We both got the Jesse's Function Burger: two smash patties; only ketchup, mustard, pickle onion, and cheese on a brioche bun. The presentation was fabulous. The patties had crispy lace edges with great beef flavor, fresh red onion and crisp pickles that just takes you to hamburger heaven. Perfect beef to bun ratio. Juicy and full of flavor. The bun was soft and held up well. The flavor is fantastic. Fries. I am not a huge fry person and can take it or leave it. These fries are phenomenal. I love the fries. They are like battered seasoned fries or something, possibly dusted with food crack because I actually ate half an order. Very tasty. The service was excellent. They also have the 3% CC Fee, so it's not just Des Moines area. Paid cash and no CC fee, plus no issues just great customer service and fresh fantastic food. The fries are included and not extra. I came through a couple weeks before and got a couple of the other burgers on the menu, but made some modifications. I wanted to try just a plain burger and it's definitely a solid burger. The smash sauce and other toppings can hide the flavor, so wanted to strip it down. However they have a lot of different options and everything I have had has been fresh and delicious. Nailed it on the smash patty. Very creative burger options. Cream cheese on a Philly burger is a nice touch. There was a special today called The Dutchess: Dutch letter cream cheese, homemade raspberry jam, white cheddar. Very creative and the flavors were incredible. Fries are also perfect. Pretty good. We enjoyed the burger as it had a little crispy on one side. I liked the fries and they were also fairly crispy. Onions rings are just that. We tried a Carmel brownie and it had an odd texture, not super sweet and not a ton of flavor either chocolate or brownie. It was pricy. $35 for two burgers, fries and substitut onion rings. I would probably give this a 3.5 if I could. read more

Wowza! These burgers are amazing! I took my son, who eats plain burgers, and he ate it in about three minutes. He liked it so much he got a second one to-go. I got the mushroom burger and it was also amazing. I am not a burger person either, and will rarely order one at a restaurant. But burgers like these are in a whole other category, and I cannot wait to go back and try a different one. read more

I travel for work and searched for local restaurants to try. I can say I am pretty impressed! Great variety of smash burgers, great onion rings and good selection of sides. Service was friendly, everyone seemed happy and positive. Building looks like it's a new spot in town and has plenty of space for small groups. Pepsi products, with Dr. Pepper and orange crush too. Amazing hamburger and delicious fries. Service was fast and pleasant. My husband's order did come with cheese which he requested not to have. Server offered to make him another but he ate it anyway and liked it. The ambiance is good, inside an old building with not much space, but takeout is available. It's a little hard to find in town which makes it all the more interesting to discover. read more

We went with the smash and grab burgers and we ordered two burgers to go home with as well the pb and bacon jam and the bbq banger two sides of the Gouda bites and cheese balls! The guy who took our order was very nice and very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu all of the food was just amazing and the service was fast and friendly! As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a kind "welcome" and a no pressure, easy going vibe. The menu is simple but intriguingly intuitive but with daily specials that make you want to order a second helping there is almost no need to look at it. The fries are delicious and any of the appetizers deserve to be sold at the most upscale restaurants. The burger is something that reminds you of what a great burger is supposed to taste like in this world of over priced and undelivered food. And to boot, it's in Knoxville Iowa. It's worthy of a main store front on The Riverwalk in San Antonio. What a gem. read more

My wife and I went here on date night. Thought we would try it out. First off the location and signage is very poor. Hard to see entrance and it was very dark with steep steps and no railing. Definitely would want to hold on and help your old loved ones if they are with you. Service was fine but we were only customers there. Food was solid but I have had better. The ratio of burger to bun was off in my opinion. Too big of a dry bun and not enough patty. Flavors were good. Unique menu which was fun. Thought the price was a bit high for what you get.
