We had some paint that needed to be 'shaken' or stirred prior to use. Since we had about 2 gallons of paint in 5 gallon pail. The staff at Smith Paint explained why this was not possible and told me what would have happened. Yikes! They were so nice and helpful answering all my questions. I had my house painted and the painter got the paint from Smith Paint. There was a LOT leftover, so I managed to get the bucket into my car and went over to Smiths, asked if they sold gallon cans so I could put it in several gallon cans. Got out to the car and asked the guy if he would pour the paint into the pails for me as I'm old and couldn't lift the 5 gallon bucket to do so. He asked who painted my house, I told him and he said take it home and let him do it . . .REALLY. Smith's used to be a decent place to go when they were over on Cherry, since they moved into the Spring location they are just SO ABOVE IT ALL & JUST PLAIN RUDE, can't be bothered. No point in going back there for ANYTHING. read more

Me and my fiancé came into this store with loads of questions (we know nothing), and it was a group effort but Tony specifically took a lot of time and walked us through everything we were going to need for our project and explained the different options we had in each product. He was super patient and dealt with my fiancé's neurotic line of questioning like a pro. Oh and Jerry in the sprayer department was also super knowledgeable and answered all the questions that people at the big box stores all kind of just shrugged off. George is the manager and is solid gold. There are people who have a solution for every problem and George is exactly that! I had an issue with elastomeric tinting from another vendor and George resolved it quickly and effectively. Place is a blast from the past old school paint shop Every guy over 50 will love this place because because it's as old as The Rolling Stones. Pro's- I like that there's always parking and the products sold here are top notch. Cons- I had two guys ignore me today after asking them for a product that wasn't on the shelf. Looks like the employees although young guys hate their job in an old warehouse environment full of dust. I really can't blame the workers. If you don't like your job and are miserable, maybe you should go work elsewhere is my thoughts. read more

Was just one the phone asking about sprayer parts. Dick on the phone asked if I bought the unit at home depot then told me that he won't have the part in stock would have to be ordered. The part is used on all their sprayers according to there web site. Before I could even get a word out he hung up on me. I wouldn't spend any money here. Poor old dude doesn't realize the only way you beat online shopping is with relationships and you just made sure to lose another. read more

I am working on a repurpose project and had a can of paint from Lowes but really wanted to try the Benjamin Moore paint that was recommended by a blogger. So I headed in to Smith Paint. This place is huge! If you have a painting project I highly recommend Smith. The staff was nice. I was helped by a woman whose name escaped me but she was friendly and knowledgable. I doubt I will ever go to Lowe's or Home Depot again for paint. This place is great! read more

I got some samples of BM and the younger guy was very helpful on suggesting popular whites and walked me over to products I asked for vs pointing. I was able to grab samples off the wall which currently DE does not let you do. Will come back to buy my gallons. BM is $$$$ no matter where you go, so I'm happy they are helpful given it's more than your average paint brand read more

The best! I needed to paint a few rooms. My friend recommended Benjamin Moore. Paints. The low end paints here are like the high end at Lowes. So it is a deal. Really makes a difference, and much less need for primer, so even though it might be more expensive, it really isn't once you factor in the longevity, quality, and less need for primer. Staff is super helpful & knowledgeable. I thought all paint was the same. Will never go back to Lowes or HDepot for paint again. read more

Terrible service. Not knowledgeable about products (in my case, wanting to learn/know about Modern Masters metallic paints - they were clueless and showed no interest in even trying to help me out). This is the place to get the best paint in town at the best prices. I run a business that uses a lot of paint, plus I buy paint here for personal remodeling projects. They are knowledgeable and have everything you need. That, said, the counter guys need a complete customer service makeover. Every answer is given grudgingly, there are no prices on the retail items (other than the $2 hat bin), and there's no thank you at the end of the transaction, no matter how nice you are to the man who "helped" you. If you are a woman, I suggest you send in a token man to buy what you need, as he will be treated much better from what I have observed. This is like a prehistoric man cave. Oh, just to top it off, they have day-glo signs with arrows pointing to the Men's Room. Walked around while my paint was being mixed and didn't see any signs for a Women's Room. Perhaps it's that they have so much big contractor business that they don't need our $100 or $200 purchases. Come on guys, you have a great business; bring it into the 21st century. read more
