I called seeking clarification for some things the PA had told me. On my last phone call with Savanna I brought this up her tone changed, the rest of my questions were summarily dismissed, and I was told I should see the PA again. I agreed and she set an appointment, for June 3 at 3:00. When I arrived at 2:55, I was told my appointment was at 1:00 and when the office worker heard me she walked over to the window and denied telling me it was at 3:00. The doctors, PA's and the rest of the staff are all great, but the frustration this one person caused me over a two week period was enough for me, I'm done with this practice. Meanwhile, I received a a certified letter asking if i had the procedure done. I mention this in case Dr. Spicer would like to know the name of the person he can contact me. I don't feel listing her name here is the professional thing to do.

I have been treated multiple times for skin cancer; I have a condition that does not permit me to…read moreuse mineral sunscreen on part of my face (this is an ongoing issue I am working through currently.). I spend a significant amount of time in my vehicle and after some research I decided the best course of action to mitigate more skin cancer would be to apply a ceramic film to the windows of my vehicle. In the State of Florida, you can get a medical exemption for applying a film to your vehicle windows. I completed the forms and on my fifth visit to see the PA, she told me she was not permitted to sign these. She stated that head doctor, Dr. Ruben Moreno does not permit anyone in his practice to complete this form. I find it interesting that a doctor who performs MOHS procedures will not approve and sign off on a document to allow me, or anyone with history of skin cancer (in addition to other skin problems) a safe preventative measure. I was told "thousands of people would want this exemption." (Yes! Why wouldn't they!?) I take that statement as an understanding it would impact this doctor's business - not in his favor. I want to provide some additional details with respect to the aforementioned. This exemption (HSMV 83390) has several conditions for autoimmune diseases listed; in addition, there is a box for "other", and it reads "... other medical condition which requires a limited exposure to light". It is a known fact that light, sunlight specifically produces UV which causes skin cancer. I am not requesting permission to "black out" or apply "limo tint" my vehicles, I am simply asking for a ceramic film with a light die that prevents harmful UV rays. Is Dr. Ruben Moreno's looking out for me as a patient, or himself for financial gain? Considering all the information - I firmly believe he is NOT looking out for me as a patient.

NP (or whatever she is called, who is doing all the actual procedures) is nice but very incompetent or unsure. She wants to take a biopsy of everything "just in case" and you know that your insurance doesn't cover those, so it will be hundreds for each. You can find better and more accurate information from the pictures from cancer.gov to get an idea if something is worth biopsy or not. Always get a second opinion! And by the way you will never see a "real doctor: and he is never there, and too lazy to even sign your documents or their letters himself ("electrically signed", they say). Then the front desk calls, those are almost a threat! ("If you don't come right away you will die or this can/maybe/possibly cause death, or at least we will mark your files as "untreated"!). What a joke of the office! I will never ever go to this place again in my life! I haven't seen more unprofessional people in any office, they are just using elderly people's medicare etc. for cash flow.

I had been scheduled for a procedure but when I arrived at the appointment I was informed about some limitations needed to ensure that results were good. At the time, I could not stick to those limitations and decided to reschedule the appointment. The office staff was unable to reschedule at the time and I was told I would receive a call to make the new appointment. After not receiving that call in a week, I called the appointment phone number and left a message (their message said someone would call back within one hour). Another week went by and I called two times in a day - same lack of result. The last time I told them that this would be the last phone call I made to them. I have still not received a call back. I am now in the process of looking for a new Dermatologist. While I had been very pleased with the medical professionals in this practice, I believe the patient (customer) service is severely lacking - in fact, this last time it has been completely absent.

After being unsuccessfully treated for 2 1/2 months I asked for a referral to Mayo Clinic. They ignored our repeated requests for three weeks and then were told to do it ourselves. We proceeded to get treatment in Orlando at a wound clinic. They repeatedly asked Halcin's office for results from a culture they had taken. They made the request 3 weeks in a row and were told by Dr. Halcin's office that they would send it but never did. So another culture had to be taken and paid for. All in all due to the incompetence of this office and in turn Dr. Halcin's neglect of her responsibility to see and treat, it costs us $8,000 out of pocket over and beyond what the insurance paid.
