This place is fantastic. We spent 4 nights there last week in Rainbow North and Rainbow South. The place is nestled in the woods and is very private. Cabins were awesome, clean, and the owner was very accommodating. Each cabin has its own theme. None of them are close to each other so you get your privacy. I would highly recommend staying here. The location is outstanding, we had fires every night under the stars. During the day you enjoy the views of the beautiful property. The game room was pretty awesome too. read more

My wife and I have rented 4 cabins in the last 4 years in New Hampshire and Maine, and this was the best one by a stretch. Bob and Amy are more than welcoming and accommodating. The cabins and grounds are beautifully maintained, and though you get the feeling of isolation and wilderness, there are plenty of activities within reach. It's the best of both worlds. We will DEFINITELY be coming back yearly, for years to come. Whether you're looking for a romantic getaway, some time alone, or some family fun, THIS is your spot. We have been here several times now. We have stayed at Rocks, Loggers, and now Wilderness. Our last visit was 7 years ago, before we had our son. It was great to revisit now with him. What a wonderful spot for a getaway! Loved the workshop cabin, it was spacious, clean and utterly cute. The backyard offered plenty of privacy and had a fire pit which made for an amazing evening under the stars. The number of stars we saw here automatically multiplied by a million than what we would see elsewhere, it was a surreal experience to sit by the fire with some music and watch the stars. We got our own bedding, utensils and glasses for the trip and that helped. The entire property is very well maintained and we were impressed with how each cabin was laid out with it's own unique character. It was our very first experience staying at a log cabin and thanks to Josselyn's cabins we had a relaxing experience. If I could provide any feedback it would be the lights on the deck - it was a dark night when we stayed and using the grill was a little hard, we managed working the grill using a flashlight but having a bit powerful light on the deck would help. Edit: I have nothing to lose by writing this. The cabins I went up to were vacant and there were no children that I saw that day anyway. I truly have nothing to lose by writing this post. It was 2.5 years ago and I have not talked to the owner in all that time, so I am not harassing anyone. Just want customers be be aware of your unstable behavior. I dont think anyone should trust you with their money or vacation. The owner is crazy. My father was nice enough to gift $500 to them over covid to help her business survive because she had talked to him for a while and seemed so nice! . A couple months before my wedding when I was to rent ALL but Two cabins, I called many many times and left multiple emails that I wanted to see the properties in person to figure out which house would sleep which guests. I told the owner the exact date and time, again through multiple modes of communication, that I would be there, weeks in advance and never heard back. I was visiting the area to wrap up wedding plans with the venue, as I live in Massachusetts. I showed up at the exact time I said I would be there and was looking around the cabins when the owner pulled up to my car and told me I was trespassing! I laughed, thinking she must be mistaken.. I was not just some random person! I am a young woman who had told her I would be there. She accused me of breaking in.... which is just completely untrue, and said she would call the police! I scrambled to get other housing around the area and found a GREAT AirBNB to stay at just weeks before the wedding, so all worked out. But do not trust this owner. She sounded so sweet, and talked so much, I was SHOCKED that this woman seemed to have a totally different personality in person. Trues the reviews, don't depend on her. We loved our visit to Josselyn's Getaway Log Cabins! The Wilderness cabin was the perfect size for our family, two adults and two kids. Only a few minutes to Santa's Village! Very clean and stocked with everything we needed, pots/pans/dishes/etc. Only issue we had was that the carbon monoxide detector kept going off during our last night. But that's out of the owners control. I called and left a message and they called me back within a few minutes and got it settled. Overall we definitely plan to come back for another stay! I was surprised for my birthday to getaway from Boston to enjoy a winter wonder escape up in NH. We stayed at the Wild Wood cabin which is the biggest.. wow absolutely beautiful! The view from the kitchen to the back yard was so beautiful! The pebble stove kept us warm throughout.. customer service was great. The beds were super comfy!! However.. checkout was at 10am and we had 6 guests with us. It was -10 out, the men were fighting agains the snow and keeping the cars warm while the woman cleaned up the