You head on over to the great guys at WGA. (I had to list this under "Shopping" and then under "Computers;" I guess Yelp folk never need computer repairs? Is that why there's no "Computer Repair?") I was seriously considering dumping Old Lights-Out Sticky Keys and buying something new. I don't like to toss things that might still have value, so I took it in to WGA. They showed me their "menu pricing" brochure, and I was astounded. For around one-fifth what I was going to spend on a NEW laptop they: * Bench tested the beast * Did a diagnostic scan and removed a bunch of crud * Provided AND installed a NEW larger, faster, more handsome hard drive * Copied over ALL my files * Cleaned six years of filth and schmoogg from the innards. And the outards. * Got me back on the road in about 18 hours, start to finish. I sure wish more people offered such great service; the landfills of the planet would be less full, our collective pockets and purses would be more full, and Dean and Norm at WGA would be even busier than they already are. Thanks for some superb service. They do a whole bunch of other things, too, but repair is all I've experienced so far. (They have three different levels of pricing, too: cheapest is you bring it there, drop it off. Next, they'll come out to YOU, do the proper shut-down, all that, take it in for the repairs and bring it back to your casa for full restoration to service. Third: They'll come over, sit there for however long it takes, look out the window during the hours-long scans. I'd pick door number one, Bob.)

The first time was when I unknowingly put thermal paste underneath my CPU and ruined my motherboard. So after I purchased a new motherboard, I was still having issues with the PC.
