I've worked the last 15 years as a professional freelance musician and teaching artist, and had never met with a financial adviser, so I came in quite nervous, though eager to learn. Within minutes of our first session, she laid out some excellent core tenets for me to follow, assessed my financial situation, was realistic and transparent, suggested several easy steps for me to start. She did all this while being supportive and encouraging - allowing me space to drop any guilt or shame for having "started late" on things like building retirement savings and investments. She was professional, knowledgeable, kind, and followed up immediately with a write-up with action items for me. Needless to say, I feel infinitely more confident and clear on next steps, and I'm excited to continue working with her. Do yourself a favor and hire Amie for a financial planning meeting! It's one of the most important steps I took in adulthood and you won't be sorry.

My wife and I engaged Amie for financial planning help to get a sense of how far we are from…read moreretirement. We found her super nice to work with, but we also ended up feeling that the service she provided was too simple for our needs. I think the level of detail in her planning would be appropriate for someone who is new to the basics of financial planning, and could be the right choice for clients who might get overwhelmed by too many details. But we ended up not feeling confident in some of her advice because we wanted to get at the underlying details. Here is an example. Aime provided us with a financial calculator to predict whether our portfolio was sufficient to generate sufficient income for retirement. This calculator was based on a single predicted rate of return in the market. We have since learned that such calculators ignore a significant factor, called "Sequence of Return Risk", which are accounted for by other calculators. When I brought this up with Amie, she said she had no objection to us using other calculators, so long as we didn't get overwhelmed. There were a couple of other examples where we would have appreciated more detail. For example, she recommended a 100%/0% stock/bond allocation. Since this is substantially different from typical advice, it would have been nice to hear more justification than she provided. Anyway, I ended up feeling that Amie is a great resource for beginners to get their finances in order. But for people further along, where there are significant risks to making mistakes, the simplicity of her approach may be insufficient.

They are also known as Ameris Bank but they don't service the loans. The actual loan ended up being serviced by Amur Equipment Finance out of Nebraska. The scheme started with a telemarketing call from an account executive called Matthew Kruger to which he guaranteed a competitive interest rate of 6.6% to 7% in providing a 5-year loan. See the text picture from Matthew. Balboa ended up adding a Per Diem charge of .03333% to the monthly payment. The monthly payment actually put the interest rate at 13.423%. My business credit is A-rated so I would have never taken this loan if Matthew would have been honest. I addressed the issue with a Branch Sales Manager Brendan Gibbs to which he continued to defend what is Predatory lending and issued no resolution. Unfortunately, I'm now in a legal battle with this shady brokerage firm. I hope this review will help people decide for themselves.

I requested a three year term on my lease with an option to buy. Close to the end of the term, which was clearly stated on the contract, I was told that I had to give them 6 months prior notice in a vey small window or that it would renew for another year. This was never explained to me when I signed the lease, and my salesperson, who no longer works there, never told me about this. They claimed to have sent me a reminder letter, but I have no recollection of seeing it. No other leasing company I have worked with have used such deceptive tactics, or tried to force me into an extended term that I never asked for or expected. When I tried to resolve the situation, it was like talking to a brick wall. They threatened me, and were unwilling to help or offer a solution in any way. All I wanted was what I originally asked for! Avoid this company!!! All they care about is money. They don't care at all about their customers. They are deceptive and have no compassion. Look elsewhere!

Huge credit to the lending department for funding my auto loan in just two days. I had recently applied with several other credit unions, and some are still reviewing my documents more than a week later. In contrast, SF Credit Union provided clear communication, regular updates, and a streamlined process from start to finish. Not only did they offer one of the most competitive rates I found during my research, but they also didn't require unnecessary conditions such as direct deposit commitments or other hoops to jump through. If you're in the market for an auto loan--especially if you're purchasing a Rivian--I highly recommend giving SF Credit Union a look. Their customer service, transparency, and efficiency made the entire experience exceptionally smooth.

Pretty much everything that could go wrong was going wrong - increasing costs, a surprise demand 1 week before close that I rent my current home out with a lease & a paid deposit, and denial of part of my income a few days before close. It felt like it was falling apart - it was messy on the lender's part, and stressful for me. I didn't want to continue - I negotiated an extension with seller, and then switched over to SFFCU. What a night & day difference! The team listened carefully to the situation, was clear up front with all requirements & potential underwriting risks, and we discussed how we could mitigate. What was great was they were able to talk to underwriter and get high level alignment up front to reduce uncertainty. Once I switched over, they swiftly got to work. Early on, they proactively called me and told me when rates were decreasing, and when rates were going to increase and I should lock in. I also had access to 3 different people on the team (Tim, Jazmin, and Tina) who all played a part, and depending on what was needed, I could easily get a hold of any of them with a quick call. Overall it was a smooth close process, and with the best rates I could find on the market.

I knew I was capable of getting things under control, but the road from here to there just seemed to hard to navigate without a map. Kathryn gave me that map. Gently, over the course of several sessions (and without judgment -- I can't tell you how valuable THAT is) Kathryn helped me and my sweetie figure out where our money went -- and then start channeling it in more productive ways. One cool thing about her is that Kathryn tries to get to the bottom of why you behave the way you do around money. (It's like food or sex -- it makes you act weird and crazy, but you can change all that if you respect what got you to this place, right?) She doesn't scold or shame you -- just has a great, positive attitude to help you go forward. I'll admit, it seems daunting, when you already have money woes, to spend a chunk of change on financial counseling. But when you're set up with a debt-reduction plan, monthly and yearly spending plans, and most important of all, a three-tiered savings plan, you'll see what a good investment that is.
