Purchasing a mattress is not a simple shopping process as I find it difficult to interpret an item description of the feel like, as opposed to physically touching and sleeping on it. In addition, similar mattress size can have a huge price spectrum varying from store to store. The greeting from the sales person was warm, friendly but professional. She was knowledgeable, listened to our needs and explained the different options available. There was absolutely no pressure to sell. We test-slept on all the different mattresses, while she gave us a good explanation of the difference. While price was certainly a factor, our primary focus was on quality and comfort as we would spend about a third of a day on it. As the item we selected was not in stock, it was delivered to us in 2 days, free shipping. The Queen size memory foam Bloom-Air mattress came in air-tight and shrink wrapped that was easy unroll. Although it is ready for use within 3-4 hours, we decided to let it take its full shape overnight. We are happy with the quality and indeed very comfortable to sleep on. Not the cheapest, but well worth it.

I was wrong and was my mistake not to read the fine print I guess. They use either AccorD which I did not have, nor did I want due to conflicts I've had with Desjardins in the past. So we went to another financial service they offer, which is Citi Financial. Last month, got a nice surprise on my invoice (No surprises before this time). 21$ were billed for my "Account creation anniversary", which is apparently stated on the contract. Here is how Citi Financial works: If you have more than 500$ left on credit, after 1 year of REQUESTING credit from them, they charge you a 21$ anniversary gift. Happy anniversary to me? Nothing could be done to waive this fee. I've called Dormez-vous twice and left voice mails, no return. What's the point of a voicemail if you don't return your customer's calls? Do I really have to go make a scene in store to get your attention? I've got more self respect than that and even if I fight by principle, it's 21$. It's almost not worth the time and energy. The sale itself wasn't bad, except I don't think the bed really suits us. Can't blame them for selling it to us though, because buying a bed is as complicated as rocket science and sellers from different stores have a tendancy to contradict eachother, noone seems to have the proper "formula". There's no way you can determine in 10-15 minutes of lying down on a bed if it suits you, that's clearly impossible. And of course, if you miss the "trial period" and you realize your poor night's sleep is due to your bed, you're pretty much stuck with it until the bed either has a defect or you change it. I would have rated Dormez-vous higher, maybe 3 stars, but the description of A-OK for 3 stars doesn't suit the reality... 2 stars sounds about right: "Meh. I've experienced better." What's sad about all this is that for 21$, both companies lose a return customer which might have redirected business towards you and given good press. Live and learn...

It was reversible, which they don't make any more, and that might be why it lasted so long... more recently I bought a mattress for my daughter and one for a guest bedroom for myself - excellent service, same great mattress, really professional store. The Futon was adequate, comfy to lie on for a few minutes, rather uncomfortable to attempt sleeping on and I prefer an extra - firm mattress. This led me to look forward to the Tatami mats that were to be delivered a month later. 2. The Tatami mats all smelled very strongly of mouldy hay, not the "sweet" smell described in reviews of Japanese tatamis, not anything like what I smelled when I was visiting Japan in tatami lined rooms and not anything like the tatami mats I looked at in the Futon' D'Or store when I was there to shop. I figured that this smell would dissipate after a few days - it did not - it was overpowering after a few days. I was not told by the staff that delivered tatami mats can be neither exchanged nor refunded as is written on the bill. I will try to get the store to take them back but I have a feeling that this will not likely happy. So I likely am out $550 for 4 tatami mats that smell intolerably bad to me. If the store refunds them I will change my rating in a separate posting. If the store does not refund them I will likely throw them out.
