It's clear that the franchises under Choice Hotels are not being schooled in service dog law. We've been really pleased with some of the rooms we have stayed in over the last couple of years. Clean, moderate pricing and relatively safe. The hotel last night was an exception. Mold, a broken toilet that ran all night and a really dirty bathroom. In the times of respiratory pandemic and epidemic that's more than worrisome. Add to that that the desk clerk gave someone a duplicate key to our room and they burst in on us late at night when everyone was in bed. not what I needed when I'm having trouble sleeping anyway because of tooth pain worry about my upcoming dental surgery tomorrow. Ok the room was a disaster the bathroom wall was busted and rust everywhere. The ceiling vent was hanging down. Stains all on the carpet. You can smell the mildew in the carpet I ask for another room there was none available. The mattress is terrible and the pillows are like half a pillow. I was told that the room we were going to stay in was going to be 138. I asked if they had a double, because my mom had surger, and I didn't want to bump her, and cause her pain. The front desk told me to check out a suit. It was bigger than an average room, so I paid for it. Found out later that they charged us 223! The place is just ok. Parking spots in the main lot are tight, but there is additional parking across the street. We checked in late, after 10 p.m. When entering the room, we literally started sliding. Why you ask? Because the floor was wet from mist. It was so humid in the room, that my hair started to frizz. My daughter said her bed felt damp too. The counter top in the bathroom was wet from mist too. They said the reason for that is because it's so humid in New Orleans. Idk. I've stayed at several hotels in New Orleans and never experienced that. We only stayed there to be close to the airport definitely won't stay again. read more

This has got to be the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I spent a total of 10 days at this hotel and my room was only cleaned twice. I was there on business and vacation during the Mardi Gras season. I was so embarrassed that we booked this room for friends of ours with this being their first NOLA experience. The first night two of my female friends were at this hotel...a man broke in their room. They were not harmed because he wasn't expecting anyone to be in the room. However, even after reviewing the video and seeing the break-in, the owners did nothing. My friends were not even compensated for what they experienced. This was so unsettling. We were appreciative that "LA LA" assisted us in every way that she could. However, she was unable to make this a better experience because it was above her head. I would say... if you are looking for a dirty hotel, with a useless continental breakfast, rusty shower heads, leaking toilets, and an occasional break-in doesn't bother you... Chose the hotel for being reasonably priced and in close proximity to East Jefferson Hospital to visit a friend. It ended up being within 15 minutes or closer to everything I wanted -- the French Quarters, the hospital mentioned, restaurants, a mall, and my friend's apartment in Metairie. Benefits included warm chocolate chip cookies at the front desk in the afternoons, a workout room, free self-serve breakfast (decent assortment of fruits, yogurt, cereal, bagels, waffles, coffee, juice). I found the staff to be polite and helpful, my room to be clean, bed to be comfy, shower water to be hot, adequate lighting in the bathroom, and plenty of towels with shampoo and hair dryer provided, along with a refrigerator. A couple notes: 1) Be aware that they only change linens/towels every third day but there is a note saying you can request clean linens/towels at the desk. 2) There is extra parking in the lot across the street. RUN! DO NOT STAY HERE!! Prior to Covid when Cindy was the manager, we stayed here regularly. This was our first time back in two years, and things have gone downhill. The rooms are disgusting and need a complete overhaul. Dirty sheets, no linens available for the sofabed, rusted fixtures, ripped carpets, roaches, and our kids found an open box of condoms left in the nightstand drawer! We would switch hotels, but everything is sold out for the weekend due to state football championships and several conventions. The smoke alarm was ripped out of the ceiling and the elevator doesn't have a posted inspection permit. So in addition to the rooms being disgusting, there are real safety hazards that need to be addressed. We didn't bother eating breakfast due to the lack of cleanliness. The hotel itself had very friendly staff and very accommodating as I had to call late to make a reservation from the airport because rental cars aren't available after midnight. The electrical outlet in the bathroom was not working and there was some type of oily residue on the dryer. Other than that, I slept wonderfully and comfortably. I wish they had some type of complimentary breakfast for $200/night stay in a questionable part of town. The hotel is