We found all the staff at Eagle's Nest to be very pleasant, friendly and accommodating. We had about 15 rigs, and rented one cabin. Paul placed us in sites very near each other, and close to the pavilion which perfectly met our needs for the event. The pavilion near the creek, with electricity, lighting, a nearby restroom, and running water, was a great set-up for our group meetings and meals. Paul even set up a fire ring near the pavilion for our evening campfire and music. The camp facilities were very clean and level, with full services at each site. The restaurant on site (Fireside Inn) has an extensive menu. Try the cauliflower soup ... it is FABULOUS. Eagles Nest is conveniently located near Cumberland, MD - a great local tourism spot with museums, shops, restaurants, and a scenic railroad ride. The campground is still a work in progress and we look forward to going back to see how it is coming along. Paul has a great vision for further improvements and is working hard toward that end. With a mix of seasonal and transient residents, most in self-contained units, there is little need for public facilities. Some in our group might have preferred a public bathhouse (in future development plan), but the lack of a public bathhouse would not prevent our return. Happy trails ...

We had a great experience at Eagle's Nest September 2019, our 39th annual 'Rolling Thunder' rally. The camping, accommodations, food and entertainment were some of the best we have enjoyed. Overall: A good, casual campground with clean cabins and decent amenities…read more We recently stayed at Benner's Meadow Run Campground for the Labor Day weekend and had a good overall experience. We stayed in Turkey Cabin 1, which was clean and adequate for two adults and two children. The full-size refrigerator was a nice feature and gave us plenty of room for food and drinks. One thing to be aware of is that the cabin photos on the website can be a little misleading. They may give the impression that Turkey Cabin 1 has a separate bedroom, but the main bed is actually in the living area. Our friends stayed in the Grouse House, which did have a small separate bedroom. So, if having a separate bedroom is important to you, make sure you confirm the cabin layout before booking. The stairs leading to the loft are another thing worth mentioning. They have very shallow steps and a fairly aggressive incline and, in my opinion, are not built to normal building-code standards. Thankfully, we had no issues with our two 11-year-olds using them, but I would definitely be more cautious with younger children or anyone who has difficulty with stairs. The campground store was convenient, but I think it could be stocked with more basic necessities such as milk, butter and similar items. It did have many of the typical camping essentials, including items like batteries and other supplies, so it was still useful to have on site. We rented a golf cart, which was definitely worthwhile. The electric cart had surprisingly good power and handled the campground's stone roadways very well. It was a convenient way to get around the grounds. The pool was clean and well maintained. As someone who owns a pool, I pay attention to water quality, and the pool appeared to be fresh and properly maintained from a chemical-balance standpoint. The biggest disappointment for us was the fishing. We were there over Labor Day weekend, and the fishing was very, very slow. The larger lower lake appeared to have more activity and life than some of the other areas, but we saw very few fish being caught aside from a handful of bluegill. If fishing is going to be a major part of your camping trip, I would keep expectations modest. Overall, I would recommend Benner's Meadow Run Campground for people looking for a casual camping experience with clean grounds, decent amenities, golf-cart access and some activities over holiday weekends. It isn't a luxury camping experience, but it provides a comfortable enough setting for a family camping trip, especially if you go in knowing what to expect from the cabins and fishing. Last concern about the cabin was that the hot water lasted maybe 2 minutes. Dreadful. Use the shower houses if you require more time like most do.

There is not much to do here, so this would be great for a stopover (just to get a night's sleep as…read moreit is very quiet) on your way to your actual destination. We were lucky enough that there was a County Fair going on when we were there (although very costly admission) that we could walk to as there was nothing else near that we knew of to do. If you don't own property around Deep Creek, you cannot go down to the water's edge because it's all privately owned property, unless you go to the State Park (or rent a boat from one of the shops), which the State Park is about 13 miles (we were told) from there. There are four networks for IT connection (only two showed up on my laptop), but I could only get on once for a few minutes (and it knocked me off). It's so far out, I even had a time tethering into my laptop, which I normally do not have issues doing this. You cannot stream any shows from their internet per their sign, but if you are lucky enough to get on, it's too slow to even worry about trying to do that. They had one restroom/shower building for the entire RV Park, which is crazy, and most that stay there, it appeared, owned boats and were seasonal campers. It's actually so far out that I'm sure we will never go back to here again! If we want to go to Deep Creek, we'll plan well and get a place at the State Park. I think the accommodations there would be much better, with more to do there.

This is located in the quiet, peaceful little town of Confluence. It's very close to amazing biking and hiking trails and kayaking, fishing, and rafting. The house we stayed in (their are several options) had 3 bedrooms with baths. The common rooms are spacious and gorgeously appointed. The decor is very tasteful Arts and Crafts period. The owner, Robin, is a potter, and you can see her pottery throughout and buy it too. The huge kitchen and dining room are available for your use. A full breakfast is provided. There are TVs in each room and the lounge area. It is IMMACULATE. All COVID precautions in place and we felt very safe. It is dog friendly which made a big difference to us. The charge is $20 per night. Our dog loved it Robin and Dan are lovely hosts and did everything to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. Super nice people. There's not a whole lot to do if you're not into nature here. Eating establishments limited although we did have a good meal at Rivers Edge restaurant. The hiking is excellent.

This stop was our two-day "play and reset" window between Acadia NP and New River Gorge NP -- a…read morequiet breather in the beautiful WV mountains. We stayed at the lodge and had breakfast there both mornings, mostly because options nearby are... well, nonexistent. Luckily the buffet was generous, the food was decent enough to fuel the day, and the views helped everything go down a little easier. Service, however, could definitely benefit from a hospitality tune-up -- a smile and a bit of warmth go a long way before coffee! That said, the park itself is lovely. We enjoyed peaceful trails surrounded by lush forest, and the falls are truly worth the trip -- dramatic and grounding. I got in a few good hikes, while my husband happily took in the waterfall views from the accessible paths, which are thoughtfully laid out and easy to navigate. In short: Beautiful park Scenic lodge views Buffet that gets the job done Service that could caffeinate their cheerfulness Perfect little nature pause before hitting our next national park.

The campground is famous for its sold out annual Bluegrass festival yet it is gaining attention for its powwow events. It was very easy to find the campground. We went to the Five River Campgrounds for the Third Annual Powwow in Parsons in June 2025. It was the most meaningful pow wow I ever experienced. The owners of the campground (Joyce & John) gave the sales of the tickets to the powwow to the MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women) Memorial Grove. The non profit organization is involved in promoting awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Some of the performers gave their earnings to MMIW Memorial Grove as well. The Five Rivers Campgrounds owners welcomed us with open arms and immediately noticed us as photographers. We do a lot of philanthropic work in photography yet we rarely get noticed or thanked by many people for it. The owners of the campground were selling tee shirts and stickers with our photography. We had given permission to have our photography used to the performer we have taken the photo of and we were happy to see that he & the owners of the campground were displaying our photography on tee shirts and stickers in the campground shop. The campgrounds are beautiful with views of the mountain. Immediately staff helped us park and alerted us of the speed limit on the campgrounds. The powwow was held outdoors and there was an open air arena with a roof to provide shade. The stage in the venue had a shelter and a good view. You had to provide your own seating, yet we knew that beforehand. The fee for the pow wow was $10 for two days, and we captured the most memorable and beautiful photos we ever took on those days of performers in regalia against green foliage and the mountains. The powwow was small yet the amazing camaraderie and performers were unforgettable. This was one of the finest powwow venues in ambiance, performance, connections, and professionalism we ever experienced.
