It's ok. Not the worst thing I've ever eaten but definitely nothing special. If I were headed toward Eugene, I'd just wait an hour and eat someplace else but going east, you might wanna stop instead of waiting. The sampler came with extra pulled pork and brisket because they only make ribs on certain days apparently. Not sure what normal portions look like but this just seemed like a " normal" sized portion to me. Struck me as strange to offer a sampler plate that offers ribs as one of the three choices yet they only make ribs a couple days a week, but whatever. It is, what it is. The pork was chopped to the point of being pulverized which I actually see in alot of bbq places. I wish people would stop doing this and just hand pull the pork into larger pieces but that just my personal preference. I understand that other people like this. It is " pulled pork" after all. In my experience, when you see pulled pork that's pulverized or chopped brisket on the menu. It's usually what they do when the barbecue turned out dry and they're trying to make it sellable. The brisket here was very different than about any brisket I've ever had . Thin sliced and salty. When I say " thin sliced " I mean it. Literally like bacon thin. Pale with a kinda grey-ish look in appearance that almost looked and tasted and looked like poorly cooked bacon. It was reasonably tender but stringy because it was cut with the grain which I've never seen and is basically wrong no matter where you go. Very little smoke flavor or any flavor really other than salt. Just kinda strange for brisket but somehow edible if you're hungry and just paid 26.00 for lunch. They charge you for the bread if you want it. It's just a cold , dry , day old sandwich roll you see at the grocery store . I think it's called an outdoor roll and delicious when fresh. This one could use a little help by being warmed up slightly but sadly was not. Overall, edible I suppose and not gross but definitely not the brisket I expected. Cole slaw was dry, needed dressing. Basically shedded cabbage with a slight hint of sweetness . The potato salad was obviously bought at the grocery store. The guy serving ( probably owner) was not rude but definitely wasn't friendly either. Just kinda there to make the transaction. Nothing more, nothing less. Worth a stop if you're hungry, not terribly picky and would rather eat real food instead of some fast food burger. Just know you may walk away from this place feeling as if it never happened because it's completely forgettable ( which is both good and bad probably) The most annoying thing (and this had nothing to do with the food) was some guy in a giant diesel truck idling the whole time while he ate in his truck. The entire area was choking with diesel fumes to the point that we walked out to the parking lot 50 yards away to wait for the food. If the owner reads this, I would suggest maybe asking people not to idle their diesel trucks in front of the place where people are sitting. Just a suggestion that I think people might appreciate. Beyond that , it's the best BBQ place in town!! If you been to oak ridge, you'll understand! read more

Just finish a day skiing at Williamette Pass with my daughter. Noticed this bbq place the day before while getting my A&W float fix just next door. I got 5 ribs (pork) for $2 each. They had a nice sweet rub to it. Went with a mild sauce since my daughter isn't into spicy. Note: sauce is a little runny but tasted good. The ribs were meaty and tasted delicious.. The gentleman was very nice to my daughter and gave her a lollipop. Will be back tomorrow to try out the brisket. The town of Oakridge didn't have cell phone coverage...at least no T-mobile so if you're reading this ahead of time give this place a try. read more

