Located just 25 miles outside Seattle - Snoqualmie Falls is one of the United States most stunning waterfalls. The crashing falls is a sight to behold -- and also a major source of naturally generated hydro-electric power for the region. You can view the falls from a convenient park area with a platform giving 180 degree views of the waterfall. This waterfall is majestic. It is not as large as Multnomah Falls in Portland, but is still impressive nevertheless. Absolutely beautiful view of Snoqualmie falls with a small gift shop and a short trail to hike down to the bottom. Lots of photo opportunities and a hiking trail nearby as well. Leashed pets are allowed. Great for locals and There are also trails to see the falls from a different angle. I would go back again and again if I could! The drive here was about 40 minutes from Seattle. We got here around 5PM and there were lots of people. Parking wasn't bad though. There's 2 big lots available. We scored a spot literally out front. We got to view the waterfall from the upper level but wish we had proper shoes to hike down and view it from the bottom. There's plenty of photo ops so bring a camera! This should be a must see for anyone who lives locally or when people visit the area. The famous 270 foot waterfall should be immediately recognized by Twin Peaks fan as well as the Salish Lodge and Spa which doubled as the exterior for Great Northern Hotel in the opening credits. The first time we went, my mental jukebox started playing "Falling" by Julee Cruise. Even if you aren't a Twin Peaks fan, the falls are a popular tourist spot. There is free parking from dawn until dusk and you can see the majesty of the falls from the two-acre park or from the accessible observation deck. Snoqualmie Falls is one of our state's most popular scenic attractions and over 1.5 million people visit annually. There is NO cost to visit the falls and there are hiking trails for those feeling adventurous! Pets are also allowed provided they remain on their leashes. I also mentioned the accessibility of the space. Wheelchairs and those with mobility issues have around 200 feet to travel to reach the platform. There is RV and ADA parking, several picnic tables in the park for those pizzas from The Attic. Be aware though, no BBQing is allowed but you can order a pizza in advance from The Attic (at the Salish Lodge) and pull into the valet area to have it brought directly to your vehicle. Side note: their pizzas are hand-crafted and fired in our artisan pizza oven! This is a great quick pit stop- the falls are epic and really quite a sight to see. I like that it's well preserved and the integrity at the base of the falls is inaccessible or very hard to access so it keeps the natural beauty in tact. They have put in at the top of the falls a great viewing platform that is free and easily accessible. If you are near the area- make it a place that you visit! read more

Snoqualmie Falls is perhaps the most fascinating body of water (268 foot waterfall) we saw during our recent Oregon/Washington trip. There are a few very easy to get to observation decks that you can get to without walking very far from your car but to really get the "wow" effect we think that the trail that takes you to the bottom of the waterfall is the most incredible. The walk was so peaceful. The large Snoqualmie trees on both sides of the trail and the snow covering the ground really felt like we were going on an adventure to discover something new. read more

This place came at the recommendation of a tour guide in Portland. Boy did it not disappoint! A ways outside of downtown, with the slippery road I was a bit nervous to come out here. Not to mention it was cold so some occasional icy patches on the way out. But a breathtaking ride indeed. It's the suburbs, surrounded by lush greenery of beautiful Washington. Due to Covid (visit was in December 2020), wasn't certain if the place was open, but it was. I store for a bit in the parking lot, waiting to warm up before coming out to the cold, and some cops came up to me. They were very friendly and wondering if I was ok or lost. They kindly advised that the site is in fact open to visit and went on their merry way. Granted because it was empty I was also worried about getting out there alone. But it was comforting to have friendly cops help. From the parking lot, it's impossible to see or hear, but when you walk up the path, the way opens op to this gorgeous view! The waterfall and the whole area just peaceful and beautiful (and cold lol). Worth the drive outside downtown! Great accessibility! Make sure to park across and take the pedestrian bridge to the falls. It's a very short walk and takes you straight to the top view of the falls! You just have to walk a little bit down a few steps to see a better view. A lot of people parked in the closer parking lot (parking fee), but they all had to climbs stairs to get to the viewing area... so park across the street! It's not far at all. Go in the morning. Hubby and I took a day drive out of Seattle to see nature in Washington. We found Snoqualmie Falls on here and thought it would be awesome. The big draw is of course the waterfall....but that is literally all there is. There are a few viewing spots at the top and a lodge/hotel there as well. The "attraction" itself is free to see, but you pay to park. Overall this is essentially like visiting a very busy park with a waterfall. The waterfall itself is nice, but not necessarily worth a day trip. I understand that there is usually a bottom viewing area that you can get to from the walking trail. There was signage up when we were there that it was currently closed. We did take the walking trail for a nice hike. At the bottom it is a river and some rocks. On a nice day, its a nice hike. read more

