One of my dogs Bodie is a little more anxious and can be harder to treat. Monique and Dr. Kelly are so patient and calm. They really know how to work with all types of quirks and personalities. They make a vet visit more fun and relaxing for both fur babies and parents. I saw in a previous review someone mentioned high cost. While this is true you can't compare her services to big chain vets that are seeing patients every 15-30 minutes. She has travel time, set up and breakdown time and her appointments are not rushed. Dr. Kelly and I met under unfortunate circumstances. My 14 year young Charlie Cat told me in so many cat ways that he wasn't feeling well. My grandfather in NC was ill, of course the man who raised me took priority. I was away a month. I came back with a heavy heart on both coasts. By chance, a friend was over and called her friend, Kelly. I thought Charlie's time with me had had its happy long run. I had recent blood work to share with Dr. Kelly. She came to my home. Her assessment and intuitive pet sense a true animal whisperer said it wasn't time just yet. His kidneys were shutting down. She'd gave him fluids and acupuncture on the tip of his nose to stimulate his appetite. We had several sessions over the next 2 months. She came over to check on him. The look in her eyes told me what I already knew. It was time. I played music, Breathe by Eddy Vedder. We sat on the floor with me and together we saw the lights go out in Charlie's eyes. Dr. Kelly took care of the funeral process; cremation and returning his ashes in a sweet wooden box. Afterward, I received the kindest most thoughtful truly genuine card in the from Kelly. She's a ray of sunshine on some of our darkest pet days. I have a new kitty, Billie Belly Button. We appreciate Dr. Kelly's home visits. Kelly is an angel. Finding the right holistic vet and acupuncturist for our cat has been a challenge. Finding Kelly has given us rest. She's been coming regularly for months to help us with our beloved 16+ year old kitty. She always comes in with such gentleness, kindness, patience, and slowness. We were fortunate that Dr. Kelly and Monique were able to fit us into their schedule when we reached out for multi-modal therapy after a double fibula fracture showed up in our 15 year old cat's xray. They got right to work with soothing pulsed laser therapy, acupuncture, and bodywork/rehabilitation. In the next two appointments we iterated on splints, and I can see the effect of the support in her gait. She was terrific during COVID with our old dog Beaux Beau, who needed care, and provided service with grace and kindness on his last day as he succumbed to oral cancer and required euthanasia. Update on kitty: I'm with Antonia T. If I could give Dr. Kelly 100+ stars I would. When my beloved kitty Cupcake deteriorated to a point where she was so weak she couldn't lift up her head to drink water, I knew it was time to call Dr. Kelly. She came as soon as she could to my place to help Cupcake cross Rainbow Bridge. It was one of the hardest and most painful decisions I've ever had to make. I was already a mess when she came over but she was so compassionate and kind when it came to explaining the process and what would happen. I was giving Cupcake chin scratches until the end and sobbing...not once did Dr Kelly rush us when we had to say goodbye to her. Dr. Kelly was so tender and gentle with her when it was time to take Cupcake with her and drop her off to a place where I could get her ashes sent to me. I could not recommend Dr. Kelly more - I am so glad to have found her to care for Cupcake in her last moments. This review is long overdue. I was looking for a more holistic vet to care for my dog. I found Dr. Kelly Smith through Yelp. My dog has always had digestive issues, but things were getting worse. She had been eating raw since she was a year old, but all of a sudden she was having trouble digesting it. Dr. Kelly came to my home and helped me find the right food for her. She did well for quite some time. When she took a turn for the worse, Dr. Kelly helped me by prescribing the right combination of western medicine, Chinese herbs and acupuncture. After a time, these things were no longer working and she got sicker. Dr. Kelly came and guided me through letting my sweet little girl go. She even arranged for the aftercare. I wish I could give this compassionate, knowledgeable, amazing vet more than 5 stars. Dr. Kelly took care of my girl and me so well. I couldn't ask for better care. read more