house to leave it as clean as possible.. we were running a bit behind schedule when all of a sudden out from the basement floor a door opens 3 dogs run in and a loud obnoxious with poor customer service yelled out "you're still here??" We startled as we didn't know where it was coming from. And we were already out the door.. I had to tell her no, we were leaving just waiting for the cats to heat up. It would have been nice of her to come in thru the front door, not the inside of the house and asked if we were ok, or if we needed help as we were a bit behind schedule. Her rudeness took a star away from being a perfect score of 5.. not to mention now it scares me for the future to rent it knowing someone has access to come in from the floor while we're not there, and or sleeping. It became spooky and creepy!! The camp ground is beautiful but 100% privacy is comforting and would make us consider another cabin. read more

I've been coming to Josselyn's for many years. The change in management, and now seeing the poor review left on Josselyn's page, has inspired me to write my own critique of the site and its management. In short, I can assure you that Josselyn's Getaway Log Cabins is still the same experience you're used to. Don't let the news of the new management scare you off. I've been in two cabins since the changeover (Loggers Cabin and the Christmas Cabin). Both have been kept up to expectations and thus far, I see no negative changes to the structures or the grounds, which I should say are beautiful, and have been a preferred setting for my travels in the far Northeast. In the event you're unfamiliar with Josselyn's, they are a cabin rental site tucked away in the somewhat sleepy, pine-laden valley of Jefferson, New Hampshire. The cabins have been around for some time, but they are kept in top shape and have a charm to them. Some units are older and others were just recently built. They are authentic cabins made of logs and log furniture, each one having it's own yard and novelties. Inside you'll find a kitchen and stove, with plenty of household conveniences and ample bedding. Outside you'll have a fire pit, and with some models, adequate seclusion. Step outside on a crisp Autumn morning to smell the sugar maple and pine...there's nothing else like it. :-) My only constructive criticism for the new owners would be to monitor the level of noise coming from a group of barking dogs on premises at random times of the night. I believe that when I was last there (October 18th, 2017), the tenant of the rented unit above the office had multiple dogs, and they barked really loud at the drop of a hat for ten to fifteen minutes at random times, past 10:00, too. This cut into my peace and quiet by the campfire. The next morning, they were running around the grounds freely. That has to stop. I realize dogs have become popular to have these days, but they need to be kept under control by responsible owners. What I experienced in that regard was unprofessional. I could take it, but some people might have big problems with this. For that reason, Josselyn's slipped from five stars to four. When I revisit again, I'll update my review if they have fixed this canine problem. Hopefully they do. read more

Please take the negative reviews seriously, as I didn't, and this is what happened. Sorry for the length of the review but needed to give the full picture. I read the reviews and was a little concerned about the overcharging and the mistreatment as well as previous theft charges on the owner, but wanted to give the owner the benefit of the doubt. Well, I learned my lesson. My husband and I rented the Wilderness cabin for two nights. The first incident was when we arrived. The previous day I received two emails, both were payment receipt emails. One was supposed to be the instructions of how to access the cabin. I think it was just a mistake that she sent two payment receipt emails rather than one receipt and one instruction. We were in the parking lot and called the phone number twice. No answer both times and I left a message clearly stating we did not receive the access instructions and were in the parking lot. As we were sitting there a young man walked into the "closed" office. With no response from our phone calls, my husband went to the office door and knocked figuring at least the young man would answer. No one answered. I also emailed the owner. We waited about five more minutes and finally got an email that said, "Just go to the cabin It's unlocked and the key is inside the cabin". I emailed back and said "thanks we are all set" as we got in. One thing we liked about this property was that it was pet friendly. After reading through the pages of policies, I signed the "contract" as she calls it because there wasn't anything that I would not follow and not do. However, when I read that their office was closed and there was no onsite contact, I asked about the pet sitting they offered as I couldn't understand how that could be done with no onsite