Snoqualmie Falls is a small waterfall located outside of Seattle. About 30 miles, 40 minute drive from the main Seattle area. Parking is free if you park across the street. There are two levels in the lot and you have to cross the pedestrian bridge to get to the waterfall. Super packed lot, tight roads to maneuver when in the lot. Got to be patient and wait for a spot to open up. From the lot, depending where you park, the walk is about 5 minutes to get to the actual waterfall from the bridge. The bridge is located on the lower level lot. The first viewing area is pretty crowded, walk down a little more and you get a good view and less people around you. Smaller of the waterfalls I have seen. They built a lot around the area for visitors. Tourist spot. If you have spare time in Seattle, worth a visit! read more

It was beautiful and refreshing to come up here to see this waterfall. It has good volume of water but was not very high in height, comparatively, to water falls in Yosemite or the Columbia River Gorge. The hike from the top of the falls down to bottom of the falls was rather interesting. Here you are able to explore the thick forest undergrowth. There were interpretive signs to inform you of the names of the plants in the forest. There was a parking lot near the bottom of the falls that was very empty as of May 9th 2017. It looks new and may be not known to many yet. My friends daughter who lives in Seattle thanked me for letting her know about this parking lot. The maps provided for hikes were the most confusing I have ever seen. Providing detailed contour lines among the trail routes just obfuscate the clarity of trails and I was not the only one who thought so. read more

When googling things to do in Seattle, Snoqualmie falls pops up. Curiosity brought me here. I made the trip out to the falls just to experience Washington's beauty. Scenic drive to get to the falls. There is plenty of "free" parking on the side of the highway. If not, there is a small lot and I think it is $7/hour? Don't quote me on that. It is a short walk to the falls. There are many other trails, but my family didn't have time to check it out entirely. It was short and sweet. The falls generates from what I was told 80%? of Seattle's electricity. The falls is only at 25 capacity since the water is being drained out at the bottom to create energy. Someone correct me if i'm wrong! read more

Absolutely loved visiting the falls! If you're lazy and want to drive right up to a view, this is a great place to do it. The falls are just a short walk from the parking lot and man, that view is amazing. You could feel the mist from falls even though I was at the upper part of the falls! I think you could easily do both the upper and lower viewing parts. Its just a short trail hike down to the lower part where you can see the falls from the river. Warning, the lower viewing platform is tiny and is crowded often, so its hard to get a good photo. There's also a gift store at the top that has some interesting stuff and the clothing isn't too bad. Twin Peaks! We finally made it to Snoqualmie Falls to check out the view and boy was it beautiful! The park is perfectly positioned for you to check out the falls easily, or go on a short hike. We arrived on an overcast and snowy day, but the view was even more beautiful with the steam rising from the falls. There are 2 landings to check out views of the falls. There's a mile and change trail (somewhat of a steep hill) that you can go down and explore. There are some amazing trees down the trail and it is mostly paved due to the high foot traffic. The gift shop was pretty standard without much specific to the falls. I enjoyed the whole visit and would bring people back to visit in the spring! read more

We came here around 6pm on a Friday in July and there were free parking on the other side of the road, and not too many people. This was the highlight of my trip! The water falls were gorgeous and the 1/2 mile hike was very picturesque. The hike (covered in trees with lots of shade) reminded me of our wedding venue :) By the time we reached the very bottom of the trail, there was a huge rainbow by the water falls. P.S. I highly recommend this to people who've never been. It's so accessible and family friendly and just wow stunning. I don't even care about the crowds, I even saw cute pups on the way. The views were amazing and the hike was nice and short and a way to make it feel like not just an urban experience (I advise wearing sneakers as I wore sandals and had to be cautious going down hills with loose rocks). Tips: there's free parking in the upper lot (lower is paid) and there's honeybuckets on the way to the hike. There was a line to take pics at the lower viewpoint but it was a peaceful wait. A huge tourist trap and maybe a potential headache in terms of crowds, but in all it's might and splendor, Snoqualmie is a sight to behold. A MUST see and unforgettable once you do! You have the option of hopefully nabbing a spot in the small parking lot then walking up to the guard rail to view this majestic waterfall only. OR, you can view it from there, then take the trail down to the lower falls view point for a 1.5mi out-and-back hike. Access to the river as you get closer to the base of the waterfall is heavily restricted with fences and guard rails. Signs are also posted to keep out. We did see a girl (with a short skirt and heels) and a guy with a camera shimmy down probably to get closer to the falls, but on that rainy day with the river raging, it probably was not a good idea. Gotta get that ultimate IG picture I guess! In any case, a majestic beauty whether you view it from the upper deck or if you decide to hike down too. 30-40 minutes away from Seattle and a must visit! read more

This spot is a reasonable distance from Seattle, and a pretty low-key family friendly hike. Honestly, you don't even have to hike. There are 2 parking lots, 1 in front of the trail and 1 higher up where you cross a bridge over the inn/hotel and get to the upper view of the falls. The upper view of the falls overlooks the falls from a higher viewpoint. You can then follow the trail down (some elevation though!) to the lower view point where you can also see the power plants that the falls generate electricity through. They have multiple signs explaining the renewable energy source and also an interesting tale about how Snoqualmies came to be. It's a paved road, and I would say hiking to the lower view point is worth it. It was breathtaking to see the falls at eye level and closer. The upper parking is free and there are picnic tables to take a rest. Totally worth it! read more

