Just like with our back yard project, we met with Carmen several times to work out the details of our front yard. Carmen being busy as he is would often schedule our meetings on the weekend, either Saturday or Sunday. I mean I've never dealt with or met a contractor that would give up their weekend to meet with a client to discuss a project. Carmen was always in communication with me either by phone or text, even if he was delayed in getting back to me, I always heard from him. If Carmen was delayed in getting back to me, he would apologize for the delay. Based on my experience with Carmen he as always been about customer service. He was patient when working with us on our project. He offered suggestions when I strayed away from what we wanted to achieve. His knowledge and experience kept the stress to a minimum. Carmen's crew of family members are professional, polite, and always cleaned up after their day was done. As far as value, Carmen's pricing is very competitive. When trenching for pipe lines, the crew neatly removed grass and dirt, then replaced, stamped and raked, leaving the lawn intact and in far better than expected condition. He is genuinely willing to take on challenges and explore solutions that may be outside the typical scope of landscape construction. Rather than steering customers toward what is easiest or most familiar, Jonathan takes the time to understand what they want and works hard to figure out how to make it happen. That willingness to go beyond his comfort zone in order to deliver what the customer envisions is something we really appreciated. Our yard was…read morea complete mess before they came (with really hard uncomfortable small pebbles, hard dirt along the sides of the house, and wood chips in large spaces making it all kind of unusable). We had about 4 other landscape companies in the area come out first to give us an estimate on our project (Madrone, Pacific Outdoor, Purlieu, Atkinson) and a few of them actually wanted a pricey "design fee" before they would even give us a full/complete estimate. We already knew the basic idea of our design that we wanted, and so an extra design fee did not make any sense for our project. We ended up choosing True Landscape because their pricing was the most reasonable out of the group! Also, their representative George, seemed really committed to the project. He took measurements when he arrived, talked through a design plan, gave us a location to check out some of the landscape products to choose from, and even followed up the next day with some samples. George was also really easy to work with and scheduled/brought out the crew fairly quickly and the project only took about a week! In terms of the redesign, True Landscape installed new pavers, extended out our grass area, set up the drip water system, built a new planter box, and added large pavers and nice rocks around the sides. We are really happy with how it all turned out and our yard looks much more modern now : ). They transformed the outside of our home, and it now looks and feels like a magazine spread! Just today, I received compliments from two separate strangers on the front yard. We constantly get compliments on the appearance of our home. Samantha was the landscape architect who created the design, and it was amazing to see her lay out the vision. She saved us space in ways I definitely couldn't have conceived of on my own. She said the remodel would be like doubling our living space, and she was right! Scott oversaw the construction from start to finish. He was very attentive and obviously cared about and was fully invested in the success of the project. He had an expertise with plants and gave great guidance to give me the colors I wanted in plants that would work for our space and the SoCal heat. I am constantly smiling at the plants Scott suggested. They are thriving, and I wouldn't change a thing. The crew was respectful, clean and did a beautiful job. It was a long project, but Pacific Outdoor kept their initial timeline. Our main reason for going with Pacific Outdoor was that they were a one-stop shop. They could do everything. I have been very pleased with the results, which have really elevated my enjoyment of my home's outdoor areas. I would also caution anyone considering going with System Pavers to steer clear of those crooks. I wasted thousands of dollars having them do a terrible job on my pool deck, and had to have Pacific rip out their work and fix it. It was an expensive mistake that I hope to save others from repeating. If I had gone with Pacific in the first place, I would have saved lots of money and hassle. I began using Larry back in 2006. We needed a few things after moving into our home in SLO: a…read moreretaining wall, in the back yard, a dry creek from the side of that retaining wall, and a drain around the house to keep rain from ever flooding the house, and carrying it to the front yard. He put in drain covers over this drain at all the downspouts around the house. By 2015 we asked him to put pavers in place of our driveway and widen it, and use pavers to replace the sidewalk from the driveway into the house. A year later we had him remove the grass in front and he carried the dry creek out from the back yard to the front ending with that drain outlet at the deeper end of that.He did much of the planting in front then too. in 2017 I discovered a state offer to increase rain storage and he helped us with our 660 gallon overflow tank. In 2020, I asked him to deepen the dry creek in front to a swale which would allow extra rainwater not able to be caught and held in any of my tanks, into the swale and be allowed to soak into the ground water from the outlet of the 2006 installed drain. In 2022, when we had something crazy like 8" of rain in one day, and it flooded into the house, he installed a new drain cover as needed and tied it into that original 2006 drain. See the pattern? He can adapt his original work as the owners live on the property and their designs, needs and desires adapt, and change over time. It need not be just a one time job, it can be a relationship which improves the property over the years. I have always felt I received excellent Value for his work, and that of this employees.
