We can't recommend them enough! The price was fair, which included high quality paints. I had received four proposals and chose Proper Painting because of their apparent knowledge and, to be honest, nice and neat appearance. Their work stood the test and now we're fans! The work site was kept clean and organized and, at the end of the job, they left the place tidy! The house looks wonderful and makes us smile whenever we look around. We'll definitely call on them again and have recommended them to our friends- something we rarely do. Thanks guys! Gina & Walt

One of my wife's co-workers had hired Proper Painting and Home Improvements to do their similar home and were impressed with the results. My wife hired Dave and his team and they did the job quickly and correctly with an outstanding job on both the interior and exterior paint jobs. The results COMPLETELY changed the look and feel of the house, and, after new flooring went in, they came back and did the final touch up to ensure everything remained tied together. After 8 months, we decided to convert a former utility closet into a wine cellar. It formerly housed a large boiler and fuel tanks and was, to be frank, a disaster. Dave and his team came in, surveyed the requirements and then went to work. Not only did they do the priming and painting, they repaired loose concrete bricks, built a closet for the water heater and then did an outstanding job getting new tile flooring in. Our house is what we want, and it is largely because of Dave and his team.

I was referred to Edgar by a neighbor when I told her I wanted to re-do my kitchen. She used him too and said to me - you will love Edgar. Well, after a 4 month renovation, I too "love Edgar" and his team. For my project, I took the lead role in terms of design and Edgar executed my vision to perfection. I am so glad I choose his company (he leads a crew of employees and was on-site for some part of each day). Like clock work, they showed up at 8AM (about 5 guys) and everyone knew exactly what to do each day. They then cleaned up at the end of the day (5:30). Overall, I can't say enough great things about him and his team. I am shocked there are no reviews yet posted, but you can't go wrong with Edgar. I would be happy to be a reference if someone meets with him and is considering a contract for a renovation. He also does smaller jobs of any size.

After combing through reviews for dozens of local drywall repair companies, I decided to reach out…read moreto Crisp Line Painting for a few projects around the house. Alan quickly responded through Yelp and I sent him additional photos/information about what we were looking to fix. He provided me with a detailed and reasonable estimate via email that covered the drywall repair and painting. Once I approved of the estimate, I spoke with Alan on the phone and we picked out a couple consecutive days for the repair. (He explained that certain drywall repairs need additional time to dry/cure before they can be painted.) Alan said they would confirm the evening before and Giovanni would be the one making the repairs. The project got pushed back by a day due to another big job they had to complete. (It wasn't a big deal, since I had blocked out the two days anyway.) Giovanni and an apprentice came to the house in the morning to look at each project area before loading in their equipment. It was amazing how quickly they worked and patched up the drywall. They were just about to take a break for lunch and let the repairs dry when we realized we had an issue with the paint. At the beginning of the repairs, I said I would be responsible for providing the paint. The former owners of the home left labeled cans of all the house paints for us, so I thought everything would be fine. Unfortunately, the ceiling paint for the largest drywall area was nowhere to be found! Giovanni was fantastic and cut out a small section for a color match, even offering to pick up the paint. He went above and beyond for something that was 100% my fault. When they returned, they painted everything carefully. Giovanni is so professional and a perfectionist! Everything looks fantastic and we are thrilled with the work. If I ever have additional drywall repairs or painting projects, I will definitely contact Crisp Line Painting again!

I hired Competitive Painters for a kitchen and bathroom renovation involving cabinet refacing, wood…read morestaining, and new countertops. The countertop subcontractor they used was excellent -- punctual, clean, and detail-oriented, with great craftsmanship and customer service. Unfortunately, my experience with the prime contractor, Competitive Painters, and the owner, Robert, was very disappointing. His two workers were polite and hardworking, clearly trying to do the right thing, but Robert repeatedly made excuses instead of addressing obvious issues. The time he spent explaining why something couldn't be fixed was often longer than it would've taken to just fix it. He even said his goal was to be "good enough," which summed up the entire experience -- no attention to detail, no commitment to quality, and a focus on checking the box and finishing as quickly as possible rather than delivering good work. He was also condescending whenever I raised valid concerns or asked questions. It was clear that staining is not his area of expertise -- most of his previous work seems to focus on painted cabinets -- and he was defensive when I pointed out uneven tones, color inconsistencies, or areas that were clearly missed or didn't look good. In the end, I let them finish just to have the job completed, knowing I'd need to hire someone else to repaint the newly stained cabinet doors to achieve the look I originally requested. While the countertop subcontractor and Robert's crew were great, I would not recommend Competitive Painters for cabinet refinishing, staining, or kitchen remodeling work.

Hugo knows a lot about what a Realtor will want when it comes to selling a house. He also knows a lot about what home inspectors will look for. He gave me an estimate that initially seemed high but I was not aware of the amount of labor in removing the original wood covering and replacing all of it with PVC. The amount of PVC used amounted to a significant investment. Hugh and his team did a great job. I was disappointed that after giving me a price I was trying to get used to, he found that the original builder of our home had cut corners and he was going to have to remedy those problems. Said another way the final bill was 20% higher than his estimate. That's my only constructive criticism. I think I would have said,"it will be this much if we don't find any problems beneath the original wood cladding. The homebuilder, Pulte made unbelievable shortcuts in getting the windows installed. Hugo had to solve those problems. In summary I found Hugh to be honest, forthright and ultimately reasonable in his pricing giving the amount of time it took he and his team to complete this project. I would recommend him. My only recommendation would be to ask him what problems could occur with his project and what the cost growth could be on the project. I'm sure he was trying to get the work, but it would have been helpful to understand that it could be 20 or 40% higher than the initial estimate. This is a good contractor. You won't be unhappy working with him.
