Wow...just wow. Haven't had to deal with this level of dishonesty in a great while. First lie..."no we aren't on commission, so the buyer can trust what we tell them about our beds". BS. Second lie..."there's a 100 day policy on it, no questions asked, our goal is to make sure you are satisfied...even if that means 6 months later and you just aren't happy, we will absolutely put you into a bed of ours that works for you". Also a load of crap. I'm on day 119, just went in to talk to them not about getting a refund, but possibly trying a different bed. The response..."after 100 days, nothing we can do for you. Try and call customer service, but I doubt it". Now that the service (non-existent after the sale) aspect is taken care of, let's chat about the actual product. We got the M7 bed, so, think a cross between Tempurpedic and Sleep Number. It's basically a fancier air mattress. My side noticeably moves when my wife moves around. She sleeps at a lower number than me, which makes it awkward to spoon or roll over. It sags in the middle, quite a bit if you ask me. When you go to lower numbers, it literally feels like a $20 air mattress that bounces when you move around on it. Maybe not the worst way I've spent $3500...definitely the most regrettable. Do NOT trust these liars in the store. They will tell you ANYTHING to make a sale, and are the scummy bottom of the commission world. And I couldn't care less that they are commissioned, but they are the epitome of why people HATE commission leeches. Why no option for Zero Stars? Very friendly service until my dad unexpectedly passed away and my elderly mom wanted to return so a full return. It's only been three weeks and a King size is no longer needed. Upon Jeremy That friendly salesman to inform him of the return, that friendliness was gone. He said to schedule an appt to tak with the manager. We waited two days to get ahold of him and he said Jeremy was wrong and he has nothing to do with the return. Although they did try and sell her a smaller bed. Unfortunately the $2k base isn't returnable so because my dad died, she is stuck with a huge loss on a brand new product and that doesn't even include fees associated with the return. If you are looking at Yelp, you are smart, please take my advice and stay away from this business. No compassion and very cold once we wanted to return it. There is only one reason to shop at Sleep Number and her name is Leslie Merideth. The employees work on a commission basis and although a male employee was to address me when I walked in the door, he didn't. Instead, he judged me from the moment I stepped out of my vehicle to the moment I walked in the door. The ignorant and uncaring male associate had no idea I deliberately dressed down for my mattress-shopping adventure. He also had no idea I was a shopper from the Neiman Marcus location at the Stanford Shopping Center. After instantly deciding I wasn't worth a tinker's darn, he put his nose back onto his handheld device and ignored my presence. Who could imagine this apparent low-life within me would actually be aware beyond measure? Within seconds, I introduced myself and Leslie graciously came forward and introduced herself. She politely acknowledged it was her male co-worker's turn, however, I stopped her cold by boldly announcing, "I won't work with anyone who ignores me." Leslie took the time to have me lie down on several beds while she navigated my body's need's with her iPad. We determined I'm a number 40 and required a such-and-such bed. Not only is Leslie a caring individual, she doesn't judge others by their appearance. She goes above and beyond to ensure her customer's needs are heard, understood and met. When shopping at Sleep Number on Churn Creek Road in Redding, California, only work with Leslie. She's a top-notch individual and low-stress salesperson. She absolutely gets my 100% vote! read more

MAD DISABLED Viet Nam Veteran This is the worst company I have ever dealt with I am a disabled Viet Nam Veteran and have a lot of trouble sleeping so I went to Sleep number in Redding California I was informed by the the Manage and my sale rep if I bought a bed from then that I had 100 days to sleep in it and if I did not like it I could return it for a full refund, this was told to me by the manager of the store and the sales rep. I sleep on this for several week and did not help my sleep so I called to return it. I was informed that they would pick up the Mattress but I had to keep the base which is $4000 to $5000. this was never bought up in the sales process. I have ask for my contract several times but they refuse to give it. I want to tell you that this is the worst experience we have ever had purchasing something. They have the worst customer service they misrepresent their product. They will not give you a full refund. They will not give you dates to pick it up. They are difficult to work with and constantly will tell you to go to one place to talk to another person to continue to say will get back to you and then they don't even call back so I would recommend do not buy anything from the store or this business. The manager there John is so rude. My girlfriend and I went it to look for a mattress for us to use when we get married at some point and to look at wedding rings after. It sounded like a perfect night for us but the manager had to try to ruin what was supposed to be a special night for us. He was so rude and disrespectful to me I didn't know what to say and I was trying to put on a happy face since my girlfriend was excited. I think he was disrespectful because I wasn't the one buying it. He refused to shake my hand after shaking my girlfriends, called me by random names, ignored me and gave almost all his attention to my girlfriend even though we said we both were interested in a mattress for us. He was not rude to her but he was very rude and disrespectful to me. We both came back to complain after talking about it in the car and he was on the way home, but the woman there called him We overheard her talking to him and she said we came in to complain about him and I overheard him say "I'm the manager." As if that means he can be as rude as he wants because he can get away with it. She then asked us if we wanted to talk to him but we said no because we overheard him on the phone and his first response to finding out he offended someone is I'm management not I'm sorry so we knew he doesn't care but he would just put on a show and pretend to. -Update- His boss Jeffrey Soulburg said he would forward us to customer support to try to get us a possible discount. My fiance followed up with sleep number customer support about this. She said that the customer representative said that their file said that John apologized to us and made things right. John did not apologize. When his coworker called him he said he's the manager. He made excuses over the phone when he called my fiance. He did not apologize. He just said the words. My fiance made it very clear we did not believe his apology was genuine and we told his boss to tell him to never speak to us again. When she talked to the representative she said well the file says it's resolved and my fiance said it's not resolved. Then she got snappy with my fiance and said she can't help us unless we buy anything. Then my fiance said that we aren't going to be recommending a sleep number to our friends and the representative replied well with threats like that you aren't going to get anywhere and that was the end of the phone call. read more

