we went around 11ish AM. We went through the drive through. When we got home, I took one bite of my spicy chicken sandwich and it tasted off. I took a smaller bite next and realized it tasted like old oil and it being reheated. my husband tasted it and said I was right. my husband who'll eat anything so there isn't waste said throw it away. it couldn't be consumed. given the time of day we went through, that sandwich was made the night before and then served to me.I haven't decided yet if I'm going to the health department yet. read more

My daughter ordered a single with cheese, and ended up with an SD card from someone's phone in her cheeseburger. When she returned the cheeseburger with the SD card on top, they offered her more food no refund. Its as local as a cow chip throwing contest at the state fair and as satisfying as the sweet release of built up anal pressure when her finally drop her off back at her house 5 hours later. It's as Des Moines as it comes and its built for you and everything your Iowa corn fed body, stock or aftermarket, wants. The carvings are real and you, just like me, will succumb to the weakness that just the though of it instills into your brain. It may not be as exciting as hot tub bong rips with Kim Reynolds and a couple of the local, surgically enhanced professional girls, catering to your every need but its damn delicious. Sometimes local is what is needed and who says that local isn't up to the same standards as better known fare. I've had them all and by all, I mean all that are "said" to be the epitome of burgers. In and Out, Shake Shack, Whataburger, Five Guys and while they each are pretty good, I'd put our very own B-bops ahead of each of them. You can trust me on this because of my very refined palette. Anthony Bourdains favorite guilty pleasure of burgerdom was In and Out and that's only because he never tried B-bops. Is it the best burger in Iowa? Of course not but it is the best fast food burger in Iowa and every other state I've ever eaten a fast food burger in. It's not sexy food and the whole 50's vibe I find nauseating but hey, that's what the 2 drive thru's are for. I'm sure some of you don't mind the whole American Graffiti thing at all and that's cool. I don't judge, except when I'm paid to, like when I judged that "who has the hottest grandma" contest in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Talk about smoke on the water. There was fire alright, it just wasn't in the sky. You know its going to be good when the brown bag you are handed has grease spots on it. They used to use white bags with their logo on it. I appreciate, I prefer the brown bags. It just seems less corporate, more real. So what makes B-bops so good. Freshness, beginning with the bun. I have never had a bun that was anything other than soft and fluffy. Granted, the bun is just the vehicle to hold and transport all that goodness to your longing pie hole...or is it. The bun can make or break an otherwise outstanding burger, just like a bad crust can destroy a good pizza. B-bops buns are soft, fluffy, lightly toasted vessels that hold within them and deliciously juicy beef patty, perfectly charbroiled, covered in melted cheese and your choice of ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. This burger stands on its own with none of those just as well as it stands with all of them. My current incarnation is a single cheese with no veggies except lettuce. Next week it will probably be something completely different. And guess what it doesn't matter to them because they will prepare it however you wish. If you get fries, add some dipping sauce like ranch or cheese. I normally go ranch. Occasionally, if the mood strikes like it did this evening, I'll add a 6 piece nuggets because they too are damn delicious and I'd bet that they are made with actual chicken. I usually go to B bops every couple of weeks, and decided to give it a go on the way home from a very busy day. Usually I get a very typical B bop's meal; deliciously greasy cheeseburgers with bacon, but I've always up until today, got hot, fresh, delicious fries. However on the way home I notice that every single fry was hard as a rock, I don't think one fry was edible. I ate them anyway, but I've never been so disappointed. The next time I go, I can guarantee I will sit and go through my meal before I leave the drive-thru. Even worse, it was busy, so there's no excuse for being served the bottom of the barrel read more

Chili cheese fries - OMG YUMMMMM!! BBQ bacon cheddar is super but could use extra sauce and the bacon cheese deluxe are amazing as well, tastes like homemade real burger patties!! Midwest burger/diner deliciousness. Fast food isn't always good these days, but this midwest really cranks up a notch with most everything they do. Their signature burgers are excellent along with the Pork Tenderloin and best of all the Loose Meat Sloppy Joe Sliders. Service was absolutely awful. Waited in line for about 25 minutes- which I completely understand!! Places can get busy and understaffed. When we finally got up to the window, we were not greeted with a hi or even a smile. The girl in the window had absolutely no costumer service skills and clearly did not want to be there. When we got our sprite it was watered down, so I politely asked if she could fill the drink with something else perhaps? She did not say a word and took the sprite and didn't return. I usually enjoy entering the vicinity of B-Bops, though, they somehow have managed to squeak minor inconveniences with each time I've visited within the last month. Their ranch is fire, drippy as fuck, but fire; that's 1 star. The food tastes fresh. That's about all the kind things I can say. First problematic time I came, I asked for the #1 combo which doesn't come with cheese. You have to ask for cheese to get it. It came with cheese. I hate cheese. I come a second time and ask for the #3 (a chicken sandwich), expecting to get some equal dosage of ingredients. I open the carton at my house and there is mayonnaise all over the ceiling, walls, and floor of this sh*t. I had to not only mop up the sandwich once, but twice, and still had mayonnaise gushing out everywhere. Where was the ketchup, mustard, catsup?? Nowhere to be found . By far my favorite burger joint. Ever. I remember the first B-Bops opening when I was around 8 or 9 years old. I'm approaching 41 and it's ALWAYS been my favorite burger. They're broiled, not fried. Salty and juicy goodness. They did change their Fries many years ago, they used to be similar to McD's, now they are similar to BK. Every time we come home from vacation, it's the first stop we make before home. No one is ever rude, the orders don't get jacked up. It's a small building with delicious burgers and very affordable. After a long day in the sun all my husband and I could think about was a burger and fries and B-Bops was a new place for us that we had never been to and it was incredible!! B-Bop's was pretty forgettable. It's marketed as an old style diner, but it is really a typical fast food place and not all that good of a one. I was a bit surprised to see this as one of the higher rated options in the area. Burger was OK. Fries were not very good. Chicken nuggets the same. Soda/Pop tasted off. My fathers milkshake was decent though. I probably would not go back. They do have a drive through though if you are passing through the area and none of the chains tickles your fancy. Let me first say I have been to various B-Bops in Iowa and eaten almost every item from their menu. This location is no different than their other locations, food made fresh and delicious. Their staff is always friendly here and the wait is not long. For those who do not know what B-Bops is, it is a classic made and tasting burger. It is higher quality than a fast food burger, but not necessarily a gourmet restaurant burger. I have tried their standard burgers and also Chicken, fish, and pork ones. Forget Five Guys and go to B-BOP'S! This is by far the best drive thru burger in Iowa. It's nothing fancy but it's if it's a solid flame boiled burger and crispy fires this is the place. I love their sloppy joe sliders! Fries are great and they are super fast. I always go out of my way to visit them if I am near one. Sandwiches are a little greasy. Fries are the shoe strings so with the decode and style of building it totally brings you back!! Usually friendly help and clean dining.
