Perfect lake cottages. Clean, comfortable, pet friendly.... You will be back year after year!…read more Angell Cove Cottages has been my "Go To" vacation spot for several years. The location is ideal if you want a relaxing, quiet, beautiful, pristine, and tranquil setting for your Maine trip. Its location is ideal for day trips for shopping in Freeport, sightseeing, and trips to the coast. You can go boating, fishing, and swimming right from your front door. The cottages are clean, well stocked, safe, and beautifully decorated. Each cottage has a grill, well stocked kitchen with utensils and pots and pans ready for every need from burgers to lobsters! They also provide recreational equipment for fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and just chilling out on the lawn, in the houseboat, on the dock, or in a hammock under the trees. Don't be surprised if you see the same vacationers each year.... it is "How Life Should Be" in Maine.

More time for relaxing in a hammock! We hiked around the grounds, found the well-stocked self-service game shed, horseshoes, badminton nets. Also self-service canoe/kayaks/lifejackets. Plenty of chairs by the shore for looking at the view. We took a canoe over to one of the bigger islands for a picnic lunch. The next day we kayaked over to another island where an eagle nest had been reported. We enjoyed swimming at the beach. Be sure to bring water shoes as there are some freshwater clams living here. I truly felt like I was finally on vacation when we were all sitting by the shore of the lake at sunset, listening to the loons sing, with fellow campers playing guitar. Kids were playing by the swings waiting for the campfire to be ready for marshmallows. I wish I could have stayed longer. This place is well taken care of, very friendly hosts. They allow well-behaved pets too, which was nice for our new pup.

It was so convenient to just unload our rides for the entire stay. There are hundreds of miles of accessible trails from this property. The old farmhouse is really comfy and newly restored. All the comforts of home with mother nature right outside the door. We really enjoyed sitting in the many windows and watching mother nature go by. We saw so many different animals. The beds were very comfy and we had everything we needed to cook our own meals. There is a great grocery store in downtown Bethel plus a handful of good restaurants in the area. At the end of the street is a boat launch to the Androscoggin River so I'm going back in the spring to put my kayak in. I thought the price for this farmhouse was a really great deal especially considering we didn't have to go anywhere once we got unloaded and situated. The kids enjoyed hiking the trails and playing in the snow. There is a really large field where the kids could play very far from the road. And the old barn is a hoot! We were amazed to discover that all of the structures were built from hand-cut wood that was lumbered there on the property. If you are looking for an escape from the city then this is the place. I highly recommend it and I will be back!

The view of Umbagog lake and the surrounding woods is very beautiful and an enjoyable sight to look at, especially if you're walking around the spacious property. I've been coming here for a few years now, and everytime has been great. Also, the owners have a very friendly and adorable cat who often greets visitors. Mr. Cat is a very good guide and has always made my family and I feel welcome.

I had booked a…read morerafting trip for my friends bachelorette party and were looking for something that could accommodate all 6 of us. My first interaction was via the phone and the owner was very curt. First I wanted to book one night, but she stated "We can do that, but we usually don't." Not wanting to cause difficulties, I contacted the other girls and we all agreed to stay for 2 nights but wouldn't be able to get there until late. Originally we thought we would get there around 8 because the owner said she "goes to bed early." Unfortunately there is no service and we ended up leaving later than expected and didn't get there til 10:30 pm. The sign is not lit up and is very difficult to navigate after the sun goes down. We ended up going down the wrong driveway into her house/ office one- causing her to wake up. She asked us to come sign-in and then directed us to our cabin. The cabin had 2 full size beds and 2 fold-up cots. One cot had multiple stains- dark brown which looked like blood, but who knows (we did not even use this one). We were told to bring our own pillows, blankets and towels- there were some blankets and pillows there but I didn't even want to touch them. There were multiple screens that were broken, letting bugs in when the windows were open. The water smelled of eggs and it was difficult to even shower as the smell was making us gag. The website stated that there was a gas grill and firewood- this was not true. There was no grill and the 2 huge piles of fire were "not for sale, they are for heating the owners house." We had to drive over 20 minutes to Errol, NH to buy firewood. The second night we were there we had a fire in the wood stove, drinking and having a good time- we may have been a little loud but we were not out of control. A guy (not sure exactly what he was- the owners boyfriend, a friend or relative) came storming up to us shouting and cursing- stating that we are being too loud, that we were going to be kicked out and that he was going to call the police. We told him we were sorry and it wouldn't happen again, but his unnecessary behavior went on for 10 minutes. It wasn't until the owner, who was there throughout this guy's meltdown, grabbed his arm and made him leave. We ended up checking out an hour early- having removed all trash, cleaned and put everything back the way it was. These people were so unprofessional as we left he flipped us off. We will not be returning and I would not recommend this place to anyone. We also were only supplied with 2 rolls of toilet paper and ran out within 24 hours.