We parked in the upper lot which meant we had to hike 1/2 mile to reach the boardwalk and water access of the waterfall. The hike isn't bad but it is a 1/2 UPHILL if you park in the upper lot! You will get a good workout in for sure! We found out that there is a lower lot that you can park in and avoid the hike all together! Many people, including ourselves, do not know that there is a lower lot until we get there and are hiking the trail! I posted a picture which explains where the lower lot is! An absolute must-see. We take everyone here whenever we have visitors (and come here ourselves just for fun too). Free parking across the street from the lodge, upper and lower viewing areas, and a separate spot to get down to the river below the falls that you can get to either by hiking a (steep) short trail or driving to the lower parking lot. It's really interesting to go at different days/times and see how the falls look with different water levels. Plus, if you like Twin Peaks, it's kinda fun to see the falls in person! read more

I really thought the falls were going to be bigger! All jokes aside, this park is pretty decent. Clean and large. Parking is kind of a pain in the butt and is easily over congested. The parking machines are regularly down or partially down which causes long lines and additional headaches. There is a nice gift shop and coffee spot on site which is great for getting a warm drink before checking out the falls. Parking is $7 and worth the money for a few hours of wandering the park and enjoying the falls. I don't feel like this place has a ton of revisit value though. Bring your visiting family and friends though, especially if they don't have waterfalls in their state. read more

We wanted to visit Snoqualmie Falls in summer, but, we waited until mid-September - and I'm really glad we did. We found a parking spot very close to the falls on a Sunday afternoon at 4:45pm, and it wasn't too crowded near the main falls. The mist that hung over the hundreds of trees near the falls was just as breathtakingly beautiful as the falls themselves, and that's saying a lot since this is a spectacular waterfall. There was a posted series of plaques near the falls with interesting information about influential people in the falls' history and the cycles of water. There are, of course, certain times of year or certain weather patterns during which the water flow of the falls will be enhanced or reduced. A beautiful place to visit. I was looking forward to our visit to Snoqualmie Falls, WA on March 18, 2018 since it was 29 years since I last visited. We were graced with a wonderfully beautiful sunny day and Snoqualmie Falls did not disappoint - absolutely breathtaking views of the falls! Salish Lodge is still there Falls-side but looking aged and weathered - far different than the upscale much newer Salish Lodge back in 1989. The park situated beside Snoqualmie Falls is a nice add with walkways, benches and stopping places to enjoy the Falls views. I do miss the 1989 Snoqualmie Falls which was then a far more "simple non-park" setting where you could easily walk down to naturally carved out trails to the waters edge unencumbered by park fences and now designated prohibited areas. I must have missed the Twin Peaks euphoria that is now associated with Snoqualmie Falls - to me, it's still a wonderful "back to nature" place to get away from downtown Seattle and enjoy a "slice of quiet heaven." So if you find yourself in the Seattle area, get away to Snoqualmie Falls -- it is a must visit! read more

Beautiful falls from multiple viewpoints! We made an easy trek here on a Sunday afternoon and there was no traffic getting here and it was very easy to find. Park at the lot directly across from the falls because it's free and it is just a short walk across the bridge to the sight. You can see the falls from the top or from the bottom. I preferred the bottom view because it looked more scenic and natural. You get to the bottom of the falls by hiking on a 1/2 mile trek downwards (follow signs). The trek is easy going downhill and my 64 year old aunt did it in her sandals. I would still recommend wearing tennis shoes. The walk up however is more intimidating as it is all uphill. To be honest we actually hailed an uber from the bottom to the top. It cost $10 and it took 10 minutes for the uber to come. I would have rather just hiked back up, but my party didn't want to go uphill. Just an FYI for all you non-uphill kinda people. You can either park at the bottom of the falls (small lot) or at the top of the falls (bigger lots). Depending on how you want to finish the hike I guess! There are lot of people crowding your photos though from the top or the bottom so that's the only drawback. Rare to find an opening for a solo shot. There is a clean public restroom (non portapotty) at the bottom of the falls. This is also where the parking lot is and where we got picked up from the uber. There is also a small gift shop that sells coffee and tea and other refreshments. All in all, an easy and refreshing way to spend an hour of your weekend! read more

Make sure to wear hiking shoes if you hv a hard time gripping gravel going downhill to each viewing area. Last one is the best n ppl took time to give each group their turn of the viewing platform. It was worth the 10-20 line wait. Everyone is in close proximity so a mask is a good thing since it's not just nationals but international sightseers. There's a clean restroom and parking at the last viewing area (rt above) of the "river view." You're able to soak in the cold water, wade or I even saw ppl bringing floating tubes. A really good thing is packing a picnic bc you're gonna want to just zen out daydreaming through the river's looking glass instead of a commercialized restaurant. It sort of reminded me of a miniature Niagara Falls feel. read more

The falls are beautiful even in the summer when there is less water. And, it is awesome that you can view it with very little effort since there is no hiking involved. Be sure to view it from the top and the bottom.
