Okey dokey...let's try this! 8 Hearts is conveniently located in the Macadams area in the Water Tower complex. Easy breezy parking and a very nice location. It took a few weeks for my initial appointment but it was worth the wait. I arrived and briefly met Dr. Natasha and then Emily. I completed a in depth questionnaire about my health status and then Emily took me in to her relaxing, comfortable space. Emily took the time to get to know me, which I appreciated. We focused on the most pressing issues, my problematic shoulder specifically. My first acupuncture focused on my shoulder but the insertion of the needles was all over my body. I admit, I was fascinated about how the different pressure points correlated to different body parts. I had done my homework and knew that it would take several visits before I would really know if it was making a difference. Appointment one. I was surprised that the needles really didn't hurt. No biggie. Appointment two? Cupping. Yeah, Google "cupping". It friggin involves fire. Maybe an over reaction...really just a flame. Emily uses it to take the air out of the cup and then applies the cup to whatever body part you're having issues with. I'm not going to lie. It hurt like a mother and creates some dark bruises. But, with that being said, I LOVE IT! During the process, the cups draw up old blood and lymph. If it hurt too much, Emily would lessen the suction. I have been to Eight Hearts six times or so. I am now a believer and look forward to my appointments. I am on a three week schedule now and the time between appointments will continue to grow. I'm a fan. They, and especially Emily, rock.

Because she's literally and physically, "SPOT ON" with where she has the ability to find my pain. Here's my short issue: Lower back pains; Strains in my L and S area, but luckily no sciatic pain down my leg. I started having lower back pain about 5 years. I had done a cortisone shot the first year, but that only gave me relief for a year. Did another shot a second year, and no "instant" relief or any relief at all. I was puzzled and upset. Third year, started doing physical therapy, yet the pain would not go away. My doctor tells me, I'm gonna need to live with lower back pain and manage it (eye-roller). So, as a last resort, I thought I'd give acupuncture a try because I knew it had helped me in the past. Found Dr Joy online, and easily scheduled a screening session. With my first visit, she listened to me, found where my pain was located, and questioned me on how I got to this point. Its like she understood my pain spots, what points to hit, and how to relieve it. After the first session, my lower back had felt ten times better than before! And now, the lower back pain is nearly gone! With that, I made Dr Joy my regular acupuncturist. Her office is small, but has two rooms. Both of them have clean acupuncture tables set up. Regarding insurance claims or issues, she would let me know beforehand. My previous acupuncturist had issues with my insurance, which was why I stopped going to him. Her office is close to me, so I'm sticking with her! If you've got pain that won't go away, give acupuncture a try, and I highly recommend Dr Joy!

Henry was able to get to the parts / pains of my body and I could literally feel it dissipating as he did the work. Then, I had the owner, Michelle, complete my visit with acupuncture.
