when I moved to Corpus Christi back in 2011 I had to of course find a new dentist. I just closed my eyes and pointed at the many dentists in town offered by my insurance and God willing, Dr. Fossum became my dentist. I didn't realize then what I blessing I had found - but in time i have realized that the lucky draw of selecting Dr. Fossum was in fact no luck at all! I have never really had great experiences with my teeth growing up having to have extra teeth pulled before braces, etc - it was a nightmare - LITERALLY! So - being able to say that I have the best dentist in town is an amazing feat in itself for me to say! My first visit - I had a cavity. I nearly died! I hate shots! I'm the worse patient for dentists and I didn't want to be THAT patient for him. Dr. Fossum put me at ease when he told me that they have lots of patients that are children just for that exact reason of being scared of any pain. I never felt the shot and in and out - cavity done. This year I needed a crown of 12 years replaced. when I explained the last experience I had with getting this first crown done - Dr. Fossum promised me it would not be like that at all. I never felt a thing and we did a root canal at the same time - now who just signs up for those? my new crown not only fits better, feels better, looks better - it actually feels like my original tooth. my first crown was awkward and tool forever to get used to in my mouth - NOT THIS ONE! PERFECT FIT! NO PAIN! I would recommend Dr. Fossum and his staff to anyone that needs minor or major dental work done. He is simply the best and I can say that he has helped make a new history for me and my horrible dentist stories. No more looking back! Dr. Fossum is the best dentist! I hadn't been to the dentist in many years (more than 15), mostly because previous dentists gave me pain and sometimes questionable treatments. I went to Dr. Fossum seeking help with a couple of teeth that had gotten noticeably darker and because I had been told that I had periodontal gum disease. Dr. Fossum treated the two teeth that were in bad condition, doing root canals and fitting me for crowns. The process was painless (much to my relief; I'm not a wimp, but I'm also not a sadist). His staff also did a deep cleaning of my teeth and gums, and I am well along the road to healthy teeth and gums, thanks to the actions of Dr. Fossum and his staff. His prices are reasonable, he talks to me in easily understood terms and shows photos of teeth and gums to explain his treatments. Dr. Fossum was recommended by my coworker & trusted friend who referred to him as "the best dentist I've ever had!" Even though I am about to move away, they squeezed me in for an overdue check up and cleaning. Doc and his team were very thorough and took their time with me. Dr. Fossum is very trustworthy as he recommended some necessary work but was honest in advising not to start the work right away, due to the fact that I am leaving the area shortly and that it'd be best to have a dentist close by in case of any complications or adjustments needing to be made.. the hygienists were knowledgeable, gentle, and thorough. I'll have an updated exam including X-rays easily available and ready to go for my new dentist in my next location. Dr. Fossum and his Staff are amazing. I'm terrified of needles and dental work and the pain that goes along with it. I did not experience any pain whatsoever, this included the shot. Dr. Fossum makes it his mission for a pain free experience and he sure follows through with it. I was so relaxed and free of any pain that I caught myself dozing off. Dr. Fossum is also an amazing cosmetic dentist. The atmosphere is relaxing and very family friendly. He is the only dentist I trust with my kids, and they still travel back from college just to be seen by him. Dr. Fossum and his staff have been taking care of my dental needs for the past 10 years. The staff has always been friendly and the ladies who clean my teeth have always done an exceptional job. Often they advise me to floss more often and brush better around my back molars, which I like because I want to take my teeth to the grave. Aside from the staff, Dr. Fossum is a very cool dentist and I wouldn't want to see anyone else about my teeth. He also sponsored my livestock show project when I was participating in the NCJLS during grade school. Way cool!! Now that I've expressed my positive feelings about the dentistry, there is one drawback which is the wait time. All of my appointments have taken at least 45 min and sometimes 1 hr. 15 min. I saw Dr. Fossum for a second opinion for a problem tooth yesterday for the first time. What I ended up finding is my next dentist. He was kind, compassionate and took his time to explain everything that was going on with my teeth and gums and made recommendations accordingly. I didn't get great news regarding the problem tooth but what I did get was an honest answer and I felt almost relieved that I was making the right choice pulling it after all. I had a lot of tooth pain, and after getting a two week wait for an appointment at one dentist, I called Dr. Fossum's office and they got me right in. X-rays indicated a cracked tooth requiring a root canal. Dr. Fossum called to arrange my getting right in to an Endodontist for the root canal. Same day!
