Tequila lollipops with a real worm
    Tanya Y.

I was on a quest to find a handful of the most El Paso things I could possibly find and surprisingly that is actually a pretty daunting task. It wasn't enough that it had to be made locally, but I also wanted it to represent El Paso in a way that was more than a t-shirt or religious crucifix. And So El Paso definitely has locally made El Paso t-shirts and crucifixes, but they also have so much more. Like so much more. I gave the room the twice over because I didn't want to miss anything, but somehow the woman working was able to point out something new to me every minute or so. The big appeal for me was the Jalapeno Pecan brittle which is locally made, but come on... Jalapeno. Pecan. Brittle. Sounds crazy, tastes delicious, and is the epitome of El Paso flavor favorites. And yes, I tasted it in the store because they also offer samples. I also picked up some bags of their Picks Up Popcorn (orange and blue kettle corn), El Paso wine stoppers, fancy boot key chains, and tequila lollipops. The tequila lollipops are a game changer. Not only are they tequila lollipops, but they also have a real worm inside... say what?! Too cool. I love that they have a variety of items and every time you look at one you can't help but think "That's so El Paso". There's a lot in there that can be appealing for the day to day shopper (like their salsas and the popcorn) and it's a perfect stop for anyone looking to get someone a gift. The pricing was great and it's all locally made in the area. Also they gift wrap!

What a super cute shop! They had a lot of snacks available which is fun. I bought coffee and loved it. The souvenir type items weren't my style but they were still nice to browse. It's very colorful in here which has a rich El Paso charm. The owner was an absolute doll and gave us lots of local recommendations for things to and places to go! If you see the brittle, buy the brittle.

    Sugar skulls galore!

A wonderful store for El Paso souvenirs and local pride! I loved the variety of hats, shirts/sweatshirts, postcards, magnets, shot glasses, sugar skulls, snacks, and WAY more they had to offer. The best part though was the salesclerk Kelly. She truly loves her city and her town and it shows! Come here for great buys, good snacks, great suggestions, and everything El Paso!

A very limited, small collection of items. It is as small as the brochure shows

Cute shop. Slightly limited on items but had exactly what we needed! A cute onesie for my nephew.

Got to taste the salsa at a Million Cups event last week. They are the real deal! Lot of fakes in the grocery aisles these day!

I came to get a going away gift for her co-worker. My mom specifically wanted a trivet. A trivet is used under a hot plate while serving food. It prevents the table from getting any damage due to the heat from the hot plate. This trivet is made out of ceramic or porcelain. I didn't even know what it really was until I looked it up. Lol. I did but I didn't know that was the proper name for it. My mom requested a specific trivet. This one has a photo of the star on the mountain here in El Paso. People say whenever you see the star on the mountain, you know you're home :) I have to agree with that. There is no place like home or El Paso. It's a very unique place. Anyway... This market sells items like homemade soaps, chapstick, home decor, art and more. The trivet was $18 plus tax. Proceeds go toward the 8-3 shooting victims. A local photographer sells these items, along with more of her art and photography. I wouldn't mind having a meal at the bistro sometime. The staff from the bistro were very nice and polite. The customer service at the market place could've been a little bit better. The two women there were helpful but not entirely friendly. Overall an ok transaction.

Local art, pretty unique jewelry (necklaces, rings, earrings) and headbands/tiaras. Funny taxidermy and preserved butterflies were there as well. An eclectic type of store and the shop owner lets you browse around in peace. Welcoming and not pushy on sales at all. We ended up buying sage and they have all sorts of fresh apothecary things (Palo santo etc.) If you're curious take a step inside and check it out you may find a treasure you just HAVE to take home! I will def. be back!

There's two kinds of people in the world, the squeamish and the one's pretending not to be squeamish (because come on, we are all afraid of something). I find myself in the openly squeamish group. But I still rather enjoy DT and the occasional goosebumps it gives me. I've been a few times now and I always find myself drawn to the preserved animals. From talking to the owner I know that these animals were not harmed or purposefully endangered in any way, DT just creates art, if you will, from natural death. They do give me the creeps and the worn dolls that adorn the bureau give it that added element of stomach, turning fear (thank you Child's Play and Tales From The Hood). There are also less creepy, but equally intriguing items at DT like shirts with EP inspired themes, purses, handmade jewelry (I picked up a sweet heart with nails and barbed wire necklace last time I was here), cat trinkets, and paintings. Explore and see what cool items you find. Along with the lively owner, you can seek help from her wonderful minions or the guy in the back that isn't very helpful and a bit of a snake. I prefer the minions who will hand you things and make you deeply consider adding it to your home decorations. I'd say the minion's are very animated even though their vocabulary is only that of a three or four year old, but they drive a hard sell and will help you look for anything. Not sure how many days of the week the minions work, but the snake is there all the time so you may just have to deal with him.
