I was looking for a SUP to rent and unfortunately they don't do that so I wasted my time. Oh my goodness. If you want a deal to save money this is the place to go! Kids snorkel rental $25 for 7 days! It includes goggles, snorkel and fins. They also have snorkels for adults and the price was reasonable as well. The person who worked there was not Bob but was very helpful. Debated whether to buy equipment or rent on a recent trip to Hawaii after seeing the equipment, rates and convenience offered by Snorkel Bob. I don't regret renting at all. Rented equipment for my family of four. High quality mask as advertised - comfortable and well maintained. They fit each person in our group for mask and fins and had no issues if we needed to exchange it later for a better fit. As novice snorkelers, we didn't need the upgraded fins or snorkel. Service and convenience was outstanding. We got a list of great snorkeling spots on the island with details on each. Returns can be made at any location (on any island!) and 24/7. The 24/7 drop off was great as we used the equipment on a manta ray night dive and were leaving first thing the next morning. Dropped everything off at 11:30pm and all was good! Last thing - not sure if Snorkel Bob is a pirate, but he does have character. I, Customer Eric, appreciated the humor injected into the website and all written material! read more

We only rented masks and snorkel which worked fine, though the masks got foggy and weren't very nice overall for the price. The guy at the counter was actually pretty helpful (although yes not particularly warm & fuzzy). However I am taking off a star because the replacement fees are exorbitant -- they would charge: $118 for a cheapo mask $61 for a snorkel (the most basic possible snorkel) $16 for a net bag (thought they gave this to us to be nice) read more

Bumping one star as they did follow up when they saw my previous review. After looking into it they did notice an overcharge and will be refunding a small amount. Not sure it was the right amount, but A for effort in following up. Person that called me was very friendly and seemed to really care, which was a 180 degree change to the in store guys. Overall would have been much better to have great service and no overcharge in the first place. Mistakes happen, but a service oriented attitude isn't typically something that flips on and off. Their follow up team seems to have the right attitude, so they should get more of that into this store. read more

When I walked in to snorkel bobs I was greeted with a pleasant atmosphere and a friendly shop keeper who I soon found out was bob. He was very nice to me and my family and quickly fitted us for snorkel gear and gave us a map and de-fogger for the masks. The prices were very reasonable for two days we paid 25 dollars a person with the option to return them the day after we rented them. When I went to return them I was in a hurry, and he swiftly got all of are stuff together so we could leave. His granddaughter was very cute, would recommend. read more

Disappointing service - we came in to either rent or buy a snorkel set and wanted to learn what they had on offer. When I asked about the features of the snorkel they had on the wall the older guy who was helping us out said "it's a snorkel." That's it. My partner wanted to know whether they had upgrade options but the guy was clearly not interested in telling us about what they had on offer. When I said "thanks, we'll just rent through our hotel," he didn't even say goodbye or "have a nice day" as we walked out - not a word. In stark contrast to the warmth of every other service experience I've had in Hawaii. We took our business to a great shop down the road in Waikoloa village where they were super helpful in explaining the different options available. read more

All we did was come to this location and return our gear, which should be an easy and fast process. Instead, in the short time we were here, we we found ourselves dealing with a ridiculously snarky guy full of attitude. The older man that works here definitely does not excel in customer service. He should seriously consider dropping the attitude. We got our gear at the Kailua Kona location and had an amazing experience. The lady that works there was incredibly helpful both times we visited. If you want to visit Snorkel Bob, go to the Kailua Kona location instead. This location sucks. read more

We absolutely loved this rental location. The man who helped us was extremely friendly with everything from picking out the right size shoe to suggesting locations for us. The good: Customer service was really good. The guy obviously knew a lot about the equipment and has a lot of experience snorkeling; he was able to help us choose our gear and he also had some great suggestions about places for beginners to go snorkeling. The bad: Classic bait and switch. The advertisements for this place say you can get snorkeling gear for $9/week, then it shows pictures of some normal snorkel masks and fins. When you get there, you realize that the $9/week gets you the super old-school oval mask with rubber sealing that leaks (per the guy at the shop).. In order to get the equipment pictured in the ad, that actually works, it was more like $35/week. Had we known there was a Snorkel Bob's location at the Mauna Lani shopping center, we wouldn't have to drive to Ali'i Drive location along 19 South (about 20+ miles from our resort) to rent our snorkel gear. On the first day when we went to the other location, Kenny told us about this location and that we could return our gear here instead of driving down South again. Turns out that one of the life preservers wasn't inflating and so the next day we came to this location to exchange the damaged life preserver. Peter who was managing the store then told us how to properly inflate the life preserver, duh! Kenny! correct instructions would have helped. 3 cheers for Peter: he was extremely friendly, very helpful, gave us some really cool tips and also shared some lychees from his backyard! He also helped us book our Captain Cook tour which turned out to be fantastic btw! There was someone else who was also working there, her name was Renelyn (sorry if I got the spelling wrong) but she was helpful too and told us how to get to Beach 69! I vacationed to the Mauna Lani this last March for a vacation I didn't have much time to plan for. I was referred to Snorkel Bob's (the location in the Shops at Mauna Lani) and was very happy with their service. The first day I was there I knew I needed to get snorkel gear so that I could start my week of adventures! The employee was very helpful and gave me tips on where to find great beaches! I was very impressed by the organization and cleanliness of all the products as well! I was just very happy because Snorkel Bob's set me up with an amazing gear and great service. 2 friends and I rented snorkel equipment for the week for $35. You can get subpar equipment for $25, but I recommend paying the extra price for the fitted mask and better snorkel. When we initially dealt with Peter, he was very attentive and considerate. We later returned and dealt with another older gentleman. My friend had been having issues with her mask filling with water and he was just very rude to her, being condescending and sarcastic. The customer service was terrible. We also booked a boat excursion to see wild dolphins through Snorkel Bob's for 2 people and at $140 each, we were told we would have to fight over 1 free turtle bag. Really, we couldn't receive 2 tote bags after spending over $280 at the store? I wish Peter had been there when we returned, as I feel like we would've received better customer service. read more
