Lula Financial - Amie Shapiro - Fee Only Financial Planner

    Lula Financial

    (45 reviews)

    Financial District, SoMa

I specifically worked with Amie…read more 15/10 recommendation. The first time we spoke, around a year and a half ago, Amie (gently) turned me away and shared her free PDF as a resource to get a better handle on my finances before I paid for her services. I feel like most places would have taken my money and not have put my best interest first so that was really surprising and honestly, solidified my interest in working with her. She has a really good character! A couple of months ago, we met for the second time and I had paid off all of my debt and had an emergency savings, so we agreed to move forward with the final call & financial plan! I feel a lot more confident about retirement and that I'm making the right choices with my money. Amie is very kind and straightforward, and also happy to answer any questions! I am 25 so I had a lot of questions haha. My only regret is that I did not know about a financial planner when I was younger. Had I had seen Amie at age 20 or 21 I feel like I would be in an even better financial situation. Again, I highly recommend Amie and can only imagine that the others who work at Lulafinancial are just as great!

I've worked the last 15 years as a professional freelance musician and teaching artist, and had never met with a financial adviser, so I came in quite nervous, though eager to learn. Within minutes of our first session, she laid out some excellent core tenets for me to follow, assessed my financial situation, was realistic and transparent, suggested several easy steps for me to start. She did all this while being supportive and encouraging - allowing me space to drop any guilt or shame for having "started late" on things like building retirement savings and investments. She was professional, knowledgeable, kind, and followed up immediately with a write-up with action items for me. Needless to say, I feel infinitely more confident and clear on next steps, and I'm excited to continue working with her. Do yourself a favor and hire Amie for a financial planning meeting! It's one of the most important steps I took in adulthood and you won't be sorry.

Balboa Capital Corporation - Promised Interest Rate.

    Balboa Capital Corporation

    Financial District

Beware! This broker misleads their clients with "Bait and Switch schemes" and use contracts to hide…read moretheir wrongdoing. This corporation is a broker and not a bank. They are also known as Ameris Bank but they don't service the loans. The actual loan ended up being serviced by Amur Equipment Finance out of Nebraska. The scheme started with a telemarketing call from an account executive called Matthew Kruger to which he guaranteed a competitive interest rate of 6.6% to 7% in providing a 5-year loan. See the text picture from Matthew. Balboa ended up adding a Per Diem charge of .03333% to the monthly payment. The monthly payment actually put the interest rate at 13.423%. My business credit is A-rated so I would have never taken this loan if Matthew would have been honest. I addressed the issue with a Branch Sales Manager Brendan Gibbs to which he continued to defend what is Predatory lending and issued no resolution. Unfortunately, I'm now in a legal battle with this shady brokerage firm. I hope this review will help people decide for themselves.

I will never use this company for a lease again. Their sales people lie, they screw with your…read morevendors, they have items buried in the fine print of their contact that that give you a tiny window to tell them that you want what you originally asked for. I requested a three year term on my lease with an option to buy. Close to the end of the term, which was clearly stated on the contract, I was told that I had to give them 6 months prior notice in a vey small window or that it would renew for another year. This was never explained to me when I signed the lease, and my salesperson, who no longer works there, never told me about this. They claimed to have sent me a reminder letter, but I have no recollection of seeing it. No other leasing company I have worked with have used such deceptive tactics, or tried to force me into an extended term that I never asked for or expected. When I tried to resolve the situation, it was like talking to a brick wall. They threatened me, and were unwilling to help or offer a solution in any way. All I wanted was what I originally asked for! Avoid this company!!! All they care about is money. They don't care at all about their customers. They are deceptive and have no compassion. Look elsewhere!
