Smithfield station provides free parking in a gravel lot across the street from their main parking lot. This park has several nice wooden bridges over the water and is a peaceful quiet walk around for about 1.8 miles through the wooded/water park of Smithfield. It runs parallel to Main Street at some points and intersects with a few neighborhoods via wooden bridges. It's really cute and has a nice shaded wooded part of the path as well as some sunny uncovered spots and tons and tons of marsh and water that looks like a Nicholas Sparks movie - it has a little something for everyone!

My fiance and I attended a wedding here a few weeks ago. The distance from Chesapeake was under and hour, but it felt like forever. The ride home... in the dark... scary. Nevertheless, please exercise extreme caution. The venue ... a barn literally... it was cute. Did it smell... no... not sure if it's a working barn, but everything was fine. Tables were set up inside... the ceremony took place inside as well. The reception followed the ceremony... all under one roof. I understand the pricing is affordable as well. They offer overnight stays as well for a decent price. The wedding party stayed for the weekend and they enjoyed everything. Even the ride there set the tone it was scenic & peaceful, and full of wide-open fields that felt like a refreshing change. It was the kind of drive that makes you slow down and just enjoy the moment. Once we arrived, the winery itself was stunning bold, beautiful. The wine selection was impressive, and I loved getting to explore different flavors. I figured out which wines I enjoy most, which ones aren't for me, and felt like I had a truly immersive first-time tasting experience. The staff at Summer Wind were amazing knowledgeable, friendly, and patient in answering my questions. Although I didn't get to order food this time, I saw plates coming out of the kitchen that looked absolutely delicious, so that's definitely on my list for next visit. I enjoyed myself so much that I'd love to make this a yearly tradition around this time of year. Summer Wind Winery gave me not just great wine, but a great memory, and I'll absolutely be back.

Our only issue was the humidity in the room left the bed linens feeling a tad damp when we returned to the room at the end of the day. There is a coffee bar where you check in and a continental breakfast is included in the morning that had juices, coffee l, cereal l, pastries, eggs, bacon and pancakes. Would stay here again!
