I have to say, when I read reviews online about this place, I was a bit scared, but this was the only place I could find that would see patients on Sundays. I managed to make a booking the previous day. When I got there, it felt like a money hungry company as the dentists didn't have cabins, but it was more open plan. I wasn't impressed by the secretaries that I had to deal with, zero customer service and even though I had my treatment and payment plan confirmed by my insurance, they still tried to charge me full price until I proved my right. All negative things aside, my dentist Kamil Noor was amazing, she was very sweet and professional, it really felt like she cared and had a sense of humor! I gave up on Smiles and moved to the Blackrock clinic who from a price point of view are around the same or perhaps 10% higher. Smiles are really about high turnover and the treatment plan from my point of view was well padded. I started in Smiles in Blanchardstown and thought that it was just that practice but turned out that this one was the same. I got mixed feelings about smiles. Great customer attention, gentle practioners -god u need that, dont u? They even check for u if u qualify for free treatment but they push u for treatments. I got 2xrays today that werent really needed since i wasnt in pain. Wasnt ask whether i want them or not and wasnt told that it came at extra price....the idiotic naive me thought that was a freebie in the view to get me to come back for a filling or two-and she unconvincingly found 3to do! Hi Everybody. Haven't yelped in a while cos I felt the reviews were written better then I could have hopes to. But I had the most amazing experience at the dentist last week. Yes it sounds a bit weird and no I am not into S&M ! Okay maybe a little but who doesn't like a light spank now and then but I digress. I lost a filling last week and so needed it fixed. Now have been to in total 12 dentist in my 27 years mainly because I have awful teeth and am always searching for a cheaper dentist to fix them. I rang the dentist i was with and his books were full for the next few weeks and even then the times meant taking time off work. So I was delighted to find the above dental place near work open seven days a week. I made an appointment for last Sunday and the level of service was incredible. What was also incredible was he gave me an estimate of cost prior to doing any work which was cheaper then the prices I was paying. I think I have settled on a dentist for the foreseeable future and Smiles dental is It. read more

Forced into going the dentist by a demon of a tooth, rang Smiles and got an appointment the next morning. All of the staff from the receptionist to the nurse and dentist where very friendly. Beware of the rip off. They will ask you to do an annual check up for 40euro - which sounds ok. Except that if you ever want an appointment with a different dentist - even at the same branch - they won't book unless you get another 40 euro "annual" check up - even if you got one last month!!!! I booked an appointment for my lunch break last week through my PRSI visit where I should have got an exam and clean for €15. The appointment was with Dr Viorel Matei. When he decided to stop flirting with the dental nurses 20 minutes after my appointment time (on my lunch break), he brought me into his booth. My bottom gum was sore and inflamed and from past experience, I had an idea that I had a gum infection and would need a clean and maybe antibiotics. Within 10 seconds of sitting in his chair, he said that i would need a deep gum clean and that it would €150 for this (even though i was there through my PRSI visit, which he would get a kickback from if he treated me. He also said i did NOT need an antibiotic (something the dentist I had to go to the next day was able to tell me I DID need within a few seconds of seeing my gum and having spoke with me). Not having much left time left on my lunch break and knowing that he was trying to rip me off, I got out of the chair as quick as possible so it would hopefully not count as my free dental visit from paying tax all year. Unfortunately this was not the case and Viorel felt that him telling me 10 seconds in that i would have to pay €150 and that i did not need an antibiotic, that this was sufficient to process my free "dental exam" and unfortunately I wasn't able to avail of this when I saw a professional dentist the following day, who did not need to do a "€150" procedure (him and the nurse working were appalled when I told them what he tried to charge me). The second dentist I saw immediately put me on a strong antibiotic for gum infection (so thankfully that won't now progress and also I'm not in pain, as i was leaving the first place). Thanks Dr. Matei, very "professional" service. My tip would be to stop thinking you're the star role in a movie about dentists, and just be a dentist :) And also don't rip people off, it's hard enough in Dublin without the likes of you. read more

