After unsuccessfully preparing to make anything for dinner and with it increasingly getting late, I decided to opt for something light and in liquid form. I decided a protein shake sounded great so I headed over to Smoothie King. I walked in and noticed it looked a wee bit different from the menu to the other products they had. It was then I realized the last time I was here, they still had mangosteen madness on the menu! I was having a bit of difficulty trying to differentiate between the get fit and manage weight sections. When I asked the two people behind the counter, they didn't seem to know either. I ultimately decided to use my best judgement and go with the 20 oz (small) metabolism boost, substituted the gladiator protein for whey, and added blueberry. It ended up being $9.00 and some change. Not bad, but keep in mind I only added 1 enhancer (wild blueberries)! After waiting a few minutes, my order was ready. The first sip was interesting, to say the least. I was hoping to taste a surge of blueberry with hints of the manger ginger but instead, tasted a berry chalk. I think it was the protein that overpowered the smoothie because it was definitely on the thick side and not how I remember the smoothies to be. It was confirmed at 9:07, then got text at 9:10 saying it will be delivered at 9:32 then another letting me know my driver arrived at 9:15.At 9:48 I get a text saying it was canceled because the store is closed. No one will answer the phone to see when I should expect my money back. The hours of operation say they are open 7AM-9PM. I think coorporate needs to investigate this location ASAP Editing to add that I was able to talk to someone at the store and their opener didn't come in; however, I was informed that if I wanted my money back I had to come in store for the refund. So the DELIVERY order was cancelled on their end because their opener didn't open the store yet I have to come in to the store in order to get my refund for the order they canceled. I reitterate that coorporate needs to investigate this store ASAP and I will be contacting them as it is clearly poorly managed. One girl was working her tail off and super flustered... she just walked in circles asking herself what to do next. I go to smoothie king frequently, often using mobile ordering. This location in particular is terrible for service. I walked in 15 minutes after I placed the order today (within the time frame in the app), and another customer can't in exactly when I did. Aside from the two of us there were no customers in sight. For one, you don't need this many. For two; the business is set up to where people can see and watch what you are doing - it's part of your job - deal with it! I've been coming here off and on for years. The smoothies are good and there are numerous vegan options. Staff is not always knowledgeable about what ingredients are vegan-friendly at these franchise locations, this location included. I suggest looking at their app or website prior to ordering if you need to avoid any allergens, as the site is corporate and will provide details on these things. Service had always been lackluster with the younger kids working here but nothing that moved me to write a review about it. However, after my most recent experience, I'm adding this place to my "avoid" list. I had an early morning appointment and wanted to fuel up before that. I utilized the app to place my order, which is fairly easy to use. The app allows an ASAP order time or later times in 15 minute intervals. My ETA was around 8:37am. I chose 8:45am as to not have the smoothie sitting there for 10 minutes. I called the store to advise of the time difference. I've done this before at different franchises across the U.S. and never had a problem. Crystal, who identified herself as a general manager no less, had zero customer service skills and was very condescending in the way she spoke to me. She would not make the smoothie at an earlier time and would not assist me at all in this matter. She is a horrible representation of the Smoothie King brand. Very hit and miss. Although I find myself being an avid enjoyer of this franchise I must remain honest. Sometimes my smoothie will taste awesome and other times the back of the dishwasher. I will say it taste better more of the time. Customer service is pretty decent expect for the one experience I had when the workers seemed to be laughing at me for filming a day-in-the-life. Finally, I'd like to mention the location. Why am I parking in between the smoothie king, a ghetto as gas station, and a car wash. The car wash exit is right by the entrance of the smoothie king. By far the worst experience I've at any smoothie king I've ever been to. There was a long line and the employees were moving as slow as possible. They did not have a care in the world. No one seemed to be in charge or knew what they were doing- staring at the recipe for a Smootbie that's as simple as 1 scoop or bananas, 1 scoop of strawberries, a scoop of non fat milk, some sugar, and ice. I stood in line for 15 minutes with 4 people in front of me, there were 3 employees behind the counter. After the 15 minutes I was next after the person in front of me. Meh. Smoothie King is a great chain for smoothies. Whether you want something healthy for fitness or a basic smoothie, they have something to feed your addiction here. The Angel Food with strawberries and bananas are my personal fave, but last week I had The Activator with strawberries and bananas for because I was feeling really fit just coming from the gym. Eh, it wasn't bad but I could taste a little chalkiness at times in the drink. The service here is pretty basic, never anything above and beyond, but honestly how can it be too much more than basic. The $5 Friday deal is the best time to go, although the 20 oz smoothies are usually in the $5 range anyway, so you may save the better part of a dollar by waiting until Friday to come. We visited this location to pick up smoothies. We ordered online as the sign and the employees instructed. However they let a customer that came in as we were picking up our smoothies order in person and then told the next person who walked in that she had to order online. This place is awesome!! I have been to the Loop location a couple of times and finally visited the Olive location last week. After a long day of work....I had to head back to work for a late night. I needed a quick/healthy/yummy snack, and Smoothie King did NOT disappoint! My boyfriend came with. He got the mangosteen smoothie which is one of the only vegan options. I really wish he shared this info with me/I knew which the vegan options were. Their menu is so expansive, it's a little overwhelming! I went with an Island-Something smoothie that the cashier/smoothie chef recommended. I added an energy shot to this. BF also got a wheat grass shot which he loved. Both are smoothies were delicious! Mine was maybe a bit too rich, possibly due to yogurt/frozen yogurt in the smoothie? I felt really rushed to order and didn't choose wisely enough. Still really good. Sign up for their emails...you get great coupons for discounted and free smoothies. Completely worth it. Download their app and earn smoothies. For someone who loves their smoothies this is great to have. I try to stick to chocolate and banana something...yummy. They also sell supplements, energy drinks and energy bars. Thumbs up! Took my daughter for a treat this weekend and decided to try something a little healthier than ice cream. So we decided to stop into the local Smoothie King. I was actually impressed. They had numerous options and even some kid options and kid "sizes". My daughter had the choco-laka and I tried the Orange-Kabam. I didn't venture and try any additional add-ons but I did enjoy what I ordered. I wanted to stick with the healthy choices but the "indulge yourself" options were tempting. The Strawberry Kiwi Papaya is the best drink, its absolutely delicious. Very fruity and light and refreshing. I came here after hiking and it was the perfect pick me up refreshment. I walked in maskless and was rudely told to go get one. After returning with my mask on, I was told to wear it properly even though I already was. A buddy of mine was reprimanded for a mistake made on the card reader and treated poorly. Our smoothies came out and they were rock solid and the fruit was almost never blended.