contact. She emailed me back (everything is done via email) and said they could accommodate and asked me what type of dog I had. I answered the question. The last line in her email about answering our pet sitting question was "Just confirm you will be doing this service." I also asked about referrals for places to eat, to which she sent a nice email with links and the last line on that email was "See you around 4:00 p.m. Just come to the Wildwood cabin and knock." Which I thought was weird because I never "confirmed" the pet sitting reservation as we hadn't decided if we were still going to go out. We didn't because it rained all weekend, so we stayed in the cabin, which for the record was very nice. Fast forward, we checked out an hour and a half BEFORE check out and I emailed her at 8:30 a.m. My husband and I literally cleaned the cabin, even though it was not a mess at all, but we swept the floor, washed down the bathroom, washed down the kitchen counters and everything else, following all the "cleaning policies" to the "T". Nothing was out of line, dirty, wet, or anything. I got home to an email with an additional charge of $25 for the pet sitting. I politely emailed back saying we did not use the pet sitting service, please reverse the charge. To which she replied "You were not courteous enough to cancel the service you asked for so there is a charge. We had someone sitting there that needed to be paid, so the charge remains." Rather than emailing, I called and said that I never "confirmed" the pet sitting. She argued with me, and I said ok, well I guess the reviews were right and when I said that she called me "a piece of shit." EXACT words. I was literally shocked. She said people like me that don't follow the rules are pieces of shit. I told her we left the cabin spotless, cleaner than when we got there. She hung up on me. I will admit at this point I was furious. I called back and said ya know I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt but what others had written is true. Honestly, I could care less about the $25 but at this point it was principle. When I called back the second time, she then said, "Oh and your dog urinated under the refrigerator on my new floor". I was absolutely in disbelief at this. This was a straight out lie. I wondered why this wasn't said initially. My dog is completely trained and in no way shape or form urinated anywhere in that cabin. I know because I did the floor!!! She outright lied. This led me to believe I am not dealing with a "right" person. There was no point in carrying on. She hung up when I called her out and then I emailed her and said "Since you hung up on me you can keep the $25 plus the $10 tip we gave for the cleaners. There is no reasoning with a person that does not tell the truth." We left a tip because that's what my husband and I do everywhere we stay. I even wrote, Thanks and our names. You can decide for yourself, but the way she spoke to me and lied, I would steer clear of her. I did also file a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. read more

9/11/2020: I received an email indicating that my reservation was cancelled because I didn't respond to an email sent to me on 9/2/2020 with a deadline of 9/11 (well today IS 9/11 within the deadline period). I received no such email. I was then told that we didn't clean the cabin. We swept out the cabin and followed the checklist. Apparently, the cabin has already been rented (before my deadline expired). As soon as I received the cancellation email, I contacted Josselyn's Cabins. She complained and said she dreaded our coming each year (we take our employees and their families there as a treat). I spoke to her several times during our visits and she never mentioned this issue. She couldn't even be bothered to give me a courtesy call that this was an alleged issue. I would have gladly paid additional money if what she said was true. If you want your reservation cancelled because you don't receive an alleged email and they cancel your reservation before the deadline then try to stay here. My family has been going to Jefferson NH on Columbus Day weekend since my grandfather started the tradition with my mom back in the 1950's and now my siblings are still going and we bring our children. As such, we've stayed at so many different places over the years from The Mountain View Grand to local inns and campgrounds. So your response is full of crap. You say it was cancelled at midnight on 9/11 yet your cancellation check was written and issued 9/10. It seems like unfair and deceptive business practices to me. read more

