Because of Covid-19 we really researched the Murphy Cabinet bed we wanted. So we knew what we wanted and also how much we were willing to pay. Another local bed store sells the same brand we were looking for but was on the high side. Then we called the Sleep Shop. They had the brand we wanted AND at right price. We concluded the purchase of our cabinet bed all by phone. We paid by credit card and were told by Devon we'd get a receipt from one of the delivery guys. Which we did. Personable SERVICE ended then! On the day of delivery (mid morning) we decided to call The Sleep Shop to see if we could get a time frame for delivery since we were not given one. I also asked if the cabinet bed needed to be put together or would it be fully assembled before delivery? Devon not only didn't know these bits of necessary information but conveyed to me in a 'very annoyed' tone of voice that he either didn't care or was too busy to check. The two delivery guys did call us 1/2 hour ahead of arrival..BUT had to be reminded by my husband to please 'mask up' but otherwise they were very nice. The Cabinet bed is perfectly beautiful! But we would not recommend The Sleep Shop because of 'after service' attitude. Sometimes it's better to pay more for BETTER service! (3 stars for the Cabinet bed NOT the service) read more

watch out, they talk up being local, but when it comes to there replacement policy they are to be just like the chain stores 15 % restcking fee , after spending thousands on a mattress, they stick it to ya if you want to replace it , and never say anything in the sales pitch about it ,but talk up how the special they are , when we questioned the 15 % they said was on the reciept , sure was, preprinted on the back !! like i needed to read every detail, trust was shot felt taken advantage of! they cya d the charge, basically it was on us since we didn't critique the paperwork, no repeat business from , auburn is a small town!! it left a negative after all is said and done , 15 % money grab, be careful! read more

There is no reason to buy a mattress anywhere else but here. Why? Because it's local, family owned (Devon was incredible and his brother in law apparently runs the sleep shop in Grass Valley), provides free delivery, makes a point NOT to upsell you, and provides an exchange policy on the products. Over three days we went here to hem and haw and eventually buy a fabulous new mattress. Devon told us all about all the different beds and was clearly most interested in making sure we are comfortable, not maxed out on the most expensive model. The greatest customer service as provided by Clay who after telling him about the issues we were having with our three year old mattress, gave us a complete rundown on what went wrong and what they could do for us and then finding out what type of mattress we needed. They have a wonderful selection of mattresses in stock and all the main brands including high end posturepedic types. Their prices in comparison to the huge chain mattress store just up the road, couldn't be beat and they delivered within the next day with complete set up and removal of the old mattress all for no fee. We were so pleased with the following three guys, Casey, Taylor and John who did a fantastic job and this is the third time we have purchased mattresses from the Sleep Shop. I previously owned a Mc Roskey mattress(very expensive & hand crafted based in San Francisco) but my husband kept it when we split. He's still sleeping comfortably after 18 years on the same mattress. Unable to afford another I went in search of a suitable replacement. this isn't going to be easy, after a Mc Roskey. I went to the Sleep Number, Mathews Mattress and European Sleep Design before going to the Sleep Shop in the weeks leading up to Presidents Day. (Big sales on mattress) I also did a ton of research online and I read the reviews. At the onset you should ask about return policies they vary , some don't exist. A new review on a mattress could be very misleading. Let' face it the first two years of a new mattress really determines it's value. Construction and materials used in my mattress are equally important to me. If your mattress is made well your money is well spent. Let me just add my personal opinion on some of the materials used in the construction of mattresses these days. Memory foam is crap. If your mattress is breaking down structurally and you hope the manufacturer will honor a Warranty? You should know that memory foam will always bounce back that's why it's called memory foam. Warranties are evaluated on the depressions in the mattress top. Honestly you just negated the Warranty by purchasing Memory Foam. (It's all a scam) Memory foam is not breathable so if you tend to run a little warm i.e., night sweats hot flashes this might not be for you. One more thing, if you are used to turning your own mattress or your single "Beware" mattresses are constructed differently now some of them weigh a ton. It's something to seriously consider. Seriously, it's a service now. Mattress stores will schedule someone to come out to your home to assist you if you are unable to manage it alone. I selected a "Plush" Spring Air Berkshire Queen. In the show room lets face it Goldilocks will decide whether its too hard, too soft or just right. Within two weeks of my purchase I knew this was NOT the mattress for me and I contacted them to let them know. No Problem. I went back into the store and upgraded to an Aireloom "Firm" now that's Plush in my opinion. (Italian made & hand crafted) It's a little pricier but it's my sleep we are talking about and how can you put a price on that? I also purchased an adjustable frame. Lets face it people do more in their beds now than just sleep and wink, wink. Since03/2017 I have looked forward to a great night sleep and I have not been disappointed. it's been a very comfortable experience and I wake up rested so that contributes to my overall wellness. How do you put a price on that? I did a little cost analysis and figured that I spent $1,800.00 thus far I have owned the mattress two years and two months. that averages out to be exactly $2.23 a night for a great night sleep. So far, this mattress is not showing any signs of wear, lumpy depressions or sagging. What's a great night sleep worth to you? I wanted to make sure I was happy with my mattress before I posted a comment. A mattress is a big ticket item and a big decision. I'm absolutely thrilled with my new "Aireloom" mattress and the decision to buy it from the Sleep Shop here in Auburn. (Keeping it local) Hassel free, no pressure sales and I'm happy with my purchase. I went back a year later and bought a new pillow. pillows have come along way and they just enhance the overall experience in my opinion. So, treat yourself if you can. These people love what they do and do it well and it shows from the second you walk in the door. This is family owned and they are amazing! We had a mattress which failed so we went in to look for a replacement and recommendations. We weren't even buying a mattress, just using them to get out replacement from the mattress company. They were amazing! Very knowledgable and honest, no BS, and no sales pitch or pressure. They even filled us in on the history of mattress factories and and why ours failed but the same mattress bought today would be quality. We recommended this to our daughter and she had a great experience. Recently we went back and purchased a new king set. Same wonderful service! They threw in the frame for free and asked when we wanted delivery. I asked what day they deliver and they said ANY day I wanted. Amazing. You don't see this kind of service at any other mattress store. We had our mattress a few hours later. The place to go! Great customer service, great deals and great delivery. We wanted a quality bed at an affordable price. Fell in love with the "Tempur-pedic Cloud" but didn't want to pay the $2,500 (with nothing included) at a larger mattress chain store in Auburn. Went here and got a different brand (comparable) but half the cost and still got a 20yr warranty. He even threw in a frame and a mattress cover. Walked out feeling thrilled and within budget. Hay COY...So not happy. 3rd mattress... we stared with one and couldn't sleep on it then traded it out the second one was killing both of our backs now onto the third one (they were same brand but we were recommended to just get firmer of the same) I am now sleeping on a $40 air mattress and have no back ache. They came out and measured the depth of the waves in the mattress WHICH ANYONE CAN EASILY SEE BY JUST LOOKING ($1800 mattress) and it wasn't quite deep enough just missed by 1/4" (we aren't real big people) of course it wasn't deep enough because the mattress was FIRM!!! So here we are stuck with a WAVY mattress that has a warranty but the store won't make it work for us. PS your sales guy couldn't be more disinterested if he tried. LOVE MY AIR MATTRESS! read more

