Prices are very high, but selection is great. For eg. Antique crystal door knob $100 for set w/ o lock or plates. I found much better price elsewhere. Well organized. No bathroom fixtures ie sinks and toilets. Salesperson is difficult to deal with- not friendly and rather snobby. Not willing to give even small discount for buying large quantity of items. I come here when I need a small item but typically go to Los Angeles or Pasadena for larger purchases. read more

Tom and his wife, owners of B and B Hardware, are the best! Our front door was not closing properly. I called in the morning, explained the problem to Tom's wife, and she said he would call us. Tom called shortly after, got to our house the same day, quickly diagnosed the problem, and had the door closing and locking properly within 30 minutes. 100 % the best. Old door knob from the early 30s. Thought I would have to replace the door and frame. Cost for this is about $3000. All parts for the door were obsolete. B&B not only had the part, but installed it for a reasonable price. read more

I rarely write reviews even though I would like to most the time but Tom and his business definitely deserve a shoutout. Tonight 3/31 I called his shop at 5:32pm, keep in mind he closes at 5pm. A woman answers and asks how she can help me. I describe what's happening with my front door. Tom takes over the phone and I repeat what's happening. He says, "ill come take a look at it once I pull this Tri-Tip off the grill!" I said to him oh no, it can wait until you have time but Tom insisted and said while the meat is cooling down, he'll stop by. Well, he did. I have an original 1929 front door with the old mortise lock system and as he worked on it I mentioned issues with my other interior doors. He looked at all of them. Didn't ask me for a dime once finished. I'm very impressed and could not and would not suggest any other simile business. He told me just stop by the shop and drop off $20. Are you serious!!!!???? Tom, I can see why you have 5 stars. Bless you, your kindness and your business ethics. I wish everyone in every industry had your character and morals. read more

I recently moved into a vintage home with original glass door knobs on the interior doors. I was having trouble with two knobs and had no idea what to do with them (you can't just call a locksmith for hardware that's a hundred years old). I called Tom at B&B Hardware hoping he might have matching replacements. Not only did he have replacement knobs but he actually came to my house to deliver them and show me how to install them. My car was vandalized Tuesday at Blue Line Willow Station--most contents stolen...leather seats sliced up somehow...a hidden set of keys stolen...i could not find a locksmith so I called B&B (because I trust owners from shopping there)...Tom the owner got on phone and suggested a company in LB then i guess he heard my fear/frustration and said "i'll be at your house in 15 mins"...his truck pulled up and he worked entire day..only stopping to go to HD, Ace, etc. for parts/tools. Tom never stopped working and is expert at everything....people don't do this anymore....What an incredible human being. I will never forget him helping me...making my home safe ...I finally slept last night. As a side note, the store is incredible...amazing things you just don't see at HD, Lowes, etc.....works of art. Such a great assortment of hardware to browse through. Tables after table of knobs, kitchen, bathroom fixtures, etc. there is also an entire room just for lighting fixtures. I absolutely love this place! They pretty much always have what I need. We just recently installed an interior screen door and needed hinges. I'm not sure why I thought a big hardware store would have something I could "live with" , because the didn't .... after driving around I finally gave in to the fact that I would not be happy if I didn't go to B&B and check it out. I found EXACTLY the hinges I was looking for, and I was able to get screws that they "aged" for me. I really have to remind myself that for my house this place is perfect! read more

A Belmont Heights neighborhood gem on Broadway. An incredible collection of period hardware perfect for restoring and maintaining your home. Tom helped us select a custom mahogany screen door for our 1922 Mediterranean Revival. Tom wasn't happy with the stain and worked with the manufacturer to have it made again. When Donald Trump wins the election, everything will be HUUUGE. So, I suspect this gallery of hardware history will be HUUUGE, too! All the little once-shiny baubles, bells and bangles are here. Cut crystals mix with heavy iron things of unknown origins. Doors, knobs, insets, whatever you might need to finish your Long Beach bungalow-from-the-past or Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired Craftsman home. And then you look up and take a deep breath. WTH! I've visited many places, places where I've seen big lights...Paris, NYC, the skies over Area 51, but nothing like the mega-globes they've somehow managed to attach to the ceiling here! These humungous lamps were built for some incredibly big structure, an epic structure, a structure that just might support a head as big as Trump's. So in this huge election year, remember that some of the many things you want require a bourgeoisie (Trump-like) budget and you may have to consider lowering your expectations to the proletariat (Bernie Sanders) budget and save for those pricey items. Nothing is free and the gap between these two candidates couldn't be wider. What a fucking joke our political "system" has become, like a P.T. Barnum 3-ring circus with nukes instead of dancing bears. Fortunately, I only needed a sconce and not a huge one at that. It wasn't to be found here so I'll continue to seek that 3rd party candidate that'll satisfy the majority of my needs. I require neither the gilt of a Trump nor the (societal) guilt of a Sanders to define my fate. I'll just keep on looking...gotta be out there, somewhere. But if Hillary takes the reins, it'll be 4 more years of what I just came through, a whole lotta nothin' good and this review has gone to hell in a hand-basket and I'll never find my damn sconces. read more

I was walking this morning and happened by this wonderful business, B&B Hardware :) I am a picker so I don't like to pay retail, Toms prices are so reasonable I will be back to purchase some treasures. Vintage Bauer coffee pot w/wooden lid $30-why yes please :) I could spend hours wandering around this wonderful gem of a store. The hardware selection is H U G E, door knobs of every variety, era and style-priced reasonably well. I have a thing for crystal door knobs and Toms prices are very good and the selection is even better Outside, there are doors-beautifully made with solid wood with amazing little details that todays "products" just don't have, you cant find these treasures at Home Depot. B&B also offers installation service if needed. But wait, there's more-look up, the lighting....be still my vintage loving heart. Some of the lights in this place are truly amazing-giant hanging lanterns-wherever did these lovelies come from....I asked Tom, the owner and they came out of an old hotel-they are pieces of art I tell you. Are you into "Saving the pink bathroom movement" If yes, its your lucky day. Not only does B&B sell vintage hardware, knobs, lighting, but they also sell vintage kitchen and bathroom fixtures, including that coveted pink pedestal sink you need to replace as well as the matching toilet and fixtures! It takes a lot to impress me and this indy business did just that. I needed a specific doorknob, and had looked at Ace, Lowes, and Home Despot, as well as the web. This place didn't have it either, but in 2 minutes had located it, ordered it, and had it on hand for pickup by lunch the next day. The owner took a bit to come around to my view on another project, and I was not feeling the love, but something clicked and the next thing I knew he had the piece I needed in salvage. This place is a treasure chest of vintage items that Long Beach needs! I found beautiful glass pulls and brass drawer pulls for my bathroom and kitchen.