CHRISTMAS CABIN Great little getaway spot. Impromptu weekend, never stayed on this side of the mountain range, it is gorgeous! Cabin is great, only issue was the shoveling. Drive was cleared but pathway, stairs and half of deck was frozen in. There was a shovel so we could clean up but as I said it was frozen in. However, on their handbook more then 6 adults will charge extra. We had 6 adult and 4 kids. They charge me $150.00. We never use their back porch. They charge me 100.00 for not cleaning up. When we never go to the back porch. My daughter was car sick, so she vomited and my husband to use their vaccum. They charge me another $100 for not cleaning the vaccum. We're clean family, we always pickup our messes. I never dealt with any own like you! I hope no one will go there. It's funny I talked to the owner before I check out. She did not mention anything. Your business will drop because of you! BTW I should never leave $40 tip. 1st of all we never use the back porch. We did not distroy your vaccum. We only use it once. Your vaccum already broken as it is. You just want money from us. And I called my bank you tried to take out another 250, but it got declined. WOW! this really shows how professional YOUR ARE. The cabin was immaculate, with plenty of space. The view from the balcony is truly breathtaking- we got some awesome pictures of the moon between the trees! And the stars beautiful! It was so easy to get in touch with staff and they were able to assist and answer every questions we had. They are very friendly and kind. It's also very convenient for families with kids because it's 1 minute drive to Santa's Village. BEWARE! My husband and his friends had a bachelor party here in October. They did burn a blanket (which the owner charges way too much for) and a few guys were cleaning and checked out late. We were charged fees accordingly. You leave a bad review anywhere and the owner fraudulently charges extra fees almost six months after the fact because she's upset. She literally tried charging $150 today (when they stayed in October) which I called my bank and let them know it was fraud. Check her other reviews on here, Google, BBB. It's a common theme. She just wants to keep all of your security deposit and not give you any of your money back. So many other nice cabins to stay in, this isn't one of them. read more

I came from Cape Cod ( 4 hour drive) and It was so worth it. I stayed at the Workshop Cabin and the attic was so spacious with more than enough space for me and my family. The fire pit was cherry on top to an awesome weekend. We were able to experience a beautiful sunset while sipping on something warm. Great place to build memories. Called the office and they said there's nothing they can do about their own property road conditions. Lol poor management. We just stayed in the Wildwood cabin at Josselyn's. What a great place. So peaceful. We were up for a wedding. When we checked in we were immediately greeted with a warm welcome and info that the wedding party had asked them to deliver. We brought our dog but had forgotten to tell them ahead of time. It was no problem and they were very accommodating. The cabin was large, clean and had plenty of parking. Each room was equipped with a fan and comfy beds and bedding. The main living space was perfect for our group. We spent time on the deck and around the table playing cards during our down time. Each deck has a swing and gas grill. The shed has firewood for sale if you want to do a fire pit at night. The stars at night were amazing. I can't remember the last time I saw such a sky. I guess there really isn't any "light pollution " up there. Met the staff and the owner and they couldn't have been any nicer. They were all so interested in the wedding and our experience. My friends and I would all love to book the whole property for a group getaway. If you are looking for a special place to enjoy your time away from the city you MUST come here. Josselyn's For the last 2 years has been our "Winter Home" and has never disappointed, but this year was different... I Should have checked YELP before we left and read the other two reviews but had no idea Josselyn's was under New Management... Big Mistake..... "BIG MISTAKE!" This Year we returned to Josselyn's for our 3rd annual February Vacation 2018 with our 4 beautiful children. "no matter what the memories and family excitement is something we control, and the Beauty of the White Mountains can't be destroyed by a New Owner that doesn't care about her Guests or the "Diamond Property she purchased" We arrived at Josselyn's late, and received a courtesy call letting us know our cabin was all set and would be unlocked for us once we got there, and we could settle our bill and check in in the morning..."Awesome" great customer service after a 4 hour journey to our annual "Winter Home" ....But the Next morning things would change, We've stayed in the larger Christmas cabin 2 x's before but love the accessibility and coziness of the Hiker cabin, which we stayed in before.... "Let me say "Zero updates had been made" lets start with the pull out couch that our son hated last year because the springs kept falling out and it smelled like it was 30 years old!!!! Probably because it is!!! My son slept on that old stinky thing again, and I brushed it of ... "hey its camping", we've seen worse" The cabin was completely under stocked with