This was a nice little BBQ place off the side on HWY 58. No issues with parking. There were some tables and it was outdoors, but no chairs or stools to sit. We had been driving for a while so not a problem to just stand. The gal there was very friendly, smiling, and gave great service. The pricing was actually really good for it being a BBQ joint and the amount of meat you get. We got the Sampler for 2-3 people and it was $33. I would give the food a 4.3/5. It had great smoky flavor, but not overpowering. Ribs: They were fantastic! They were thick, meaty spareribs. The color, the dry rub used you can taste, and it blended well with the smoky flavor. No BBQ sauce was needed. You could take a bite, and it was firm yet tender. It was not falling apart and mushy. It was like competition style (my preferred method) and not backyard BBQ style where it falls off the bone. They also sell individual bones for $2. Brisket: I thought it was pretty good and had potential. It had good flavor, but it was cut pretty thin and some pieces were not cut against the grain. I didn't get good pictures of the brisket alone. Pulled Pork: My least favorite of the 3. It had good flavor and you can see that some good bark was built on it. There were some bark included at it was good. My only issue, was that it was shredded way too thin and in smaller shreds. Shredding it that small definitely makes the pork go farther. It's probably better for packing it on a Pulled Pork Sandwich. It kind of felt like if you were eating rice. It was pretty dry and required some BBQ sauce. In my opinion, you lose a lot of the moisture when you shred it that thin. I usually take the pork butt drippings/juice, put it through a fat separate, and then pour some of that juice back on top to keep it moist and flavorful. Sides: They're all cold served side. Mac Salad was tasty and wet. Coleslaw was a little dry and flavorless. It might have been made earlier and didn't have enough time to soak the juices. Baked beans were good as well. However, those portions are pretty small. It's like maybe a Chipotle size spoonful of the sides that you split amongst 3. Overall, I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. We were more than satisfied with everything. We will be stopping by next time we are in the area. Might have to drive down there just for the ribs! read more

Delicious bbq in a small town outside of Portland. It was the best option between the rest of the restaurants they had in town. It's like a little food cart! We got the nachos and brisket along with the fried mushrooms & Mac and cheese! A little too salty for me but hey it's bbq! Next to this to bbq joint there is giant dead dry field so I let my dogs out to empty their bladders very far from the place-before ordering. Next thing I know the man comes out of the bbq place to tell me THIS IS PRIVATE PROPERTY NOT A DOG PARK. I was taken back and responded with "my dogs just need to pee" and he continued to state this is private property. So i said "WELL MY FAMILY WAS GOING TO ORDER FOOD THERE BUT NOT ANYMORE"!!!! He kept going & said "what if I were to bring my dogs to YOUR house"?! I stated This isn't your house!! He kept going & said "how Do you know this isn't my private property"? I gave up & jumped back in my truck and left. Sooooo many people are driving through Oakridge from camping or to get to Eugene and there's a giant field next to A&W and this bbq shack it's perfect to have the dogs who have been traveling to get out and pee/poop there. I always pick up my dog's business. It has great parking for my truck and trailer. Was planning on getting food there because we always see the place driving thru. But NEVER will I stop there due to his unkind behavior. I get it, u don't want everyone leaving dog poop out next to his bbq in the giant field because some people don't pick up after their dogs... Then put a sign up then! Or put a poop bag dispenser out there.. Really wasn't impressed with this BBQ at all. I had the sampler which came with pulled pork, brisket, two ribs, and for the sides was coleslaw and Mac salad. The pulled pork was dry and bland, as were the ribs. The brisket however was moist and tender but lacked flavor. The bbq sauce provided was also very bland and came in an incredibly runny consistency, almost like water. The Mac salad taste like it came from a resers container instead of being homemade. The coleslaw lacked much flavor or seasoning. I have to say my experience with this bbq for the price was very underwhelming and I wouldn't buy it again. read more

We stopped in after traveling from sunriver and I wished we would have kept going. We ordered the sampler platter with brisket, ribs and pulled pork. The pork was not pulled, it was minced and dry. The ribs were dry, the brisket was tender, which was the only thing going for it. All the sides are commercial battered and deep fried, no local flavor at all. anytime i go camping out past Oakridge, i always look forward to stopping by Smoken BBQ and getting a sandwich. it's so tasty; the beef is 100% delectable. the sauce is tasty and is put on in an appropriate amount - not too much, not too little. always makes me laugh because it's right next to a Subway; and these sandwiches are light years past what Subway offers. yes, you may wait a few minutes to get your order, but it's worth it. there's often only 1 person working there and, being popular, it can take a while to fill orders. read more

