I absolutely love Smoothie King! It's been a hot minute since I've been to SK but it felt so nice to be back and pick up a couple of smoothies again. This location was exceptionally clean and stocked with protein powder and post-workout snacks for additional purchase, the staff was helpful and quick, and the smoothies tasted delicious. This last visit I opted for a Mango Ginger Metabolism Boost while my fiancé chose the Chocolate Peanut Power Plus. Neither of the drinks tasted too protein powdery, something worth noting for people who don't like the taste, and were super smooth and easy to sip on. My Mango Ginger was a light and refreshing drink that actually helped me feel more awake, the sweetness of the mango cutting the ginger spice for a satisfyingly sweet and tangy flavor. The Peanut Power Plus, however, was a little less sweet, and was an absolute peanut butter experience with a subtle earthy flavor from the dates. Both drinks were super tasty in their own right. I ordered through the app for pick up on Last Saturday March 6 and the young lady gave me the wrong cup. I realized that when I got home so I immediately called them up. They know they made a mistake and I was told I could go back the next day to pick up my correct order. Was not able to make it that Sunday so I called up and asked if I could pick it up the next day Monday instead, they said yes. There was no issue at alI was able able to pickup it up. They put entirely too much ice in the smoothies and then don't do a good job of blending it. It ends up tasting like if you made a nice smoothie and then doused it in ice water. It's seemingly beyond them that the operative word in "smoothie" is "smooth" and if you look at the drink before you hand it to a customer and it looks clumpy or lumpy, you probably didn't blend it properly and not only is it going to taste awful, but it's also going to take forever to drink because you have to wait for the chunks of ice to melt to make it drink-able. Another tell-tell sign is when you see them struggling to pour the smoothie into the cup - again should be a glaring red flag - but they will beat the poor pitcher like it's the pitcher's fault they don't know how to blend. With the prices Smoothie King charges, I'm tired of getting watered down SLUSHES - that's what these are - not smoothies. Also the price of bowls is insane for the little amount of actual food/product you get. Especially when a majority of it is a base and not the real "premium ingredients." I'll get them if there's a good coupon or I have a lot of rewards banked but other than that y'all are high as those prices! read more

This Smoothie King location is definitely one of the nicer ones in SA. It's located in a small plaza off of Louis Pasteur next to one of the Bakery Lorraine locations. It's easy to miss off that road especially with the immense traffic during peak times. So make sure to keep an eye out when curbing your smoothie craving. I'd also recommend parking off to the side of the plaza if you're just going in to pick up a smoothie & not planning on sitting around. The side parking is easier than maneuvering through the usually crowded & small parking lot. As far as the smoothie itself, it was delicious! I've never had a bad smoothie from any Smoothie King so far (*knocks on wood*). I get the same thing every visit & it's the Angel Food with kiwi juice. I used to frequent the Austin location on the Drag (shoutout to those who know where that is) and this location is far nicer/cleaner. It's located off of Louis Pasteur in a small shopping center, and is the small establishment between Bakery Lorraine and Local Coffee. There is a large sign, so it's hard to miss, however the entrance to the shopping center is quite sharp and very easy to miss! There is a ridiculously small parking lot in front and a slightly larger parking lot in the back, so be careful of the turn into the shopping center and while trying to find a spot within. The employees are very friendly and willing to walk you through the entire process. I wanted a refreshing treat for myself and got the Angel Food smoothie--one of their "slim blends" that doesn't taste slimming at all but instead like a nice strawberry-banana-vanilla dessert. Cons (aside from the horrible parking situation)? Definitely the brain freeze. But it's a fair trade-off for such a yummy smoothie. Aside from that, everything else (from the great customer service, cleanliness of the place, quick service, and quality smoothie) gets two thumbs up from me. I've visited this smoothie king twice. It's clean and brand new. The first time the staff was friendly and I ordered a Greek yogurt pineapple smoothie which was just OK. Second time I went I ordered two smoothies as meal replacements for my spouse and I. One of them was the skinny almond mocha high protein and the other was the vanilla hulk. The almond mocha high protein was terrible, it tastes like almonds mixed with ice it was terrible had all this grainy bits of almonds in it made it gritty. Needless to say I threw it away it was that bad. The hulk is better, it falls under the "fitness" blend but it has ice cream in it so it'll put you at a whopping 88 grams of sugar for a 20 ounce. The gal making the smoothies did not look happy to be there and it took over 10 minutes to get the smoothies out even though It was just me and one other customer there. She first made the smoothie and it didn't fill up the cup but 3/4 so then she had to make more smoothie to fill it up. She gave me an attitude when handing me the smoothies. It was a weird experience and both smoothies were nothing fantastic. They charge a lot for these smoothies but the staff doesn't know how to help you navigate through the menu. Smoothies are my thing but I expect them to taste good and be creamy. Not all thick and iced, you practically need a spoon not a straw. These smoothies are suppose to be "healthy" but there is a lot of sugar in them. Even if you make them "skinny" as they say some still have over 50 grams of sugar. Maybe I ordered the wrong smoothies but I won't be in any rush to try them again. read more
