Hundreds of theater enthusiasts, friends and family came throughout the ten day festival and were astounded. The diversity and professionalism of the performances are resoundingly applauded. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming: the staff and volunteers always helpful. A food and drink bar gave the music theater a relaxed sophistication . Local food trucks set up at the front curb. I saw and heard a dozen performances. Next year, I hope to volunteer and see and hear more Slant Culture.

I think this year's TEDx Tyler Park was a huge success!…read more There were artists and vendors outside the convention room. Everything from jewelry, paintings, photography, a VR exhibit, and more. There were multiple live artists creating as the speeches were going on. And the presenters were incredible. From musicians, to philanthropists, to creators and innovators. There was a lot to soak up and some incredible experiences to hear about. I have no doubt everyone left the event inspired and motivated. The AC Hotel was a beautiful location with lots of room to mingle and move around. The networking was great. Lots of interesting and creative Louisvillians to talk to and learn from. I definitely met people I'm going to connect with again after the event. Oh and Safai Coffee and Hi-Five Donuts are always great additions to any event. Definitely will be coming back next year!

In a world that is so focused on pointing fingers and fake news, it's incredibly refreshing to get to listen to people who tell it like it is and back up their words with positive action. TED would have been good enough- but donuts, coffee, vendors and artists, and cool people of all sorts pushed this from awesome to incredible. Also, once again, a big thanks to the Yelp team! They are always friendly and make events warm and welcoming!

It also helped that I got weekend GA tickets on Groupon for $50. First of all, there are some kinks to be worked out. Most ATMs didn't work on Saturday and despite what the website said - most vendors didn't take cards. Not knowing what to expect, I was woefully unprepared. I was in the middle of the crowd, near the stage for Tim McGraw. It was so hot and I was so dehydrated that I left the crowd and my friends and watched the remainder of the show from further back. Sunday - I was better prepared. You were able to bring in an unopened bottled water each day. Parking was easy both days and I didn't wait long to get out at the end of each day. Food was delicious. I got some pulled pork from the BBQ place that just melted in your mouth. I also had a drink from the tiki bar. Drinks were overpriced but that's to be expected with festivals. For the first time out, this festival had some HUGE names! Everyone I saw put on a hell of a show. I hope this becomes an annual event because I had a hell of a time!

Vip bar had many bartenders and lines were never long for a drink. Air conditioned bathrooms were nice. Little to no lines when ordering food. Shade and mister fans nearby. Cons: the pavilion while providing shade, also kept the heat in. It was cooler outside of the tent. Not all beverages were available at the vip bar- there were more options outside of VIP. Although there were couches and tables, hammocks and benches, they were all taken. There wasn't enough to go around. There was only one way in and out of the stage area, so if you were up close, it took forever to get out to get back to the bar. Overall, having some personal space and shade was really worth it. And not having to wait in line for anything was huge. However, the festival needs major improvements. First, they need WiFi whether free or paid because it's impossible to text anyone to communicate. Also, nothing was getting uploaded to social media. And the map in the Hometown Rising app could not load because of slow service. At the end of the show, ordering an Uber or Lyft was impossible. We couldn't connect with the server. Second, the entry process needs help. Our tickets were scanned and we made our way to VIP. When we got there, they wouldn't let us enter because we had no lanyard or bracelet! We should've been given those when we entered. The VIP guy told us to wait in the vip upgrade line for our bracelets or go to the festival booth. That line was over an hour long. So while my date waited in line, I took our tickets and hiked all the way back to the entrance to see the guys at the designated driver/special needs booth. They had no idea how to help. Then I went to the entrance to ask and was pointed to the other entrance. Thankfully they were able to help me there but it was a hike back and forth throughout the festival to try to get what should've been given to us when we arrived!!!! Drink selection was meager. They had natty light seltzer water in one flavor which was gross. They had cheap beers and nothing imported other than Stella, and the best bourbon they offered was old Forester. The food was tasty. I had a pulled pork sandwich no bun with coleslaw. We ate at the standing room only bar top with random people since no seating was available. The artists themselves were awesome. We really enjoyed Jake Owen, Keith Urban and Luke Bryan. Sound was good. The video screens worked well. They did a good job keeping everyone on time. Overall, I had a great time at the festival. But I wished for some improvements, especially in knowledge/organization of the staff there. I would attend the event again, pending who is playing, and I would absolutely get VIP so I can enjoy my space and short lines.

