We visited this afternoon as a family, the lady working the counter was super friendly. We saw their was a deal for buy 5 get one free which of course we took advantage of! We got cookies n cream, a brownie (which she offered to top with buttercream for us, flavor of our choice!!), pink champagne, German chocolate cake (this was our top favorite), viral dot cake and the almond wedding cake!! Stopped by Smallcakes over off McCulloch in Lake Havasu and honestly this place was a cool surprise. The cupcakes and cakes in the display cases looked almost too good to eat. You can tell somebody there really takes pride in what they make because the detail on some of these cakes was crazy. The underwater/octopus cake, the Highland cow cake, and even the funny "old age ahead" cake had everybody in the shop stopping to look at them. The wedding cakes were beautiful too. Tried the ice cream along with some cupcakes and everything tasted just as good as it looked. Not overly sweet, fresh, and actually flavorful instead of just looking pretty for Instagram. The chocoholic cupcake was dangerous. The pupcakes for dogs were a pretty awesome touch too. Big shoutout to Victoria as well. She was super friendly, patient, and just had a great attitude the whole time. You can usually tell when employees actually enjoy working somewhere and she definitely made the experience better. We got a cake for my wife's birthday unfortunately it was so sweet and the frosting was so thick that you really couldn't eat the cake you had to scrape the frosting off just to get to the cake and the center. It was supposed to be a cherry filling I don't know the cherry left town Like there's no cherry filling, literally as thick as a piece of sandpaper..... this place used to be amazing. I'm not sure what's going on so we thought we'd give it another try but this time the girl that answers the phone has a total attitude... you're answering the phone at a cake store for goodness sake!!.... I draw the line at that product wasn't that great and customer service on the phone was unprofessional...... the lady that runs the place is a sweetheart. She needs to find better help... Got this cake for my moms 50th birthday for 15 people, reading the reviews I THOUGHT it would be great! INSTEAD, go here if you'd like more frosting than cake. If you can even get ahold of them that is. it seems their phones don't even work or they just hang up on you. I've never seen a cake so heavy! On top of that it seemed like the whole thing was pieced together and half of the cake was falling off when it was picked up. I was also supposed to receive a call when the cake was done and never got one. My aunt went to pick it up anyways and when I was calling the store my call was denied every single time. 50th birthday cake mess! It looked a bit odd when I picked it up like it was melting from the middle and top layer was sliding but since I'm not a professional cake maker I trusted that it would be fine. I got home and put it immediately in the refrigerator . An hour later I open the door and the whole back of the cake fell off. The lady at the store watched me leave with a very wobbly and heavy cake and never bothered to open the door for me. Omg sooo disappointed unbelievable. Ok let me get this out first. The gal i talked to for about an hour inside, great service. Showed her what I wanted & we talked about the font alone for like 10 mins, how I wanted it similar to pic, cursive etc..I was told it will look just like the pic except rose gold is harder to do so it might be a slightly different color but not much and other than that it would look just like the picture and the font that we decided on etc.. It couldn't be farther off and block letters it looks like Elementary School refrigerator magnets. "Oh but their chocolate and the they're edible" Really? My fam and I recently visited Lake Havasu and tried these while we were there. I am a baker myself and have been perfecting cupcakes my whole life. (Not to toot my own horn or anything) but I can RARELY find cupcakes that live up to my expectations because I can always tell when places cut costs and use cheap ingredients. These were incredibly delicious and you can definitely tell that they are made in small batches with high quality ingredients!! The only thing I would advise people of is that we showed up at around 3:00 and many of the flavors were already picked over. 100% understandable and I admire the quality over quantity, but If I were to go again I would go much earlier in the day for more options. read more