I probably checked out beds on 4 different occasions and every time, Coy, the manager, who knows EVERY"THING you need to know about mattresses, was so patient with me. He explained the different types of beds and I got to try out each and every bed!! Then last Thursday my husband and I went there and again, Coy was AMAZING and we tried out several beds and ended up with a wonderful bed and it was on sale!! When the bed was delivered he agreed to take my old mattress (still in good shape) to my daughters house clear across town for no additional charge!!! The delivery men were polite and helpful too. I have needed a new bed for some time but have dreaded trying to buy one. I didn't know what I wanted, didn't want to have to go all over the place comparing prices, etc. I decided I wanted to buy local if I could so planned to stop by Sleep Shop. I was encouraged by the Yelp reviews. This last Sat I had about 45 minutes and was nearby so decided I'd stop in, check it out, and get some ideas, and check off my first comparison visit. Boy, was I surprised! I was greeted by Clay. I told him I needed a new bed but had no idea what I wanted. I told him my price range and answered some questions. He was so great! He showed me a handful of beds, explained everything about them, why one was better than the other, etc. He was very patient as I asked questions and went back and forth between 3, then 2, then more questions about my final choice. This was the most pleasant major-purchase I've ever made! I was out in about 30 minutes and delighted my new bed would be delivered-for free - the next day! the delivery guys were very politer young men and extremely grateful for a tip. We drove up to Sleep Shop from Sacramento based on a recommendation, and we couldn't be happier with that decision!! We were helped by Adam, who was friendly, honest, and helped us to find the best fit for our money. He picked up on little comments that we made and used them to customize our purchase, including recommending a mattress that was made for side sleepers like us, and a mattress cover that would protect our purchase from our new baby when she's in it with us. The gentlemen who delivered the bed (Andy and Chance, I believe?) were equally respectful, personable, and efficient. All of this with pricing similar to warehouse store prices! We presented the staff with a few challenges and they always rose to the top with solutions, courtesy, and delivery of the goods. My husband and I had been browsing beds for a while as our bed was older and a full size. We wanted to upgrade to a newer and larger, queen size, bed. We ended up going into the Sleep Shop Clearance store and they had just brought in a variety of floor models to their store. We bought a Nature's Spa Retreat latex bed for $799. The bed was 50% off their original price and was only used in a show room display for one weekend. They were very kind and gave us both a mattress pad and a queen size bed frame for free- not to mention delivery was also free. Coy, the man who sold us the bed, gave us time to think and left us alone so we could talk without constant sales pressure. The whole experience was fantastic- they even moved our old bed upstairs to our guest room when they delivered our new bed. Later on, online, I found that this exact bed retails for $2449-$3600. We got a fantastic deal and have never slept better! This bed and store are awesome. read more
