They call their main stage area a "listening room" and urge patrons to silence their devices. The gist here is that they want to promote an environment where people are really focused on the music being played, without distractions. And if for whatever reason you're here to see a show or take part an event that is in the courtyard in back, that space is also very inviting and well laid out. Beyond these simple facts, if you come here you'll also notice some other unusual aspects that will hint at the fact that you're not in a normal concert venue. For one thing, there are no beverage sales -- it's entirely BYOB. And if you want to bring in your own snack too, that's kosher. I can't say I grasp everything about the place, but the reason why it's called a "music & arts community" is because this operation is run by a nonprofit, and they prefer to be in the business of serving artists rather than selling drinks. For the true night owls, or for local musicians, there is a membership option but almost any event is open to the public too (perhaps at a slightly higher entry price). Some events are ticketed, others are free or have "suggested donation" attached. And maybe best of all, none of the proceeds go to Ticketmaster.

We had a great time getting to know the team and hearing how Jubilee Field came to be. I enjoyed an Aperol Spritz and sitting inside the bar. The tables, lighting, paint, and decor have been designed around Jubi, their adorable mascot. Even the bathrooms are fun! A food truck, My Three Sons, is a permanent truck at the spot so you have food options and don't need to leave. Several patio tables and literally a field to brainstorm events here - while we visited there was yoga and a DJ, plus I've seen promotions for trivia on their social pages. Follow them to keep updated. Family friendly, which is a plus for us. We have two teens and love introducing them to Louisville's local spots.

The owners are very sweet and community-centric. And they are regularly hosting events and vendor markets on the lawn. But don't forget, their bar is open for regular business, too. A quick disclaimer - my review is more an overview as I was there for an event not a paid class. Last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend an event with the Louisville independent Business Association (LIBA) at Turners. LIBA had several of the instructors available to show folks how to do beginner moves on the equipment which included silks, trapeze bars, and hanging hoops. I'm getting over a cold, so didn't try it out for myself, but everyone who did had a great time! The instructors were so helpful (and flexible) with participants ranging in age from grade school to senior citizens. They demonstrated how to use the apparatus and then talked people through the basics. During a talk later in the evening, one volunteer said that the club has been producing a circus for over 60 years and that people of all ages participate. She had taken up aerial training in her 30s after having two kids! The friend that went with me was interested in a private session so we checked out their brochure. They offer memberships, classes, birthday parties, and private sessions all at very low cost (way below most gym or club memberships). We had such a great time watching other people try it out, I think we'll be organizing a ladies' night soon so we can see if we're up for the challenge!

They moved from Breckenridge Lane to Bardstown Rd. From what I was told, the new location is bigger than what it was before. And it is a pretty nice size space. Once you walk in they have a screen for you to sign a waiver for individuals who are participating. Towards your right there are arcade games which only take money coins not arcade coins. They have a change machine for you to get change. There is a throwing ax area, sumo arena, bounce house arena and a gaming arena in addition to the foam shooting arenas. There are two party areas that are separated by a wall and a net for privacy. From a party perspective the lowest basic package is $300. With this package you receive 45 minutes in the party room which you use first and than one hour in the public foam arena. You do not get the access to the private foam arena. Which I think they should include a 30 minute private arena to the basic package so that the birthday child can play exclusively with their friends but that is more money. You get access to the other arenas but not the arcade game because it only takes money. They have guns to rent and for the birthday They do provide nerf guns for you to shot but it's only the basic one shot gun. For the birthday child they get an upgrade to a bigger gun to shoot more darts. You can upgrade your gun for an additional cost or bring in your own nerf gun which I would recommend. The cost is $15 per child for one hour of play and $20 for 90 minutes of play. Not too bad! Overall, my kiddos enjoyed it and would possibly go back.

Unfortunately, we were one of the last slots of the day and Smash Lab ran out of electronics to destroy before we got there. They offered us more glass items to smash instead. One thing to note is that you can bring your own items to smash- glass bottles, electronics, whatever. I also recommend putting together a playlist before you get to Smash Lab because you get to connect your phone to your smash room speaker.

When we got into the room, it was already cluttered with leftover debris from previous groups, which immediately made it feel unprepared and rushed. On top of that, the room wasn't set up with any of our items when we arrived (the employee was sitting in her car when we got there), so we lost a noticeable portion of our paid time waiting for things to be brought in--meaning we didn't actually get the full 50 minutes we paid for. The biggest letdown was the item selection: their idea of "two small electronics" was literally two computer mice, which feels misleading at best. The large items--a TV and a PC tower--were acceptable, but that was about it. We did get a selection of glass items in a tote, but they were all pretty small and we had to set them up ourselves. If we hadn't brought several of our own larger items, there's no way we would have had enough to entertain 6 people for the allotted time, let alone feel like we got our money's worth. There was also nothing useful to set items on--just an old tire--making the setup awkward and frustrating (other facilities have platforms of varying sizes). Overall, for $160, this felt like a very poor value and not at all what was advertised. A rage room should feel stocked, intentional, and stress-relieving--not like you're paying to finish off someone else's leftovers. I wouldn't book this package again unless they seriously improve the setup and item quality.
