Called the same day and was able to make an appointment for 5pm. It's street parking around the business. It's right across a UPS if you're needing to finally mail back some of the returns! There an outdoor patio for you to wait, it took about 20-30 minutes. read more

I am definitely coming back to this location. I was frustrated because two other locations didn't take me even though I showed up at opening time. At this location I showed up exactly 9am. Only one other person was in front of me. I was told that I'll be next up. He was quick with the other customer. He moved my car for me. He worked quickly. I was in and out of there in timely manner. He was so nice and polite. My friend actually went there a few months ago and also had a great experience with him. read more

I've had my 2017 Toyota Corolla for 8 years now and this was the first time I had to get a smog check to renew my car's registration. I called a few places for pricing and availability, and this shop was at least $10 cheaper than other places. The owner let me make a same-day appointment over the phone. The test itself took 15 minutes and I paid $55. There was a little courtyard where you could wait while he works on your car. The owner was incredibly kind and helpful. He let me know that once your new car hits the 8yr mark, you are required to get a smog check every 2 years. It was a great experience overall and I'm glad I found this shop. read more

$67 for a smog test is robbery !!!!! AVOID NORTH PARK TEST ONLY on Bancroft st!!! It doesn't cost him more to run the same smog test that other people do for $20. He's taking advantage of people and making the excuse saying "yeah everything's expensive now" with a very polite smile on his face. But that's an excuse to jump on a bandwagon when it's not costing him any more money to do a smog test that he performed the same smog test 20 years ago. I've been getting my smog checks here for at least seven years with four different cars. Same nice guy all these years, same quality service. I call ahead time and schedule an appointment, but I think he takes drop ins. If you're waiting it's all curbside parking, but it's usually fine since everyone gets in and out pretty fast. He sends the info off to the DMV same day and usually by the next morning it's reflected on the DMV's website. It's around $60 cash, but charges about 3% more if you use card, so bring cash if you want to save some change. read more

My husband and I have been here a few times and it is always a great experience! You can call ahead of time and make an appointment or walk in. May have to wait a few minutes but the little courtyard is super relaxing. Wayne has helped us each time and it has been such a great experience. Not only is he very professional with our cars and handles them with care, but he is a very sweet man. All of these qualities are great when dealing with cars. We will come back in the future if we need our car smogged again. Great neighborhood spot! Price was very affordable compared to the places I looked into around the area, so we appreciate that! In and out after 35 mins for a walk in appointment. The gentleman was kind enough- not very talkative but that's what most people with the dreaded errand of getting a smog every other year in CA would expect. Outside seating area was cold when I went before the evening in November. Fun fact - while I was waiting I googled what "Smog-test Only" meant which is in their business name, and it basically means the business can't also try and do repairs on your car if something wrong is found, aka you don't need to hear the up sell of an auto salesman. read more

I have used this Smog Test location four years in a row. The first three years were great - they were able to get me in and out quickly, no issue. This year, they were again able to get me in quickly, but my vehicle did not pass smog due to a missing gas cap (obviously my fault). The technician/owner indicated I should replace the gas cap, drive the vehicle at least 60 miles, and return. He indicated the retest would only be an additional $20. Fair enough. After getting the gas cap, driving 60 miles, and returning for a retest, this time he indicated that he was unable to locate the part number on my after market intake and I would need to take it to a shop and get the part number. I explained that a) I would have appreciated having this information after the first visit, and b) it had passed smog with him three times with the same intake. He indicated he "must have overlooked it" in prior years. Again, fine. I take my car in to the shop, they find the part number, I head back a third time. This time, he says, "Oh, sorry, I actually need the California EO number." I leave, call the shop, get the EO number. I return a FOURTH time and give him the EO number. He says, "Oh, sorry, I need the part and EO number for the spacer as well." In lieu of returning a 5th time, I decided to try another smog place - Excel Smog - just across the 805 from this test center. It passed with no issue. So, you can roll the dice and try this place - they are certainly great and accommodating drive-ups, but the communication and service outside of that are abysmal. read more