I posted above that after 7 years my 15 yr. warranty is useless because there are no spare parts available. The company claims they cannot get the motors to inflate the mattress, yet they continue to sell beds with motors! They encouraged me to order a motor through them, pay for it immediately, yet said it could be "months" before it arrives! Meanwhile I'm the owner of a $2500 mattress and sleeping on the floor! The guy who reads these reviews wrote & gave me yet another phone number to call, but it is just an answering machine and so far nobody in their "Executive Department" has returned my call. A quick glance at the stock price of this company indicates it has sunk to about $36, but was at about $150 two years ago. Is it any wonder? I can't even begin to describe the poor customer for Sleep Number, quality of their merchandise, and the sham of the supposed 15year warranty. Please don't waste your money, time and frustration. And the added stress of dealing with a bed that's a year and a half old that's falling apart, loosing bolts and screws from underneath the bed. And dealing with the sub company that holds the warranty after a year is a joke. Even though the bed is too be cover for 15 yrs. The warranty company pro-rates any parts on the bed. But that doesn't cover the certified sleep number technician out of Chico to come and that I (the customer) has to pay. I do want to say Thank you to Rob for trying to help us. PLEASE DONT SHOP AT ANY SLEEP NUMBER. YOU CAN SPEND $3600 to over $12,000 for weak quality bed, poor manufactured, a fraud of a 15yr warranty. Basically Sleep Number covers 1yr. Carlos was our sales person and we couldn't have been happier with his service. When we first went in, we were just "window shopping". We already had a sleep # bed but wanted to look at the adjustable beds. We decided against this new purchase as we just didn't want to spend the extra $$ right now. Fast forward a month or so, we got a phone call from Carlos letting us know that the bed we were interested in was on sale. We came back in and purchased our new king size adjustable bed. The delivery was scheduled and everything ran like clockwork. The delivery folks we incredibly helpful and professional. They walked us through all the controls, moved our old sleep # bed out to our RV and took away the base we didn't need anymore All in all, this was an excellent experience and we are so happy with our new bed. I especially love the "partner snore" option. We both sleep so much better now!!! read more

I came in and got a new set of sheets, because Mark proactively called to let me know I had cash rewards and that sheets were on sale. I came in a few hours later, and Mark provided excellent service by explaining the difference between two different kinds of sheets and by letting me know what my out-the-door price would be on both. Went in to buy our bed, picked one out, and paid $3200.00. Was told 2-3 weeks til delivery. Got a delivery date 4 weeks later, gave us a time span they would arrive, then called us that very day to tell us "no bed today". Next delivery date, another four weeks out. Same scenario, day of scheduled delivery got a call, "no bed today", next delivery date, the end of January. Bed cancelled. Costco bed arriving next week!! Can't wait!!! read more

The entire corporation uses deceptive business practices, which I discovered too late and am now out about $600 and don't have a bed. At the store, the return policy is not posted, and when returning a defective product - like what I had - good luck. Everyone from the store employees to the customer service number you end up calling tells you the same thing, its in the contract you signed. The contract doesn't state that the BED cannot be returned to the STORE, it MUST BE shipped back to the company, which costs around $199. If you have a defective part, or in my case, several defective parts, all the customer service number is willing to do is ship you more parts. Yes, the customer service number and not the store, which is not told to the customer at the store. The store employees, including the manager who sold me the bed, did not say anything about ME being the person who would troubleshoot my own bed, or that if I had a defective part or two, that I would need to call someone in Minnesota to have them ship me a new part. After dealing with their customer service, I still had two defective parts and decided I was done with the whole company and would ship back the bed. Which in California law states if its a defective product, the company pays for the shipping. Not so with Select Comfort. They refer you to their legals department, who never contacts you, and then when you call back, your claim has been denied and they are in full compliance with the law. Well, not according to the lawyers I've spoken to, and I have more stock in what those lawyers say, than a corporation who I discovered frequently defrauds customers by using "broiler plate" practices. I have contacted several government agencies and I am hoping this leads to large fines and a change in business practices. read more

We purchased an adjustable bed for total cost over 10 thousand including mattress frame and electronics and bedding. We were told we had a 30 day trial and all was returnable but the head board and bedding. The bed is not working for us and went to the store to discuss the return . We spoke to the manager who sold this to us and he was not near as eager and friendly as he was to sell to us . We looked at other beds and they won't work for us . So he could not take care of the return so we had to call the customer service number and we told the only thing that was returnable was the mattress for 3800.00. None of the frame or electronics are returnable. We knew the bedding and upholstered headboard were not returnable as we were told by the manager . The manager did not offer us a detailed explanation of the return policy. We were under the impression that everything was returnable except the upholstered headboard and the bedding. Had we realized that the only thing we could return of the mattress we would not have purchased the bed in the first place. I admit we should have been more careful reading the fine print but when asked specifically about returning parts of the bed we felt that the sales man should have been more willing to volunteer the information. If you decide to purchase one of these beds, do yourself a favor, read the fine print and call the customer service manager before you purchase to get full details. read more