Terrible service!!! First of all they informed me that the consultation fee is 40 euro, but upon arrival charged me 65 euro. But that's not the worst. After x-ray and all the necessary procedures, orthodontist (Ann) said that I am suitable for a 6 months smile treatment. So I have decided to go along with it. They gave me the price for it which I was ready to pay. They scheduled a treatment day for me . I even received a reminder message from them few times about my coming appointment. I even rang them to confirm it. And guess what? After all this so called "professional" service provided, I receive a phone call from them just 2 days before my treatment was due, saying that apparently now I don't suit for the treatment. Well I am so happy that I haven't gone along with that treatment as it shows what type of unreliable staff works in that clinic read more

Just a heads up - they will rather dubiously issue you multiple receipts for the same day (one for examination, one for cleaning), and then encourage you to make two claims with your insurance company. Your insurance company will, of course, reject this. In light of that their prices are not particularly competitive. read more

I'm disgusted with your Drogheda branch!! I rang them at 8am today to see if they had an emergency appointment for today. I explained I am 8months pregnant in an awful lot of pain with an abscess on my wisdom tooth since Saturday evening. I usually go to Balbriggan where they are great but live behind the drogheda practice so though I would try them 1st and save the journey. I was told they had an appointment for me today at 4 if I paid privately if not they couldn't see me on the 8th of October with my MedicalCard? What type of policy is this?? I asked could I not have the same appointment with my medical card and was told no prices start at €40 !! I then rang your Balbriggan branch and had a much nicer receptionist fit me in for today not a bother and I'm sure the experience will be very pleasant as they are always lovely in that branch and that phone call today has remained me why I dont use or recommend the Drogheda branch. read more

We were visiting this clinic with 5 years-old daughter. We were told by phone that this clinic perfectly works with kids (and by a wed-site too, which offers free examination). However, when we came, the dentist told us that he isn't qualified to work with children. His english was also poor. It was a decay but after first examination, doctor told us that he can't do anything, because it's an infection and she needs antibiotics. He also tried to send us to other clinic, without giving any contact information. Then he offered an X-ray scan for 35 euro extra, gave us a prescription for antibiotics but couldn't find any signs of infection in the scan. He covered a decay with a temporary cement, told us that he will be back with contacts of another clinic, gave us the bill for 75 euro and never came back again. To say that that we are disappointed means to say nothing. read more

