We found this place today when I was looking for a place to take my daughter to get her a treat. They have lots of cupcake flavors to choose from, cookies, macarons and ice cream. We opted to each get a cupcake to take home. She chose a cookies-n-cream and I chose Boston cream. The lady there was very kind. We got home and we were very pleasantly surprised how soft and moist the crumb was and flavors were very good. Maybe her icing was a touch too sugary if we had to critique anything. The Boston cream one was great. Wish it had more of the cream to balance the sweet rich chocolate on top. The cupcakes are generously sized. IMO, much better than sprinkles and better value. Thirty minutes before my ceremony was scheduled, I received a phone call from Smallcakes--there was an accident, and my cake had been dropped. Obviously this was devastating news to receive as I was climbing into my wedding dress. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very calm, and assured me they would bring me a different cake in thirty minutes. I asked them to push it out by an hour and went back to my wedding (a little tearfully!). We had a beautiful ceremony, and I had totally put the cake mishap out of my mind. Just as we were leaving the ceremony area, Smallcakes shows up. And to my surprise and delight, they had the exact cake I had requested!! Unfortunately I was disappointed in the taste of these cupcakes. They claim to have the best cupcakes ever, but sadly this is a bold claim. I wanted so badly to love them! The frosting was too sweet and the cakes weren't sweet enough. I think I know what they were going for, a bit of a balance, but it didn't work out in my opinion. False advertisement of pupcakes for Valentines Day led to my husbands wasted time of going down there to purchase some, upon arrival he was told they only sell them on Saturdays. He will not ask questions so he contacted me to let me know it was not true that they would be available. I put a FB comment & pm that they ignored only to retort their stuff is not frozen and claim someone else posted the post. However, I guess they failed to realize they posted this all on the actual post they claimed to have not posted! Lol. Then I was blocked & they have blocked me or maybe everyone from posting a review, which is why on their actual fb page there is only good reviews. This location posted yesterday that they had cookie and cupcake sets that the kids decorate each for $25. I went in within 20 mins and they said you have to preorder them. I was extremely mad because it said hey were available so I commented on their Facebook page under their announcement that people might want to ensure they check because the available status is actually not the case. This business then decided to delete my comment so no other paying customer could see it and then block me from any future commenting. This is poor business and people need to know how Smallcakes is hiding real customers feedback from future customers. This is ridiculous because I have been a customer for years. Don't bother supporting this business because they are just trying to get you in the door to buy their ridiculous overpriced cupcakes which most of the time apparently you will need to preorder. Try going to a small business instead of this money hungry company that doesn't care about wasting their customers time and money!!! UPDATE: Now 4 months later the "owner" messages me with a bunch of excuses on why these kits are not available and that if I have vulgar language gets you blocked off there Facebook. Apparently, calling them out on their lies and false advertisement is grounds for comment removal even though no language was used. Go to sweet confections! The most delicious cookie cake I've ever had. They are a bit smaller than some cookie cakes you can find in stores but the taste and quality do not compare. Cookie cakes tend to fall flat by being dry and not very flavorful with mediocre icing. Smallcakes fills their cookie cakes with wonderful mini chocolate chips, the cookie cake itself is a thick, chewy and soft and the icing is delicious. Total home run. I have been an avid and vocal supporter of Small Cakes from the first try. But, the snotty 16 year olds working tonight just lost a loyal customer. We walked in 20 minutes before closing, plenty of time to get dessert. Right off the bat both girls working had an attitude. My youngest son ordered a cupcake and they repeatedly asked if we wanted to take it to-go. I ignored their implication as my other son wanted ice cream and continued with our order. We sat down to eat our treats and be on our way, but quickly realized my 5 year old wouldn't be able to put a dent in his ice cream before their closing time. My husband asked for a bigger cup or a coffee cup we could put the ice cream in, something with a lid or that wouldn't spill as the ice cream was super soft and already running down the side of the undersized container. With no emotion (I really thought she was joking at first) one of the girls offered up a piece of foil to cover the melting ice cream with... When I realized she was serious, I told her that really wouldn't work as we were driving back to Salado and it would be a spilling melted mess before we hit the highway. Her response was 'people do it all the time.' (Which I seriously doubt.) Who on earth uses foil to secure 2 baseball size scoops of ice cream for a car ride in a container made to hold half a scoop? Not only was her response utterly ridiculous, when she could tell how put out we were she walked to the back and didn't come back until she killed the lights as we walked out the door. I can generally deal with poor customer service in a job where no skills are required, but it becomes a problem when it's implied that my hard earned money and my purchase do not matter. There are a handful of equally qualified cupcake and ice cream shops in the area and I will happily take my money and support elsewhere. read more

Checked out this new cupcake place last night. I got a red velvet cupcake and my husband got a hot fudge sundae cupcake. They both tasted great. I have heard that these are "big" or even over-sized cupcakes, however I didn't think they were that much bigger than any other cupcake you could get almost anywhere else. The cake was very moist even though we picked ours up after 6pm. The cupcakes were very expensive. For two cupcakes we paid a bit over $8. We did taste test some of the ice cream and every one we had was very delicious. All that being said I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come here for a cupcake (especially considering the price) but it was still very good and worth checking out if you haven't been yet. read more
