What a great experience! Our time on the river was a blast. All 3 guides were amazing, with awesome stories and fun personalities. I was super impressed with their operation, we were trained, given gear, and put onto the bus to head to the top of the release point. The ride up was filled with good stories and information for the day. The river was fantastic, we were able to hit all but one of the features on the river. We worked hard and the reward was thrilling. When we got to the end of the run we hopped out, took our rafts up and out of the way, went back to their facility and had a wonderfully prepared meal with options of steak, chicken, or veggie burger. Pro tip, they sell 6 packs inside. If you are looking for an awesome adventure try to get here on a release date! Thats not on our list! read more

My husband and I had never been white-water rafting before and, boy, did we pick the right company to go with!! Booking our trip by phone was easy and they e-mailed super-helpful info. within minutes of making the reservation, so we felt well-prepared for the trip. Upon arrival, the check-in and outfitting processes moved along very smoothly; the pre-trip instruction was as entertaining as it was helpful; and they did a great job pairing us with a guide and fellow rafters we really clicked with. It was a "big water" release day on the Kennebec River and even the seasoned guides were super-stoked about the conditions which were **O-M-G**!! Pure thrills and spills!! We had such a dynamite experience that we booked another trip with US rafting a few weeks later for a Dead River release day, and again it was a total 11 on a scale of 1-10!! I recently came here for a snowmobiling trip with friends. I had an unbelievable time. The lodge was one of the best I have ever stayed in. Coming back after a long day snowmobiling it was great to have a place to relax. It really felt like home. There were tv's, games, movies, etc... But one of my favorite things was to relax on the couch right next to the pellet stove and warm up. The beds were very comfortable and the heater in the room kept me warm and comfortable. You never run out of things to do here, whether it's hitting all of the trails on a snow mobile (convenient access right on the property), snow shoeing, cross country skiing, etc... I definitely have a new Maine destination. I can't wait to come back for another snowmobiling trip and a rafting trip in the summer as well. The staff is second to none, they really bend over backwards to make sure you have a great time. I whole heartedly recommend them for your next trip... read more

I highly recommend staying away from this company for your excursion. There are so many others out there that treat you with respect. Myself along with 12 buddies used this company for our bachelor party and everything went great until the end of the trip. Before I start I just want to say Chris, one of the tour guides was great and we had a great time with him. Addie, on the other hand was very confusing and disrespectful to her group. The guides were both TIPPED very generously before we left for the river. But when we were on the bus ready to leave Addie and two other guides started yelling at us like children because they said all of our group was not on the bus, when in fact, all 12 of us were on the bus and ready to go. When I counted out the people on the bus in front of the others she must have taken offense to this because this is when the disrespect started coming even more. Addie along with the two other guides, one of which had tattoos and pink hair (names unknown) started taunting us the whole way home. As we were trying to leave, we were getting screamed at because they said we were not allowed to leave, but what they didn't realize is that a friend in our group is a Diabetic and we had to get him home to get his insulin. We decided not to go back and eat after this because of the way we were treated. If I were you and you're planning on a white water rafting trip I suggest going with one of the many other companies within this area. Like I said before, we don't want to put any heat on Chris because he was excellent and we had a great time with him. Went yesterday with a group of 7. Three of us stayed overnight before the trip at the lodge.. At $30 a person it was well worth it to not drive 5 hours early in the morning. Plus they let us have a fire and beers and the night was beautiful. I was SO scared for the rafting but it was awesome and I'd definitely do it again. The guides were not only hilarious and entertaining but they were great at what they did and I felt very safe. Our guide was Cory.. Highly recommend him but all the others seemed great too. The meal after with barbecue chicken was delicious and was a great way to finish the day. The guides also highly recommended checking out Moxie falls before leaving. We took the short walk to the falls and they were beautiful! All around awesome experience :) read more