It's been years since I've been to the Kentucky Center and I love what they've done for upgrades…read more The quintessential art (crushed cars? flattened train?) that I remember from my childhood remain fixtures in the walls while the new (new to me) conductor's podium in Whitney Hall is dreamy and modern. The acoustics are well designed, carrying singers or orchestral performances to every seat. AND I haven't had to wait too long in a line for the ladies' room during intermission for the shows I've attended.

Restrooms are located to the left of the entry doors, which is very convenient on this level. We were also able to exit the venue and access the parking garage very quickly post show. With regard to comfort of seating, this show was almost 3 hours long with an intermission, and we commented the seats felt extremely low to the ground and uncomfortable overall.

There were more food trucks this year and they were smart by moving them off the main street of the festival. The food court area decreased the overall foot traffic on the main drag. The beer, merch, ticket buying, and porta-potties were still in the street. This year also brought many vendors that were placed in the street. I'm all about supporting smaller businesses and people that make things. I'm not sure if this is the proper venue for that though. I compare this much smaller festival to Forecastle, Bunbury, Lolla... yes, this is a small festival but if they keep this up it's only a matter of time before this festival explodes. When this festival explodes, I'm not sure if independent vendors are suitable for a large festival crowd. Luckily, they weren't looking to chat up their product unless you approached them. That's great! Seven Sense is still free which is cool. The number of bands have increased. I think there were nearly 40 bands this year. Most of them were local while others were from surrounding cities. It seemed less crowded this year. I'm not sure if that's because the interest wasn't there or if it was because things were more spaced out. It also could've been because a million other things were going on in Louisville over the weekend! Beer is available. They even have special tappings every hour. Great festival overall. With a festival time of Noon-3AM, you should definitely stop in here if you're bored on the Saturday it happens. My only peeve is with some of the special tappings. If you're a local business putting out special tappings for this festival then don't put out tappings that you have at your business. Some of the tappings here were significantly cheaper at their origin location... which in some cases are 1-2 miles away! Create special or rare brews for the festival.

I feel like soon enough, this festival is going to grow big enough that it can't be held along a few blocks in Schnitzelburg for the low, low price of NOTHING. And we'll be able to look back and recall....remember when Seven Sense was small and free and we got to be part of that? Or maybe not. Maybe it will stay small and local and cool. It is a small, one-day, mostly local music festival. No focus on any specific type of music, so there should be something for everyone! My two faves were Ruby the Rabbitfoot and JK Mabry and the Maybes. I heard Alanna Royale on the way out and wished I could have stayed longer to listen more! I really love that two of the venues are indoors (The New Vintage and Zanzabar). Sure, only one of those places has climate control....but they also take credit cards (instead of needing cash only outside) and they have flushy toilets! The two outdoor stages are at opposite sides of the street and there was little to no sound bleed between the two. There were great food truck options. But I HAAAAATE that the ONLY place you can get ANY beverage is from the beer tent. Like....I have to wait in line with the drunkos to get a water or coke to go with my food? And they were NOT next to each other....the food court and the drink tent. This is the DUMBEST. In all, it was a fun day, what I was there for. I hope it continues to grow, particularly in popularlity. Keep your eye out for it next year!

Bench seating can be a bit uncomfortable by the end of the show, so we try to remember to bring seat pads or a blanket for more comfort. There is an intermission to allow for a stretch, which does help. Food trucks are typically on site, but we've decided to bring a picnic basket in the future since selection and service have been somewhat inconsistent. Pets are welcome if well-behaved AND leashed. Still have some rare entitled attendees who don't adhere to the rules though, so be aware. Had a dog rush the stage last night and disrupt the performance, as well as some owners who use 30-foot leashes and are a trip hazard.

Although I initially missed all 3 of the plays this summer they replay all 3 on alternating nights…read morethe last couple of weeks of the season. I was able to view 2 of the 3-Anthony and Cleopatra & Two Gentlemen of Verona. Both plays were well done and the actors were excellent. It's free and in Central Park in Old Louisville. Do make a donation if you can. This is their 66th season and we are so fortunate to have the opportunity to see them in our city especially for free.