trash bags, toilet paper, and paper towels for a five night stay... so bring your own, because the charge you! Want to enjoy a nice glass of wine or toast marshmallows with the kids by a nice winter fire???? The price of firewood has now almost doubled from $5 to $8 thats if you can find the fire pit, which we eventually did on our last night... How bout a warm shower, " We'll you got 5 mins til its freezing because The electric water heater runs out of hot water extremely fast..... Overall, still nothing was gonna stop us from having a great time The final day had come, and we were all disappointed to leave but new we'd be back next year and this Time We'll try the "Rocks cabin" a lil more private and updated... As we packed and cleaned the cabin like we've done every year leaving it exactly as it was once we got there... I went to the office and had a wonderful conversation with owner about our stay and told her we would be back next year.... Then set of on our journey home, but before we could even unpack our clothes and settle into our home back in the city, My wife received and Email from Josselyn's saying that we were charged $100 for destroying a bed sheet and pillow case, breaking a sliding door, and breaking a handle on the oven!!! Wow...Wow...Wow...! Great First Impression New Management J/K considering the door was already broke and hadn't been replaced "EVER" we did talk to our daughters and they did admit they got something on the bed sheets and hid it because they were embarrassed rather than tell us.... Sorry buts thats only $25 max for a sheet and pillowcase, in the days of AMAZON PRIME! As for the stove handle???? I have no idea what there talking about, but if it hasn't been updated in for as long as the couch, yup definitely broken.... A group of friends and I stayed here this past weekend for a wedding and it was awesome - the cabins themselves are charming and adorable, and there were many thoughtful touches. Fire pits, porches, large tables for congregating and spending time together, and there were amenities ranging from wifi to ironing boards/irons to AC and fans that made our stay a comfortable one. All of us talked about coming back for a boys weekend or a fun family reunion; these are the perfect settings for something fun like this. read more

This was our first visit to Josselyn's Getaway Cabins and we had a wonderful time! We stayed in the Loggers cabin which was clean, warm, and more than enough room for our family of 5. The transactions and booking online were so straightforward. We arrived after 5, and it was no problem at all. Everyone at the office was so helpful and welcoming. The place was spotless. There was plenty of heat, more than enough hot water, and plenty of towels (the nice kind--not those really cheap bleach-y ones) and blankets. There were DVDs and tapes at the office which was such a nice touch. AND satellite TV? Fabulous! Great reception. Btw, great WiFi too. The yard and fire pit were so nice. It was so convenient to be able to buy firewood right there. And very reasonably priced. In fact, everything was perfect. We are so appreciative of the experience and can't wait to return next year. Edited to add that on both this review and my review on trip advisor these same owners replied with completely inaccurate stories/information in attempt to invalidate my reviews. This is not only extremely frustrating but also makes me feel the need to warn other vacationers that these people will clearly not own their own mistakes/behavior... this is concerning in the sense that if you're staying with them and something goes awry, they have the capacity to be untruthful and potentially make something challenging for you. It's so sad that this will be my last memory of Jocelyn's. My family came to Josselyn's every Columbus Day weekend for about 15 years. We were never anything but fully pleased with our experience and deeply looked forward to our family tradition there. Upon our arrival this year, we learned there were new owners. We attempted to put down deposits on cabins for the following year (as we have every year for over a decade) and learned that there were not enough cabins left for us to book (the previous owners would hold them for us). So what this means is that we will now no longer be able to come to the place we have traditionally come to for so very long. This was intensely disappointing and sad for us. What was the response from the owners? Word for word "We are under new management. No information was passed along about how things used to be done." No assistance with trying to perhaps book some spots for the following year. Not even an apology. We received an extremely aloof and uncaring response. The kicker is that the next night one of the new owners came out to our fire seemingly drunk trying to make small talk with all the people she disappointed. Absolutely inappropriate behavior from people trying to maintain a successful family business. Could not be more disappointed!! read more
