Upon getting back to my house he got a call from his farm tellin him his water pump was not working!... lightning. He pulled out a question it had my name on it. He said to me". I'm sorry mr. X BUT I CANT Answer it as I have a practice of to answering question tat might affect people's lives. He gave an example... not mine of course.. like when will I die. Mine was very personal. When it was our turn to taste, we loved all four offerings: Quotidian White (blend), Quotidian Red (Meritage), 2006 Meleau White (Port) and 2006 Meleau Red (Port). Moments after arriving he introduced himself by telling us how tremendously educated he is regarding wine. He told us he was an author and an expert on the region and much much more. And no doubt he is and provided a lot of facts and interesting anecdotes. But welcoming he wasn't, quite the opposite. He introduced the tasting experience by telling us that we would be able to taste five wines. I chose most of the ones he recommended but not all of them and commented that I was sure he'd let me taste the 6th if I wanted as every other place certainly does that. Not john, John was insulted that I didn't leverage his brilliance. Not only did I not get a sixth to taste, but the pours I got were half of everybody else's. A wine host should be friendly and accommodating and do everything they can to help you enjoy the experience, and recommend it to others, and come back, and purchase wine. Because of John's pompous attitude he failed on every one of those. We will not be back.

It has new house smell and was pristine. The rooms are larger than I thought with good sized closets. I needed a desk for the week and the owners were very kind to bring one to the room for me. By the way - most folks are out for the day so the WiFi was better than my company jet pack! Definitely a plus. Breakfast this week landed around 9a and I had meetings during that time. They were so gracious to have a plate ready or welcome me to the porch table for privacy. Pros: - Their wine is delicious and their origin story is very interesting. Schedule a tasting ($10)! - Breakfast was delicious every day and includes ingredients from their garden - Local coffee served. And, it's good! - Beautiful, clean home - Knowledgeable owners - Close to several wineries - Short drive to town (restaurants) - beautiful area, super relaxing Cons: - Most wineries close at 5pm - TV in my room was *very* small. Also: incredible views of the vineyard through their open back area. All the wines are dangerously drinkable. Super fruit-forward, super sweet, and tasted almost exactly like juice - until you remember they're rocking a sneaky 14%. Proceed with caution (or not). Definitely one of the more memorable and quirky stops we made. Come for the wine, stay for the stories and energy.