nice, just in an unusual location. This was the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed at. First we pulled up and the entire parking lot was covered in cat food. Literally, it looked like 10 huge bags were dumped everywhere. After crunching my way through the cat food and into the hotel, I went to the desk to check in, but no one was there... for a long time. Eventually, when an employee appeared, who was super nice I might add, we checked in and went to our room, and I immediately went back downstairs to ask if we could get a refund and leave because the room was disgusting, smelled like mildew, and didn't have a working lock, but we were told that would not be possible so we sadly decided to stay versus losing all the money we paid. We were instead allowed to move to another room which we were glad to be offered, but unfortunately it was barely any better. The two main problems with this hotel were that nothing looked like it had been cleaned in a very, very, long time, and the humidity in the room was so high that the carpet was wet to walk on and everything in the room was wet and sticky. It also smelled strongly of mold and urine. It only took about 15 minutes for any of my belongings to also become wet and sticky, including the insides of my shoes. The rooms literally look NOTHING like the images shown, which are bright and clean. There was a ton of hair in the sink. The carpet was very dirty and stained. The walls had marks and stains in every color you can imagine. Tons of mold in the bathroom. Every time you wanted to watch TV, you had to go through a long process to get it to work because they didn't have it set up correctly. The was no sound proofing between the rooms and the hallway, and it was very loud and easy to hear others. The bed was equivalent to sleeping on a floor and the pillows looked like they'd been cut in half and one of them had brown stains all over it. The pull out sofa bed was COVERED in brown stains. The door had huge gaps in it so when you would try to go to sleep at night, all the light from the hallway shines right in your face through the 1 inch cracks. The breakfast offered was extremely mediocre so we got food elsewhere. There was more, but I think the point has been made. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, ever, and if this was the only option, I would sleep in my car. read more

I really enjoyed my stay here while visiting Nola. They offer free breakfast, 24 hr gym, free parking, free wifi, and nearby a lot of hot spots. No pool but that's ok. The staff was really welcoming and kind. The Continental breakfast was ok. They had eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, waffle maker, muffins, oatmeal, cereal, coffee, juices, and tea. This location is walking distance to cafe du monde which was one of the reasons I decided to stay here. The room was nice, well cleaned, and modern. Super impressed by this hotel, it's clean and modern vibe. Easy check in and the rooms were standard and spacious for what is expected from an everyday hotel. I will definitely be on the look out for this chain when I go to small towns. I also was surprised by the products they offered, they were natural and had a hippie vibe to them as they used sandalwood. The hotel also offers free breakfast until 10am not sure what it was but it's a nice option to have when there is slim pickings around. Now warning this hotel is kind of hidden and surrounded by auto shops, not the sexiest ambience but it's close to some shops, chain restaurants and easy to get back on the highway from. 1/5 I was in a hectic rush for work one morning and possibly threw my Airpods in the trash can with my breakfast. So i up my "DO NOT DISTURB" sign just in case i accidentally did, so I can retrieve them when I get back. I come back from work and found that housekeeping entered my room anyways and the trash was emptied. So its either my Airpods were thrown away or housekeeping stole them. They 100% ignored my privacy and entered my room. I told the manager about it and he absolutely did nothing to accommodate me with points or a room upgrade (I didn't ask). I 100% do not recommend this hotel for any extended stay workers. As a Choice Hotel Diamond member, I will be taking my tens of thousands of company dollars I spend a year to IHG hotels. read more

1st, Let me say that the front desk staff is very friendly. However, I was EXTREMELY disappointed. The rooms need a serious upgrade. The tub faucet in my room leaked CONSTANTLY. The toilet ran constantly. There was rust in many areas of the room. The carpet was NASTY with stains. To top it off, the cable went out in the entire hotel (which affected many other hotels in the area) and the owner (who was there everyday of my stay) didn't bother to compensate his guest for the inconvenience of not having television or internet service for more than 24 hours. The pluses... - The room was clean. - The staff that checked us in were nice. - The hotel is convenient being right off the I-10 highway. - Even though the hotel is right off the highway, the traffic I heard is