Called him on the phone told him im coming in (car and type), pulled in the driveway, he had his ear buds on, I was waving to him, he looked at me, he didn't get up, stared at me, never got up, never took his ear buds out. I got out of the car, still had his earphones in. Finally took one earbud out and looked at me with a blank stare, said nothing, like Why am I here? I felt like an idiot. It says smog oasis. The service was good. I was a little surprised that out the door I paid $88 before tip. I bought a new to me car and needed to smog for the title change. I didn't have all the paperwork, so maybe there was an extra charge for that? I was asked to sign to authorize service, but I didn't ask to see the paperwork to see the price I was agreeing to. So that was my own fault. I had to get two cars smogged that day. I took my second car to a nearby place. It was definitely grungier, but saved me $30. read more

I've had two of my car smogged. First time I had an appointment in the second time I just drove right in. Really really cool place and the guy behind the counter was very considerate and kind I highly recommend this place, probably be best if you made an appointment, although both times I was in and out of there in 15 minutes. If you're in vintage Tiki oasis. You're gonna be super stoked it's like a little museum with extremely cool art If I ever need a car smog again, I will be back. I have been going to smog oasis for over 10 years to do my regular smog checks and have always had good service. Today was the exception. I made a reservation to make sure they were available, and when I showed up three minutes late because of traffic, they had given my spot away to a car that just pulled up. "Well, you were late..." . Strictly speaking I was definitely late, but the attitude was rude and dismissive. Waste of an afternoon. You've lost a regular customer. read more

Went to Smog Oasis today as I needed a star station to fulfill my DMV requirements. My husband had gone there a couple months ago, so they had sent him a $20 off coupon. It is close to our home, so seemed logical to go. I called a couple days ago to ask if I needed an appointment. I was asked the year of the car, and was told that I didn't need an appointment. I showed up on Saturday morning before 10 and the owner asked if I had an appointment. He said that he had appointments for the next couple hours. I was a bit annoyed because, had I known, I would have made an appointment. It all turned out OK though, as he made me an appointment for Sunday morning, which worked out just fine. The place is a kitschy tiki hut...old school Hawaii...some old school fun. The add advertises "Kona coffee". During COVID, you probably don't want to serve coffee, which is why there wasn't any so no worries...however it looks like an old coffee pot sitting in a corner, not exactly special Kona coffee that I'd care to drink. That said...who really needs coffee and decorations to get your car smoged. I used the $20 coupon, and I thought it still cost $59. It seems more like that is the regular price, but what do I know about smog prices. All I really care about in the end is that it was fast, efficient, oh...and that I did pass. Oasis is my new favorite Smog shop. They've been around 7 years and are right down the street from my house, so not sure how I missed them before, other than that I usually just get my car smog checked downtown, where I work. Love the cute, tiki style waiting room, w/ upbeat surf/Hawaiian music playing and "Tiki" bar in the back w/ complimentary Kona coffee and even flavored syrups. (Or, if you want something stronger, Desi's neighborhood bar is right next door). Service by Edward was super friendly. But best part is that I made an appointment same day for 5:30 pm, and they got me out the door in 20 minutes with paperwork in hand. I made an appointment online for Saturday morning. When I arrived their was no one there. I waited for over 20 minutes for someone to arrive. No one showed up. Drove to the other location so I could wait again. When they were ready they told me the price. $70. Seems high compared to other places, no? I did use the service. But only because I was over 1.5 hours invested on a Saturday morning, but I should have just left and found a cheaper alternative. A smog check is a smog check.
