The factor that makes it my favorite among a ubiquitous industry are the people who I see inside every time I go. Any given day you are likely to walk in and get a compulsive "hey buddy, how ya doin?" from the owner, Mike. He has a few convenience stores around the west bank but is frequently hanging out in this one while overseeing his friendly staff and shooting the breeze with the locals that come and go all day long. Since I work a few doors down in the shopping center, Mike and I see each other enough that we even have an implied pay more/pay less policy so that neither of us are messing around with small coins on the counter or in our pockets. It might be the "Belle Chasse Cigarette Discount" in name, but it'll always be "Mike's" to those of us in the community.
