After paying him $830 a friend of mine told me that that is baloney that these are closed systems and there must be a leak. I called them back they sent someone out determined there were two leaks (why didn't they figure that out in the beginning?) and that it would cost another $1830 to fix the leaks. Understandably wary, I contacted another company who came out and fixed the system for $820 total. They also told me that the parts were covered by warranty which Aire Serve neglected to mention. I believe with all my heart that they were taking advantage of what they thought was a stupid elderly woman. I am a realtor in the Branson area and I love helping my clients find good reputable companies. This is not one of them.

I decided on Daryl's because he is a service company for Carrier products, which is what I have. We talked for a while and I made an appointment for a service call the next day. Two service techs showed up the next day for an inspection and service of the unit. They did in fact point out a problem with the exhaust flue and the air flow and said Daryl would send me an estimate to change out the flue pipe from a single wall to a double wall pipe. While the tech's did a fine job of cleaning the unit and inspecting the critical parts, after they left, over the course of the day, I noticed the thermostat need to be calibrated, as there was a substantial difference between the 'set point' for heat and the point at which the heat actually came on. I called Daryl the next day and asked for the techs to come back. He told me they would not come back out this way to calibrate the thermostat, unless he had a truck in the area, as there were just to many people with a more serious problem. Well, here it is, 6 Dec, and I have not heard one word, nor has he sent an estimate to change out the flue pipe. Fortunately I found the support site for the thermostat, and they helped me calibrate the thermostat over the phone. It's sad that a business expects me to do my part and pay my bill, but they have no interest if following up on taking care of the total problem. I will not be calling him again for any future needs.

Tech said my capacitor was bad so he replaced it and it didn't fix the problem. Next he attached a garden hose to the compressor and ran water over it for several minutes. Still no improvement. Told me the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced and because the unit was old, several other components as well. $6000. I told him I needed to think about it. $89 for service call. I contacted another AC company and since he had just had a cancellation he was able to come quickly as well. 20 minutes later the AC is running and cooling my 94 degree house. $90 for the service call no parts needed. It was a loose wire. So I got an$89 lesson from NOW and a $90 repair from the second company. I do not recommend NOW and will not be calling again.
