last heat wave! (STILL DOWN!) * Seven surveillance cameras! * BOX ELDERS! More than you can kill! * On Site septic system, overdue for routine maintenance since AUGUST! * Flies outnumber Boxelders 5:1 on warm days! * Even when the new owner assured me this wasn't going to be affecting myself or any of the current residents. I've been renting a room as an office for my small handyman/electrical service business office June 2021. When the internet/WiFi was removed, and an assured promise it's return in a week came and passed, becoming 6 weeks and instead of the WiFi reappearing, a dozen surveillance cameras sprouted up like mushrooms one night. Some appear to be powered, others not. The AC stopped working just as the final Indian summer resurgence of +80F a week ago. All said, this is not likely to be a thing once new owners. Word in the area of small time remodeling/construction companies such as mine is the slumlord LLC that are Bel Aires proud new owners, are owners of at least 4-5 properties in the Madison area. This is more of a preview. Though my words primarily and accurately review my actual experience as a resident for 5 months.

I liked that it had hard floors instead of carpet. The bathroom was clean & had a beautiful shower curtain like one I'd find at home. I will be staying here again next time I'm in town visiting family.

We stayed for a long weekend, and and it was the perfect location to get away. The rooms are all themed so when you call to reserve you can pick from the rooms they have available. We stayed in Unit 2, the Devil's Lake room which had photos of Devil's lake. The room included a mini refrigerator, coffee and tea, and alarm clock if needed. Right outside your door they have chairs and tables for enjoying the beautiful weather. They also have grills and an area for bonfires. I was only able to go to the communal area/lobby for the first morning as it was soon closed as they were started to do contactless check in/out. But it seems as though in less COVID-y times they have some coffee or tea there, light breakfast items like mini muffins or breakfast bars and fruit. They also had a communal puzzle and board games. Overall the place is super cozy, perfectly situated for a relaxing vacation with a number of restaurants and small shops to visit in Baraboo.
