Despite the rebuild, this place still maintains a no frills atmosphere with barely enough seating for 20 people inside and seven picnic tables outside. I think they missed a great opportunity to make this place even more inviting than before, but that's not the case. I have to give them high marks for the very discernible smoke rings in the meat, but their sides are average. There's also very little in the way of rub on the meats, not salty or peppery. Not a fan of their thick ketchup-like sauce either. Your drink choices here are either water or fountain drinks, but no alcoholic beverages. And keeping with the bare necessities business model, when it comes to checking out with a credit card, that will be handled on the cashier's cell phone. My advice, is to skip the sides and get the meat to go. This place is only open 3 1/2 hours on the weekdays and closed on weekends. The Pork Steak was dry, and I did not care for the seasoning however, I ate only one half of the Pork Steak and the following morning, I wrapped the other half in foil, put it in the oven for about 30 minutes at 250 and I actually enjoyed it. As for the sides, I chose the Mac n Cheese and Green Beans and believe me, there was no excitement to be found. I believe in giving a venue a second chance so I will return to check out their smoked meats and hopefully I won't be disappointed.

Meat is sold by the pound, and we went with a Texas trio of brisket, pork ribs and jalapeño cheese sausage. The pork ribs were so tender, they slid off the bone and went straight into my mouth. Moist brisket was tasty and well, moist. Glancing over at the sausage and seeing it drip with cheese, made me want it even more. Adding the potato salad as a side was solid.