I have rafted in Maine a total of 4 times now and this was the first time using US Rafting. While US Rafting does not have the amenities of some of the bigger outfits, nor do they provide the photography and video capabilities, they offer a much better rafting experience which is the reason we are thee in the first place. Unlike the bigger companies, the guides at US Rafting have the latitude to get to know their "rafters" and cater the experience to them. This was my second time on the Kennebec River and the experience was completely different than the first to the point where I thought I was on a different river. US Rafting made our experience adventurous and the high energy and good feeling lasted in our boat throughout the day. Ryan was the best of the 4 guides I have had when rafting. He was personable, very knowledgeable of the river and its surroundings pointing out all that the river had to offer. He got to know each and everyone of us and remembered our names. Towards the end he provided us with snacks and played some leisurely tunes when we were on the slower part of the river. I went on a trip with US Rafting yesterday and it was most excellent. This is the second time I've gone down the Kennebec (previously I did it with Magic Falls) and was not disappointed. What a great time. White water rafting is a must-try to anyone that has ever loved amusement park rides. If you're about to go for the first time--be sure to bring a water bottle. I was terrified to go white water rafting but this crew really calmed me down and showed my group a great time! It was a category 3 and 4 at some points and it was an absolute blast! I recommend using US Rafting as your company guide! All the crew members were friendly and funny! It felt like family! They had a delicious pig roast after our trip on Saturday and it was amazing! I had such a great time with these guys! I must admit that I wasn't too enthused at the thought of a family trip to go rafting, but I'm glad my dad talked me into it! A group of 8 of us went up and did the High Water Release on the Kennebec River, and it was amazing, our guide, Ryan, was experienced, clearly knowledgable about all the features in the river, whether it be giant waves like "Maytag" or where to look out for eagles. He was also hilarious and kept us entertained in the "quiter" sections of the river. The owner Bill runs a phenomenal operation full of dedicated and passionate employees who love what they do. My family just booked our next trip, where we will be experiencing the Dead River High Water release, and I couldn't before excited. Oh and I almost forgot how good the home made meal at their lodge is upon return from the trip. I am still craving those baked beans and it was almost six months ago! read more

I went with a group of 8 people, we signed up as part of a living social deal, plus we rented two rooms at the outpost lodge. We started our night down at the marshall inn for some drinks and a quick bite an It was very good plus the drinks were pretty cheap. The trip was a blast, the staff was friendly, the guide (Corey I believe) was fantastic, highly recommend him. The water was chilly but all of us got in at one point, in fact most of us stayed in and went through the smaller rapids! There were some serious bugs out there to, MOOSE FLIES! The photographers who were on shore were great to, we stopped by their place on our way out to buy the cd and they were great. The meal after the trip was great to, usually places skimp on that, but the meal was plenty big and left all of us full, a few of us even went back for 2nd helpings! The Kennebec trip was a little shorter than I thought it would be, but it was a great time! Everyone in the group wants to go again! I would highly recommend it! My wife and I have rafted the Kennebec River twice: once with US Rafting and once with Northern Outdoors (went with a larger group). Both times we had a blast but each experience was slightly different. We stayed at a campground located down a very long dirt road and next to a lake. The area was beautiful and the spot had a wooden stand to set up the tent. The next day we went back down the long dirt road to get to US Rafting which was right next to the road. Tom was our guide and he was an excellent instructor. The rafting itself was awesome and Tom did a great job of keeping us coordinated. It was thrilling to hit the rapids and we were able to paddle our raft into several eddies where the raft was just held in place. In the slack parts of the river we got out of the raft and floated along. The scenery was beautiful and the rafting was so much fun. We loved it. After rafting we were taken back to headquarters. They served us lunch which was OK and showed us a video of the trip which was pretty cool. In comparison to our experience with Northern Outdoors, we liked the accommodations and lunch better with Northern Outdoors but we liked the rafting experience of US Rafting more. Rafting takes priority so 5 stars for US Rafting although we really enjoyed both. read more

Located next door to Hawk's Nest Lodge, where we were staying. Couldn't get any closer! Competent, fun, well trained staff and rapids - what more do you need? This was my 11 year old daughter's first trip - she loved it - wants to come back next year and do the Dead River trip. Corey was our guide - Thanks for keeping us safe and making our trip great. It was awesome. The guides were very entertaining and knowledgable. The rapids were a blast... Even if you go overboard. We jumped in and floated down the lower part of the trip, which couldn't have been better. The water was warm enough and you lie on your back and think you're in heaven. We did the moxie falls hike before heading home. It's a mile and a half roundtrip and worth the view. read more