The BBQ was excellent. The Fried dill pickles had a blend of sour and savory, with a tasty batter that was fried crispy. The GOAT was spicy and smoky, not sticky. The ribs were out of this world. There was outdoor seating banquettes, and staff were noticed sanitizing between customers. They had wind barriers, and the smoker emitted amazing smells. The skillful staff were witnessed mixing sauces in a bucket with a power drill!! The ONLY complaint, & it's a big one, is that amidst a deadly pandemic, the staff were not wearing masks. So my family came here twice in one week to eat. Such delicious food they wanted to share it with me. Which would have been third time in one week each time bill being $60 or over. Me scanning the card the lady hand me an I pad already set to sign NO where to leave a tip. I turn to my daughter and let her know. She says that is fine mom I have cash in the car. What a great find! We were heading back to Bend on a chilly fall day and saw the smoker going so we pulled over to check it out. We were greeted by the nicest people. We both had the special, 2 pulled pork sliders, chips and a drink for $5.00. The amount of meat on the sliders was generous. You might miss this little gem if you don't look for it. It is next to Subway/A&W. It looks like a tiny shack in the middle of a vacant lot. It isn't. It has a large modern BBQ and a full commercial kitchen. Seating is outside, and there are no restrooms. Everything is served in takeout containers. It is not open all of the time and appears to be family operated. Do not underestimate this place. I stopped on a trip back from the coast heading back to Bend for lunch. I had the "Old Goat" sandwich which consisted of properly oak smoked and rendered pork rib meat and chopped brisket. This monster weighed about a pound and came with a side of slaw and a canned soda for $10. They offer a not too sweet bbq sauce in both mild and spicy. I recommend spicy and it isn't hot. It may have been the best bbq sandwich I've ever had. This amount of food would sell for $20 in a sit down restaurant. I will never pass through Oakridge again without stopping here if they are open. If you order the chicken fritters don't be surprised when you get a chicken strip that looks "fresh" from the Safeway deli. Except the Safeway deli ones have a little flavor. The bbq sauce, which is typically a signature, was runny and flavorless. I got the spicy and it was BLAND. The coleslaw had zero dressing. Was literally chopped cabbage and carrots probably from a bag. No dressing, was it an oversight? You can't tell cuz the rest of the food was so bland, maybe they think that's what coleslaw is. Stopped by while traveling through and decided to give it a try. Its a cute little place nd the people were nice -but we should have kept going. The pulled pork sandwiches were cold, dry, and no BBQ sauce. Only taste seemed to be the liquid smoke. My husband had the ribs, which were also luke warm, and whatever they put on them irritated his gums. The ribs came with a little cup of something that looked like BBQ sauce but didn't taste like much but the liquid smoke again. The cole slaw had no flavor. The fries and fried macaroni were good. My husband and I stopped here for lunch on the way back from Willamette Pass after reading other reviews. Oh my, we couldn't decide what to choose. After reading the menu and speaking with the woman at the counter, the Combination Nachos that had chips, onion rings, French fries, smoked pork, smoked brisket, and all the condiments are what we ordered. Wow, there was so much food, enough for 4 people. This was so good, I haven't had better tasting brisket, the smoke flavor was perfect, it's smoky, moist, and succulent. The "burnt" char on the meat was crunchy but didn't taste burned. The smoked pork was just as good, probably some of the best bbq pork I've had. We plan on going back next time we're in the area to try something else. The prices are very low in comparison to the amount of food they serve. What a true find! We were in Oakridge with our RV and were dying for some barbecue. I have to say this place ranks in the top ten on my list! My wife is from Texas and when she says it's "awesome" it's Awesome. Alittle shack with great service and killer food at very reasonable prices. My husband and I split the brisket nachos. They were okay- we were hungry so we scarfed them down. Sadly, they made both of us sick. My husband got it worse than me. Probably a bad idea to get bbq on a Monday evening right before they closed- I bet the meat was old and had sat out all day. The gal serving us was very nice and helpful though!
