Can we say need a serious upgrade all the way down to the wall and lamp plugs! This is one of the places where it gives the energy of a slumlord runs this. Unfortunately, or more embarrassing we frequent this place way too often because of a coin shortage. Plus not too many choices in this area. Sleep Inn/Comfort Inn area! Tina is a pleasant front desk person. We had an issue with no hot water and was told by the checkout day staff the next day a lovely story about being full blah blah blah! Not to impressed, clerk at check in did not have much of a personality. The rooms were clean but it had the smell of cigarettes being masked. The breakfast was mediocre at best and coffee was full of grounds ( see photo). The pool area was disgusting with outdated broken pool furniture. There is a lot of competition in the area so they better step up their game. read more

This is the absolute worst hotel I've ever encountered in my lifetime of travel. I am handicapped and requested a full handicap room with a roll in shower and was told, in writing, I would have it. Upon my arrival I was told that the room was not available because it was occupied by another guest. I was offered another handicap room on the 4th floor but upon my inspection of the bathroom it was nowhere near ADA requirements. Only one grab bar with a seat in the back of the full tub unreachable to the faucet or shower hose. No grab bars anywhere else in the bathroom and especially noticeable none around the non-ADA toilet. I had to wait until noon the next day for the room I was promised. Got to the room and was shocked to see again that this room did not meet normal handicap requirements either. The shower enclosure had no dish soap shelf anywhere within it. The shower floor was extremely slippery as was the entire bathroom floor. The floor drain in the middle of the bathroom was sunken about 4" and in need of a proper cover so as to prevent anyone from tripping over it. The toilet clogged several times and was told it would be fixed but it was not. I had to plunge it myself as I borrowed a plunger from the front desk. Housekeeping was an absolute disaster. They did not make the bed or empty trash or clean the bathroom at all. They did leave me and my wife one bath towel each and one hand towel each but left the room filthy. In addition the room smelled of must and general unpleasant odors to where we had to buy air freshener ourselves. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone especially handicap people. This not to mention the breakfast available was way less than desirable. Avoid the Sleep Inn in MATTHEWS, NC at all cost! read more

I have stayed here a few times and this last time (multiple meanings) was horrible. I won't go into details, but do NOT count on getting any rest if you stay here. Apparently, the name "Sleep Inn" is supposed to be ironic because the hotel allows LOUD parties to go on at all hours. Most hotels have quiet hours and I confirmed this one does too. The woman at the front desk spoke as if she would be helpful and I believe she DID at some point ask the room to quiet down. They would for a short period and then spin up again. I called the front desk three times and offered to leave if they would refund my money. Nope... She insisted she would enforce the quiet hours. When I was a night auditor for several hotels in VB, if I had to warn you more than once about noise, I was kicking you out. Most folks pay for a quiet night's sleep and it is insanely inconsiderate to assume you can do whatever you want and at whatever volume. We won't be back. It is unfortunate that Choice does not allow you to leave reviews on their website as perhaps they could talk to the management of this hotel about controlling unruly guests. read more

Firstly we stayed here in February before covid got really bad and when discrimination against Asians started getting bad. We were on edge. The last up front was nothing but pleasant even with the internet being down. Our first room we went to was occupied but she quickly fixed that for us. Our second room was old. The toilet didn't flush. We had to take off the tank top and make it work. There also wasn't a door separating the toilet from the actually room.. We were only staying a night so we didn't bother to bother the front desk. During our stay and crossing paths with others in the hotel we've realized a lot of the occupants are long time residents and the hotel is almost like it's own little community.. you can smell jane in the halls, there's yelling, people walking around in socks, with their dogs.. One guy joined us in the elevator telling us he had to leave his roommate because he was going to kill him We didn't go to the compliment breakfast the next morning. It wasn't a bad stay it just wasn't a very comfortable stay. read more

Four stories, interior entrances. I had made reservations in advance for my trip. Once I was in Charlotte I had a work schedule change that had my work for the day end by 1pm. I called the hotel and asked if it was possible to check in early. They said they had a full night the night before but would work on my early check in request. Arrived at the hotel soon after my call, Had a short wait in the lobby as they prepared my room for my stay. The bed was comfortable, wifi worked well, hdtv had a good choice of channels, a/c kept things comfortable. Quiet environment. Front desk staff was polite and professional. read more

Awesome staff and amazing customer service. They need to have there team teach other Sleep Inn teams how to do what they do! Checked in right away along with them telling me they gave a goodie breakfast bag that another SLEEP inn in SC did not do, but felt their free coffee all day was acceptable. There is nothing I could ask from this group other than they TEACH OTHER franchises how to make be customer service related and make their customer feel VALUED, that's what keeps your company standards out! read more

I booked this hotel for my daughter en route to Alabama. She mistakenly checked in (at 11pm) at the sleep inn by the airport. The front desk THERE was rude and snippy, sending my daughter to tears. When I called this hotel to complain, they graciously checked their records and confirmed she never checked in and refunded my charge. Nora was extremely helpful. Disappointment from check-in. Clerk was very nice. First room bathroom toilet tank wouldn't refill. First suite ac wasn't working. Second suite jacuzzi tub had been turned into a garden tub but it was only a tub with jets that didn't work! Not even a drain cover. Swimming pools was a gross green color and not opened 3 days of our stay. Breakfast was included but same stuff everyday. At check out, not even asked how was our stay. We picked this hotel because it seemed like a comfortable and affordable place to crash before moving on to the next part of our trip. The service was fine, the room was clean, the bathroom sucked, and at one point a large bug showed up in our room. If you stop here be sure to have your own pillow. The ones here are small and uncomfortable. The breakfast bar only serves sausage and eggs, luckily there is a chick fil a within walking distance. The hallways smell like mold; however, the room we stayed in seemed ventilated enough that it was not a problem once inside. read more