Last July in the middle of Covid I got a new puppy and did my research to find a holistic vet as I was concerned about all the shots puppies get and wanted someone who took a more holistic approach to animal care. So far, Dr. Smith has been fantastic. After two major vets in SF almost killed my cat, I knew we needed to find someone we could trust. Unfortunately, due to the mistakes that were made and his rather dire looking medical history, most home vets would not see us and one very unprofessionally canceled the appointment the day before after reviewing his medical history. I will never forget that the first question Dr. Smith asked me when I explained Harvey's situation was "is the heart disease primary or secondary to hyperthyroidism?" By that time, we had been "treated" by probably a dozen different veterinarians at the two major clinics, and not one single one of them had ever asked this question. They misdiagnosed and mistreated Harvey. He was hospitalized twice and almost died. At the end of the day, I had to figure out the solution to Harvey's problems (thyroid medication, at much higher doses) from my own research online and trial and error, which ultimately saved Harvey's life. From there, Dr. Smith patiently listened to the entire course of events and then ... well, she trusted me. I know my cat. I know what will help him and what will not help him. Whereas the other vets disregarded what I told them (for example insisting on more and more office visits so they could make a profit even when it was not in Harvey's best interests), Dr. Smith was very careful not to traumatize Harvey any more than was absolutely necessary. After our home visit, Dr. Smith has continued to be responsive and caring. Above all else, she has listened to me and seems to care sincerely about Harvey's well-being. I am so grateful Harvey is still here and only wish we had found Dr. Smith from the beginning. My guess is that all of the trauma and $5000 in mostly unnecessary veterinary bills could have been avoided entirely. Please forgive me, Harvey, I did not know how hard it was to find a vet I could trust in San Francisco :( read more

My sweet little cat Basha was terminally ill and had been slowly fading, and I was planning for in-home euthanasia. Dr. Kelly is amazing! Not only is she very knowledgeable, in both eastern and western medicine, but she is also compassionate toward both the animals and their owners. One of my dogs receives acupuncture from Dr. Kelly for a variety of issues related to past knee surgery. Both of my dogs get so excited to see Dr. Kelly and she is great with them. She helped me decide the best schedule for vaccinations and spent several hours going over nutrition and general care. Dr. Kelly finally convinced me to get my dog's teeth cleaned after many years of deliberating. I was concerned about having to put her under with anesthesia and was floored by the estimates I had received from other vets. Mini dachshunds have a propensity for developing a lot of tartar if their teeth are not brushed regularly. After nine years, her breath smelled basically like a port-o-potty. Kelly came and picked her up in the morning, and Bunny was glad to go, as Kelly has a very natural calming effect on animals that gains their trust instantly. She called me after the tests and x-rays to communicate the number of planned teeth extractions (unfortunately more than we had hoped for). She sought another opinion from a fellow vet about the one top canine tooth, and later was confirmed after it was extracted, that it was severely decayed and would have only caused more serious issues if left in tact. She delivered her home and provided pain meds and instructions. She also checked in a few days later when she provided the final bill, which was completely accurate based on her original estimate. If your dog is overdue for a teeth cleaning and you want someone very trustworthy who will not overcharge you for services, please call Dr. Kelly. She is an amazing, compassionate vet who also makes house calls. read more

My very ill cat was seen by two prominent vets. Cursory exams and tests cost over $1600. Adding on a 35 dollar prescription cost me another $180. In addition, their bedside manner was professional but not terribly helpful. Kelly (she prefers this) came to my home and sat with me and my cats for over an hour. She was kind and compassionate to both me and my ill cat, as well as his brother, who was not even being treated. She offered both "standard" and alternative medicines and supplements and advice about diet and home care. She also gave me some hope, the other vets basically said your cat has inoperable cancer, which will spread to his brain and kill him in six months. Instead of cold facts, I learned how to ease my pet's burden and prepare for his passing. read more