not that bothersome at night. The downside... - The beds were not comfortable, especially if you share the bed. But this is a personal opinion. - They have the free typical hotel breakfast, but not as extensive as hotels this size. And nothing for individuals with food allergies. - It might be the room setup that we were in, but the nightlight in the bathroom shown over the whole far side of the room. Easy fix, close the door unless you have a kid that needs the light to get to the bathroom. But, with a broken vent fan, closing the door after showering made the bathroom smell a bit. Also, the room door did not fit properly on the hinges, so there is more light coming in than usually. - The tub is small which makes the sides of the tub have steep angles, so standing and taking a shower is uncomfortable on the legs. The water pressure was ok, but it could have been better if the shower head was not broken. And the lighting to do makeup in the mirror is not good. - The parking lot is small and the spaces are ridiculously small. It makes me uncomfortable that the hotel doesn't have any protection for the lot other than a camera on the outside and a sign that says "not responsible for damages and theft". - There is additional space across the street, but that made us more uncomfortable. - There seems to be people that are not patrons hanging around the outside of the hotel. I am pretty sure that they are using the WiFi. When we checked in, it was 2 drunk women and when we came back from dinner, it was a man yelling at someone on the phone. I had the pleasure of staying here for business a short while ago, and I have to say that I was truly blown away with my stay and the level of customer service I received. As a person that travels for work on occasion, I can honestly say that the first thing that I look for after flying for hours (and then in some cases driving for an hour or two) is a clean room, a hot shower, and a comfortable bed. This hotel delivered that...and more. From the moment I arrived at the hotel the front desk staff was courteous and friendly. Check-in was quick and easy; I gave the front desk clerks my driver's license and credit card, and they gave me my room key within two minutes. (Note: They will make a photocopy of your ID for security purposes, in the event you're locked out of your room and don't have your ID on hand.) They do have security cameras monitoring every hallway and stairwell in the building, which really made me feel secure. The room that they gave me was a suite, and it was very clean and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I had no problems falling asleep each and every time I laid on it. The restroom was a very nice size, and even had a Jacuzzi in it! Water pressure and temperature was very constant. As other reviewers have mentioned, parking can be a bit difficult. The hotel has a small lot next to the building, and they have some parking spots across the street from the hotel. There is also street parking available. The hotel is right off of I-10, and a short 15 minute drive will put you right in the heart of the French Quarter. There's also a Target across the street, a Dunkin Donuts about a 5 minute drive away, and a few fast food restaurants in the vicinity. Oh, did I mention FREE WI-FI??? WOO HOO!!!! Had 2 rooms for 1 night, spent 1 night out of town then returned for another night's stay in March 2012. Rooms were clean with nice appointments, flat screen TV, microwave, fridge and comfy office chair at desk. Staff was courteous but we required no other service than checking in and out nor did we partake in the breakfast. CALL DESK FOR DIRECTIONS - we used the address listed online but it didn't direct us to the right area via our GPS unit. Desk will give you better address (it's only off by a block or so but there are a bunch of on/off highway ramps that make it confusing.) One negative - parking is tight. For a budget hotel I would say this hotel is amazing! Should be an example for other hotels of that level. Easy, hassle free check in by very friendly staff. Rooms small but extremely clean. I loved the modern decor. Bathroom is spacious and clean with plenty of towls. Beds are spotless and smell clean. The best feature was sidebed outlets. I usually travel with kids and husband and we all have a at list one electronic device and for me to plug in everything for a charge always a hassle but not in this hotel. I plugged in 6 devises by the bed (4 regular outlets and 2 USB ports). In my opinion this little feature makes a huge difference in a hotel review. Breakfast was fresh and hot. Check out proses was heslfeee. The only thing I would recommend is if you like silence and noise free room ask for a room not facing highway because you can hear highway noise. My girlfriend and I actually stayed here on two occasions during the course of a week, one night from March 17-18 and four nights from March 19 to what was supposed to be March 23. Our first stay was a single night on March 17 as we were slated to depart on the 18th for Lafayette. The stay was pretty much expected for a two-star