My husband is staying here. He is working out of town. Has been here for 2-3 months. I went to visit him an the person next to him was playing music all night. My husband gets up at 4 am for work. He said something but nothing was done. When I visited him for 4 days I saw MOLD in the shower. Not good. Very displeased with this place. I originally had booked a hotel down the road but when I saw the location I changed it to the sleep in because it was in a more popular area with plenty of eating options around the area. I checked in after a long car ride from raleigh in snow ice and rain. The guy at the front counter Toran was very friendly and helpful we chatted for a few before I went up to my room. I was on the 4th floor which was good because it kept me away from the noise of the main highway in front of the hotel. The room itself was small and the bathroom layout wasn't impressive at all,the sink was outside between a partition separating the bed from the sink then the toilet and shower was in a small niche with in wall door. I.did not like that layout at all. The bed was comfortable and sturdy sheets appeared clean (sorry I didn't have a black light nor would I want to know lol) the fridge was ok and the rest of the layout was very comfortable. I will say this there was not shampoo or conditioner for me so I had nothing to was my heart from the cigar lounge I had just visited. The buffet Breakfast the next day was fresh the eggs were well cooked and sausage decent,you get to make your waffles fresh and coffee was good. It was a good spread for it to be complimentary. I will definitely be staying at the sleep in again if given the chance. I just might bring my own shampoo and conditioner or ask as soon as I check in. read more

The Sleep Inn was great for my quick getaway. I thought the room was clean and had all the necessary essentials that we needed. The room did have a strong cleaning smell, but it was manageable. The hotel was very accommodating, supplying toothbrushes and toothpaste when it was apparent that we had forgotten to pack them. When we called to state that our room had still not been cleaned in the afternoon, they were able to fix the problem quickly, sending housekeeping up within 5 minutes or so. The front desk was helpful with printing necessary documents for traveling and their breakfast was decent in the morning. I would definitely considering staying here again if back in the area. The location was great for quick restaurant selections and it wasn't too far from downtown. read more

I stayed for three nights in August of 2015. Arrived tired at 9:30 pm after a 13 hour drive, Check-in was quick, but the front desk woman who works that shift could work on being more personable. Not one "please" or "thank you", or even a smile, from her. Instead, it was "give me your credit card!". I'm a huge fan of customer service. So that didn't go over that well with me. However, my encounters with the day, and early morning front desk people were very pleasant! I also had a problem with the same front desk personnel not processing my wake-up call request. Thankfully, I had set the alarm on my phone, just in case. When making my reservation I did request a room that was far away from the elevator and the stairwell; that request was met, which I appreciated. I had booked my room for four nights but ended up leaving a day early. There was no question, or difficulty with the fourth night being refunded. The room was clean, but did have a funky antiseptic smell to it that did not go away. I was there for three days and did not have room service come in during that time, but the smell did not diminish. Bed was very comfortable, with lots of pillows. Sheets were nice. AC worked great; nice and cold. Adequate supply of towels and toiletries. There is NO bathtub, just a shower. That may be an issue for parents of young children. TV worked great but there was no program guide on the TV. Therefore, you had to surf all the channels to find something you may want to watch with no idea what time it started, or when something new may be coming on. Not a big deal, unless you know the TV is going to be part of your entertainment during your stay. The room was predominantly quiet. I didn't hear any noises from outside in the parking lot, the hallway, or the rooms on either side of mine. However, on the third night I was continually awakened by the person in the room above me. They were walking around their room all night. I don't know if perhaps that person was exceptionally large and that was why their footsteps were so loud, or if no one was in that room before that night. The free breakfast was mostly processed foods. Frozen sausage bisquits you could microwave, packaged hard-boiled eggs, waffle batter that came out of a dispenser, bagels, toast, cereal, some apples and bananas. Not terrible, but not great either. I have definitely experienced better. However, with the hotel being located so close to numerous restaurants it was an easy choice to pass on the free breakfast, and get some freshly prepared food nearby. Overall, I would stay here again. If not for the funky smell in the room, and the front desk person not processing my wake-up request, I think I would have given the Sleep-Inn four stars, rather than three. read more

The staff has always been very kind when I call asking if I can stay with my emotional support animal. This is the only hotel in all of Matthews, NC that I know of that will do this. I've used them for years when I travel to visit family and their service has only gotten better over time. Very clean, great breakfast, I've called other hotels in the area who were overly rude about me staying with my emotional support dog, and I will never use those hotel chains again no matter where I travel. If 1 hotel is snotty about it than I expect it to be that way with the entire chain. The hotel across the street. The guy was even laughing while being rude to me as if he enjoyed denying me a room with my emotional support dog I could HEAR how pleased he was with him self.You wont get that kind of horrid service here. read more