The dentist I see is very good, the prices are average for the market in Dublin but my issue is with their reception staff which are a nightmare!! I've had a lot of work done at Smiles, around €12,000 in total and I dread having to call them. They've cancelled my appointment, delayed the fitting of my crown, don't answer the phone to me, don't EVER return my calls, can't answer simple questions, it's awful! Today I went into Smiles Dental. As I work full time finding a dentist who does Saturdays is difficult so I opted to visit the Dundrum clinic. And my experience was nothing short of atrocious. Complete and utter disaster and just overall nasty, cheeky digs from the dentist. It seems that if the patient is not so compliant and actually questions the almighty doctor they're met with nasty digs. It seems that doctors have become business men rather than providers of healthcare and what's best for the patient. If you wish to hear my full story keep reading but it might be long so sit tight. I am currently a holder of a medical card which is due to expire in a month and I will not be looking to renew it. So this story might also reflect the discrimination medical card holder face with some practitioners. I went into the clinic filled out my paper work and followed the dentist into his office. I explained what the issue was and if he could take a look at my tooth. He did a check and upon finishing told me that my molar (the 5th tooth to the left) was for extraction. I asked why that was and was given no reason. Then I preceded to explain that about 3 years ago I had the same problem with the same tooth but on the opposite site, however let me explain how bad this was. There was about a quarter of a tooth left, the root was dead... when my dentist at the time said this I was ready to cry and told her just to pull it out of my mouth after which she replied that she'd rather treat it cause implants and other options will actually be more hassle. So I underwent a series of treatments to clear out and fill my tooth canals and then my tooth was pretty much totally reconstructed with a porcelain filling (keep in mind this was at a specialist abroad. Dental tourism for the win) I explained this to him, after which he just repeated that the tooth has to be taken out. Again giving me no reason when I asked for one. He just ignored me completely. To try and comfort me he then preceded to tell me of "options" and implants... money in your pocket, is that it? I said that I would like a valid reason as to why the tooth needs to be extracted also I said that I will gladly pay for it to be fixed after which he said that "no amount of money can fix it". Sooo emm... that was your reason? I said that I would leave the office there and then and do not wish to continue with anything the clinic might offer I will find another dentist and will not be coming back. I went back to the lobby to sign a few papers before leaving and as I left the dentist who's name unfortunately I did not catch gave me a leaflet and kindly pointed to the €2,300 for a single implant on the price list and told me to keep it in mind for the future. Joined yelp to write this. Went for a routine clean. Lovely dentist. It ends there. Teeth didn't feel clean about 4 weeks later. Went to another dentist & he was shocked when I told him how long it had been since my last clean. The job she did was just not thorough enough. Also she tried to tell me I'd need an xray for my wisdom tooth that was 'impacting'. Again other dentist pulled it out, no X-ray in under 30 seconds because he knew what he was doing. Just awful. Smiles Dental was created like a cosmetic service, i.e. teeth whitening. Later, thanks to the high prices required by private dentistry, it managed to place itself in the market as a low cost dental service. The results include inexperienced dentists, limited presence of assistants or just their absence, a drive to squeeze as much money as possible from customers regardless of the service and, in general, approximated services for desperate people, looking for "handy open hours" or low prices. I have been a customer of Smiles Dental for one month. Instead of making me pay for the service I needed (root canal treatment) they were making me pay little by little, more or less randomly, visit after visit. After 3 visits I paid almost 500 euros, the treatment had not been completed, I still needed to be treated elsewhere for additional cost and I got no refunding at all for what they did, including an injection of anhestetic extremely close to a nerve (you can't imagine how painful it was). This was all caused by the lack of experience of their personnel. One thing is to fly low cost with Ryanair and get no meal on the flight, another is to play with your health ending up in such hands. Avoid at all costs. read more

I was totally ripped off by this practice. Had to pay for another consultation and xrays even though they had my records online. The dentist told me she had done two fillings and when I checked only one had been done. When I went back to get a print out of what fillings had been done the receptionist changed the record right in front of me. I ended up paying €240 for ONE FILLING. The quality is terrible and it feels like the tooth is filled with cement grit. These people are total sharks and blatant liars. I would not recommend if you want to get value for money and an honest service. read more

Short version: A Smiles' dentist saved my vacation. Long version: The day I was leaving the U.S. for Ireland, one of my crowns came out along with the post. My dentist cemented it back it, but the crown and post came out several hours later. A day after I arrived in Dublin, I called Smiles and was able to get an appointment for the next day. The dentist I saw was a woman who I thought was named Donna, but there is no Donna on their staff, so perhaps I got her first name wrong. Anyway, she and her dental nurse, operating in a very collaborative manner, cemented the tooth in, charging a very reasonable price for the examination and procedure (140 Euros.) I didn't think the tooth would last the day based on my previous experience with my dentist, but it stayed in during the next 12 days of my vacation, thus minimizing the chances of infection and preventing the gum from growing over the area of the tooth. I've been back in the U.S. for a few days and the tooth is still in. Great job! read more

