Not a good work environment for women of color because it seems they want to be the only ones in my opinion, Analysia Acosta & Natasha Iverson need to be replaced for better management and a better work experience for anyone looking to join this "team". She was so nervous when we started at Waterloo and was up to her old tricks again with the "potty excuse", but we got the BEST teacher for our little girl. Ms. Ashton is AMAZING. She's fun, playful, sweet, encouraging, AND balances it with teaching and pushing my little girl. I'm amazed at how Ms. Ashton keeps track of where each kiddo is at in terms of their skills and what they like/don't like. She is patient and an absolute gem. I cannot rave about her and Waterloo as a whole enough. Just a few comments about Waterloo - we have had an amazing experience. From 2 of our kids being tentative to swimming to now loving it and seeing all the growth in their swimming is incredible. Today I watched one of my kids swim the length of the big pool and do a flip turn. There is no way I can do that as an adult. I'm amazed at not just the skills they are learning, but also the attention to form and technique. I can't say enough good things about the people who work here…read more Typically, there are fewer than 4 kids per instructor, but the instructors are very good at tailoring instructions and activities to meet the needs of each individual child even when there are four kids. I love that they gently push the kids just outside of their comfort zone. The entire staff is accommodating and friendly. My not-quite-4-year-old kid knows how to swim and a lot about water safety. They practice what to do if you fall in a pool (every class), asking an adult for help (instead of jumping in to help) if someone is having a hard time in the pool, a simulated accident where they jump in fully clothed, etc. When she started, she didn't want water to touch her face, and now she's learning how to take side breaths! All of the instructors are great, but my kiddo has excelled with Ms Michelle, Ms Fulori, and Ms Rayghen. They're AMAZING. To me, learning how to not drown is the most important "extracurricular" skill a kid can learn, and Emler of Anderson Mill seems to believe this as well. An extra bonus to help the community and (I believe) for character building, the school has donation drives for things like socks, school supplies, and swim lessons. The only downsides are: It's very humid on the pool deck because it's an indoor pool in Texas, so I recommend bringing a fan if you don't want to sweat profusely. You could watch through the glass, but that's not as helpful or fun IMO. The changing tables are in the main areas instead of the restrooms. Not an issue for some people, but I prefer privacy. You can get creative for that.

Every person has a place to be. Managers walking around, double confirming and keeping additional sets of eyes on the water. Each teacher following a well defined script, they have thought of everything. We enrolled our son when he was 14 months and are nearly a quarter of the way through the 14 week semester. Each week, he has shown improvements, from ability to hold his breath to moving his legs under water. The instructors keep track of different metrics to make sure each kid continues to get better every week. Our class has 4 other kids, which has been the perfect number. We've been extremally happy with the Water Babies class at Emler.

They are professional, safe, and focused on feasible goals for my kid's age of familiarity and comfort in the water. The teachers were calm and encouraging and worked with the fact that sometimes my kid loved being in the water and other times didn't want to get in. They are very available for calls by phone to work with parents on makeups or questions. I didn't feel able to give a full 5 stars since there are some things the school could improve on. We often had a different instructor each week, which I admit was a bit hard for my kid feeling nervous in front of a new person (the pandemic and being isolated hasn't help with people skills meeting new teachers so I know this is exacerbated to this year). But even besides that, the different teachers often didn't know that my kid was in their class, we would walk up and they would act surprised, oh they are in my class too? I think there could be better communication between the instructors and to the instructors, and a better job encouraging the kids at the start of the lesson (e.g. give us your name at least!) Secondly the temperature of the pool at the Marriott location is inconsistent. Sometimes warm, other times cold. If this could be fixed it would be very helpful for the younger swimmers. I think these are things that could be easily improved on to make the experience even better. Overall I am happy!

Watching all three of my kids build genuine water confidence over the past year has been amazing. The instructors are fantastic and keep communication clear and consistent. You never have to guess how your child is doing--the teachers always let you know when they've mastered a new skill or when they're ready to level up. With three kids, finding a place where I can book all of them in lessons at the exact same time is nearly impossible, but Waterloo makes it seamless and convenient. This was especially frustrating for us because our child had a experience with an instructor elsewhere and we wanted someone consistent, and in fact were told we were being placed with someone more experienced. That's not what happened. Our kid actually swims worse now than when she started. Also, the shower and changing area is totally open but in a narrow corridor, there aren't really enough showers during peak times, and it's just really chaotic.

Very clean, multiple dressing rooms, large waiting area with books, an aquarium tank, craft table to keep kids busy while waiting. They also supply things you might have forgotten like hair ties, lotion, diapers. All of this was very impressive! They also have real showers with soap, shampoo and conditioner- it truly had almost every single thing we wanted. Here's where we had to make the choice to stay with Emler and not switch to goldfish. The lesson felt much more fast paced and like the children were there to have fun vs learn real skills. My 18 month old can swim underwater 10 seconds but they don't start actual swimming until I believe 2 years old. I did love how nice the instructor was but this felt a bit more like a fun mommy and me experience. I think this is a fun place to go if you want to get your child acquainted with being in water.
