We went on a family camping trip to hike and go white water rafting. This place surpassed…read moreexpectations for so many reasons. 1. Location is very convenient to Moxie Falls. About a 10 minute drive away. 2. The camping offers many options from hotel rooms in the lodge, to cabins, to RV sites, tent sites and cabin-tents. We tried the cabin-tent and LOVED it. We are use to camping in tents so a cabin-tent felt luxurious. 3. The lodge offers a huge hot tub, a swimming pool, corn hole, billiards, and an arcade...complete with several claw games which all kids love. 4. The food and drinks are really quality. We're talking gourmet food, but good selection of classics and something for everyone. They have a great selection of craft beer. 5. The white water rafting is down to a science! They offer gear for staying warm even when wet...wetsuit parts (jackets, pants, booties), and of course life jackets and helmets. You literally just have to show up. 6. The guides and staff in the lodge are very knowledgeable, very friendly, and some of them are very funny. All of them are great to talk to. We rafted the Kennebec, and we can't wait to come back and do the Dead River and the Penobscot too!

Nice cozy couches in this area as well. The staff were some of the nicest people I have ever met. This is an all season place. It is definitely worth the trip!

I was super impressed with their operation, we were trained, given gear, and put onto the bus to head to the top of the release point. The ride up was filled with good stories and information for the day. The river was fantastic, we were able to hit all but one of the features on the river. We worked hard and the reward was thrilling. When we got to the end of the run we hopped out, took our rafts up and out of the way, went back to their facility and had a wonderfully prepared meal with options of steak, chicken, or veggie burger. Kayak1 delivered to our doorstep. Because we prepaid via PayPal, we did not have to be at our rental when the kayaks showed up. We got a text saying everything was delivered. Included the kayaks, life vests, paddles, and dry bags. The equipment was great quality and even had metal rudders which we were not expecting. The six of us had no real issues in getting around and probably the biggest problem was getting them back up to dry land and they are heavy! Overall, we had a good time using the kayaks and the customer service was top of the line. We would recommend if you're in the area. $130 per tandem kayak for two days. $20 delivery charge. $410 total.

Ducktrap Kayak has a really sparse website, but don't let that fool you--they know what they're doing. Rental prices are very reasonable, and they will either help you strap the kayaks to your car or pick you up and drop you off at your convenience. The guy we spoke with was super knowledgable and suggested we kayak around Lake Megunticook (rather than in the ocean), which ended up being a fabulous choice. Even in early June, the water was warm enough to swim in, and there are several 'islands' where you can dock your kayak and stop for a bite to eat or a swim. We started early, so it felt like we had the lake to ourselves! Before he pushed us off, the owner gave us a rundown of how to work the kayaks and some tips for having a great trip.