establishment. One thing we noticed was that our white socks turned black walking around the room. I first postulated that it was because we had to take off our shoes when getting screened by the TSA, but after scrubbing a white part of the same sock on a spot of the carpet in the middle of the room (the "Sock Test" as I like to call it), I confirmed that it was indeed the room's carpet. Also, the breakfast was minimal and even during peak times, there was not enough of staple items such as milk. These shortcomings, however, would be considered forgivable for a two-star establishment, especially one that costs only roughly $85 per night including taxes. It was what happened during our second day, specifically on Wednesday, March 21, that really caused a stir. We were running a bit late so we put on the "Do Not Disturb" sign that morning prior to heading out, as is common practice. There were two beds in the room, and we had misplaced one of the cards that are used to request housekeeping to change the bed linens. In lieu of the missing card, I wrote a note indicating that we had misplaced one of the cards and requested the linens on both beds be changed, adding a cheerful "Thanks!" at the end of the note. We then proceeded to the front desk around 10:30 AM to ask whether housekeeping would do a second round. The lady we spoke to was professionally courteous and indicated that she would inform housekeeping accordingly. I have done something similar at other properties I've stayed in with no problems at all. Evidently, the person at housekeeping who "cleaned" our room did not think our request to be a reasonable one. Indeed, the linens appeared to be changed, but the rest of the room was left in a shambles. I found my note crumpled up rather violently and placed on the small bedside table in front of the alarm clock. Old sheets and bedspreads were left thrown on one side of room. The bathroom was not cleaned at all as the sink was still wet, and the used towels were not removed. In addition, what looked like new towels were piled on to the sink, which was still wet. This misstep rendered the new towels useless as they ended up being wet as well. Finally, perhaps the most puzzling action by housekeeping was to turn our air conditioner down to 60 degrees and the fan on high, which explained why the room felt extremely cold. The combination of all of the above led us to believe that the housekeeping staff absolutely did not make us feel welcome and may even have some sort of weird vendetta against us. As a result, I went down to the front desk around midnight, manned by a rather cheery, but professional Jennifer ("Jen"). She assisted in recording our complaint and to obtain new sheets and towels, as we were not even sure whether they were actually clean or not. She informed me that housekeeping noted that the "linens were changed," and even remarked that "you would think that they would have finished the job." Those thoughts were mine exactly at that moment. So after we changed our sheets, I immediately booked another room at a Ramada a couple of miles away for a much more relaxing experience. While this experience ended up costing us $50 more just for one night, frankly, we did not want to deal with the stress of what might happen on the night prior to our departure back to New Jersey (that Thursday night). But our story is not yet finished. To add insult to injury, we received a note under the door that Thursday morning stating that we need to inform the front desk by 12 noon if we would like housekeeping. The astute reader will remember that we had conveyed to the front desk our desire for housekeeping at 10:30am Wednesday morning. After packing up our things, we did our early checkout, said good riddance, and headed back out to New Orleans before checking in to our new hotel. I just cannot fathom why this particular establishment is the #1 hotel in Metairie, LA on TripAdvisor and continually receives stellar reviews. Maybe we just caught everyone on a bad day. Still, I don't think any customer should even entertain the possibility of having to endure what we had experienced. My personal verdict: stay at your own risk. Needless to say, my next course of action will be to contact Choice Hotels International with the contents of this review. read more

My second night at the hotel my vehicle was hit in the parking lot. It's a very tight parking lot with limited parking. The beds are very soft so for those if you who have back issues this is not the place for you. I also left my Apple Watch in the room. When I called the manager, I gave her a detailed description of the watch and where it was laying in the room. She informed me she spoke to the housekeeper but she didn't find my watch. Well she flat out lied. She stole my watch. I was then blamed for the watch being stolen because I was the one who left it. The manager continued to side with her employee. I will NEVER stay at this location or even this chain of hotel again. That watch was the last gift my daddy gave me before he died and some greedy person stole it and the hotel protected them.