I came back to continue with the rest of my fillings,advised to have on my first visit last year,I just had left 2 and came back after 8 months.Surprisely when I arrived I had to fill in AGAIN my details.I wondered why.then when I left I realized why...I WAS CHARGED AGAIN FOR THE CONSULTATION,just because the dentist who was treating me before didn't work there anymore,so I got a new consultation with my new dentist! That is a robbery! I was there only to continue what I was advised at the first place by this company! Then I asked the receptionist for the description of my receipt as I was going to claim it to my insurance company, she said that the insurance companies just accept those receipts like that, but after asking her again for the detailed receipt she was kinda rude and gave me the receipt with a very annoyed face, just for printing the detailed receipt. Anyways, just to finish my wonderful experience, when I was leaving, I was sending a text and putting my jacket on, there was a guy at the door, who was opening the door for me, I thought he was another customer, I thank him and explained I needed to send a text, he just got upset because I didn't want to come out when he wanted.. He got back where I was, I apologize o him once again, and this time he even didn't answer to me, he was just ignoring me and using his phone. I repeated him the same and he continue being upset, so I didn't bother anymore (cause I thought he was another customer) but by surprise, when I was about to open the door, he opened it for me again and went outside to open the metal door, hen I realized he worked there, I asked him if he worked there and he he said yes, I confront his attitude towards the customers, instead he just thank me in a very sarcastic way and close the door on my nose. Dont bring your kids in there!!!!!I had my braces done in Poland a few years ago,great job, i was very happy how things were going,they were very professional,but the down side was me flying over there all the time for the appointments,so was very close to the end of my treatment, and decided to have my braces removed, i decided to have it done in Dublin, as i heard of smiles being a good place to go,4 South Anne St, Dublin 2,so that was going to save me some time and money. I went in, I was told that dr Kostas Efthymiou Orthodontist will look after me,and a nurse, and they started removing my braces, he was very rough,was very fast happening-too fast-and heard and felt the two of my front teeth cracking,one after the other-and there was a moment,where Kostas Efthymiou looked at the nurse,as in 'oh no' and when i tried to speak they told me to dont move,just keep my mouth open,the nurse mixed some product ,had no idea what was happening,this was traumatising,all new to me,so they patched up the cracks with the mixture prepared by the nurse and when they presented the mirror,it all look good,so I was rushed out with some'advice' that its normal for the teeth to feel sore!so,at the end of the appointment i had 4 cracked teeth,the 2 front teeth-the upper ones-was not very visible you really had to look very close to see it,but i herd the cracks,and felt the pain,so was worried- and 2 front bottom teeth,the whole thing was finished in less the 15 min, and costed me 300 euro.I felt i was in a disadvantage,as i was alone,and traumatised,and could not deal with them at that moment,besides, i was being rushed out as the doctor had a next appointment.I went in O'connel st for some advice regarding this incident,they were not helpful,and they just didnt care. i went to a different orthodontist to ask his opinion, and he said craze lines do happen,but not cracked teeth! but would be argumentative that i had the cracked teeth before going in, can i prove that i didnt? i could've if i had the time, to go back to poland to get my file,but i didnt, was like a nightmare that i wanted to put it behind me...as the time went by,the mixture they used on my font teeth began to fade, and the cracks are very obvious,had a consultation recently as the pain would not go away and denial wont help and i was told that the only way to save the two front teeth-as they are the main problem, is by getting veneers, as they are badly cracked...The moral of my experience,is to choose who you-or your kids are going to for the orthodontic treatment,especially for the removal of the braces, and you should have someone with you to watch what is going on,take pictures of your teeth before having braces removed,have a consultation with a different orthodontist if you have to, to document the state of your teeth before removing braces. If they do crack your teeth,sue them, as they deserve to pay for that,im very sorry i never did that,now its too late for me to do it,i got some legal advice on that,its nothing I can do, Kostas Efthymiou got away with it. Doctors like dr Kostas Efthymiou,should not practice,he's a butcher not a doctor,learn from my experience,he was only interested to remove those braces as quick as possible and get payed,as he had a next appointment,so he was in a rush. Im the one left with problems after his negligence,he pulled and used the braces removal tool so heavily,that it cracked 4 teeth,and now i will have to spend thousands of euro to fix what he did,shame on you dr Kostas Efthymiou,you should go and get a job a butcher,not to treat human beings, and you are very manipulative to cover the cracks,so when presenting the mirror to the client,it all 'looks good',shame on you!!!!This practice does not even deserve a star,but its no option for 0 stars unfortunately. read more

horrible experience. went with a broken tooth which was limiting my eating. got handed a treatment plan, with the tooth in question 4 appointments away. the plan was worth 2500 (which i could use to fly to mainland europe and buy a whole new rack of teeth or full set of veneers btw) because the dentist wanted to replace my 4 existing veneers, only problem is that i have NO VENEERS! unless they only cost 80 euro a pop during the boom, i don't have em, the front xray failed and instead of re doing it, she chose to mis-diagnose me instead. now i've to wait for a real dentist appointment. read more