After facing what could have been a trip ending oops (keys locked in the car), the owner Bill even gave us a ride back to the campsite and picked up wood along the way! This is the only place that I don't mind driving 5 hours there and driving 5 hours back home that's how great it is!!! I've been doing atleast a day trip there for the last few years from Massachusetts and loving every minute. This year that's all I bought for me and my wife's family so they could enjoy it with us and just got back from the first twin ( got two planned and everyone was amazed by the guides and the experience plus there food is better then most restaurants. Just came home from year three with U.S. rafting and another incredibly fun weekend. Our group grows every year simply based off the fact that the weekend as a whole is awesome. We rented out the house on the property and everything from check in and out to the bedrooms themselves was fantastic. The guides are hilarious and fun but most importantly, they cater to the needs of the guest. The whole staff is always friendly and willing to help, they show the guests a great time. The deal for rafting, lunch, and stay of two nights for a weekend full of shenanigans is insanely good and we wouldn't go anywhere else. They have a solid handle on how businesses should run to keep customers coming back. The guides in particular we love have been Ryan and Ray - hope to have Ryan back with our group for next year. Went up with a group of three other friends. Was a little nervous as it was early October and the weather was wet and cold (I highly recommend getting a wet-suit if its chilly). What seemed like a possibly crappy trip was excellent. Everything went along very smoothly in the morning. All the guides were very fun and seemed to love their jobs. We had Ray as our guide who was funny, professional and made the trip great. Went down the Kenebec with class 3/4 rapids and even got to float down some class 2's. Great scene as we floated down surrounded by the fall foliage. Afterwards there was a nice lunch ready for us a few minutes after we got back. This is a great outfit and I highly recommend them. FYI if the weather is bad and you don't feel like camping check out 15 Mile Stream Lodge, we got a cozy, but no-frills cabin for $30 per person. Friendly staff. read more

This rafting trip was a first me and 3 others. We had a fantastic time....the guides were so awesome. We had Caitie(AWESOME!!), but it appears all others were great too! They all had a great sense of humor but also made you feel so comfortable with their extensive experience. What a great team they make.... One recommendation I have is for the Outpost overnight accommodations...we brought our own food and stayed at the Outpost. The cleanliness of the Outpost was less than satisfying....there was dated food left behind from other guest as well which was a turn off. The bathroom trash was full upon our arrival and the bathroom was extremely dirty. The dishes in the kitchen sink from the prior party had been washed but not put away. There was a sponge in the sink that was extremely dirty I threw it out for the smell was offensive. There were cobwebs with spiders in the kitchen where the pots and pans are stored, the refrigerator was dirty inside etc...if we go back for the awesome rafting, we will not stay at the Outpost. I would also suggest screens in the doors....we ate our dinner shooing flies off of our food. read more

My girlfriend and I rafted in anything but quiet water for the first time, with US Rafting. We signed up for the ducky trip. Inflatable kayak. The office had told us class 1, but it was more like class two and three. We were in over our head, literally, as I got dumped out and came very close to drowning. Chris our guide pulled me out and got me to shore where I regrouped. Chris was very calm and capable and very patient. I would recommend inexperienced white water kayakers to check with your guide before you go out, and make sure your not taking on anything you can't handle. Your guide will be more knowledgeable and helpful than the office staff. This can be a great experience if you know what your doing, and the guides at US Rafting are the best. Despite the incident I'm giving it three stars because of the competency of our guide, and the beauty of the river. read more

This is my sixth, and largest trip with US Rafting. We had a group of 25, with several first timers. It happened to rain each of the two nights we stayed keeping us all inside each night and we all had a great time. Plenty of room for everything we had going on. We planned this trip for a while and with this many people we had plenty of changes to make. Michelle took excellent care of me through emails and calls. Billy also took care of me when Michelle was on vacation. This is a 100 percent can't miss company. From every guide truly caring about your well being to how you want your steak cooked. I head up there every year and plan on using US Rafting every time. read more

Set up a surprise rafting trip for my boyfriend's birthday and it was amazing! Would highly recommend this company to anyone wanting to raft. Our guide was J. Mac and he was fantastic. He looks like Santa and this made me happy. :) All the staff were incredibly friendly and energetic which made the day all the more exciting. They even recommended a great little hike to see Moxie Falls after the trip which added to the day's fun. Lunch was a great addition and I love that they offer photos at the end of the trip, especially since we look like Santa's reindeer, lol. Our group decided that we loved it so much we want to do the Dead River release next year and we will definitely be using U.S. Rafting for our trip!!! read more
