We accidentally stumbled upon this shop while exploring the area, and wow what a unique find! The store is filled with all kinds of interesting treasures, handmade items, crystals, and other shiny things that are fun to browse, even if you're just window shopping. The prices were on the higher side, but that's understandable since many of the items are handmade or custom made. One thing we thought was really cool was that they offer free arrowheads, which was a fun and unexpected touch. We didn't end up purchasing anything ourselves, but we still enjoyed stopping in and looking around. We visited this shop a couple years ago and wished we had bought a particular item at the time. So, on our visit this year, we went back. We had enjoyable conversations with the men working there. Yes, the more they sell the more money they make, so pressure selling is expected in a shop geared for tourists. Like we do in most shops we say no thanks, and leave. But we wanted something to commemorate our Alaska cruise, so we took our time. After finding what we wanted, agreeing on the discounts, after finding out we purchased something from their sister store in Sitka, he even subtracted that amount. We know things are marked up, and they still make money with each sale, but in the end, it is our decision to buy or not. Now, we just have to wait for our items to arrive this fall, hopefully. read more

I stopped by Soaring Eagle today and was greeted with absolute amazing conversation. Conversations about the art, the jewelry, and their delivery services all across the nation. I walked away with a beautiful heart shaped sterling silver ring that I will cherish for a lifetime. So grateful I stopped in this store on my way out of port. read more

WARNING - This place is a scam and you should not purchase anything from here. Do NOT give them business that they don't deserve. Went on an Alaskan cruise in July and ended up buying an art piece from this shop. The piece was also supposed to come with a lighted base but they said it was backordered so they would need to ship it and it would come at the end of September or October. It is now almost mid-December and we have still not received it. We tried calling the business number many times but no one ever answers. We have also tried messaging them via Instagram but haven't gotten a response either. Tried sending them emails but guess what, their email is not valid. This is the same email they list on all their social medias. Now I see all the reviews warning about them and wish I could've seen them before we made our purchase. I was on a port visit and I purchased a piece of art and was told that it would be shipped in 2 to 3 weeks. I purchased on 20 may and as of 23 Jun it hasn't been shipped. I sent 2 emails requesting a status and they were ignored. I files a complaint with the Alaska consumer protection group and also have submitted a fraud claim to my visa credit card company. After walking from the ship to town wandering around, I needed a place to sit, then I noticed beautiful carved seats in front of Soaring Eagle. After a few mins I decided to walk in and goodness they have such interesting things here, the art and hand work of most of the items in the store are absolutely amazing. my husband purchased a piece that we were told would be delivered in October... I purchased two items of jewelry and they said they would "throw in" matching earrings but they had to make them so when he came out in October he would bring the earrings too. The piece my husband ordered got drop shipped from the manufacturer (no earrings in the package) . No response from anyone on the earrings... very disappointing. i love the ring and necklace and he liked his piece but kinda crappy to promise something and not follow through or even reply. Unbelievable! But in a good way! My wife and I were on a cruise in Alaska in July and popped into this store toward the end of the day. My wife really liked this bowl and we negotiated the price. The guy told me the price included delivery. Not "shipping" but actual delivery. They told us they would be at our house to hand deliver at the end of September. When we walked out of the store I looked at my wife and said "50/50 we ever see these dudes again. Well, I got a text about a week ago that they were on their way to Southern California and tonight they showed up with our bowl. Who does that?!?! Amazing and what a nice guy he was. RIP OFF. June 5th 2024 bought a piece of art work for several thousands of dollars to be hand delivered in October to our home. Sal called when in the area but never delivered it when we think he realized we were not going to buy more from his car. Several other people have had the same experience. We bought and had it shipped back to the states without any hassles. No pressure sales here. Had fun being a tourist shopper. The Art piece got to my place intact on time and without damage. Very well-packed. Fair price for shipping and handling. Overall, an enjoyable experience. When it comes to artwork, Beauty and prices are in the eye of the beholder. BEWARE!! We purchased a custom table and chairs from Soaring Eagle in Oct of 2022. We were told it would be delivered for free, but we had to wait 1 year for delivery. In September of 2023, only the table was delivered. We were told they had 5 trucks delivering all over the country and when they found them they would either be shipped or delivered. When we spoke to Sal he was very update at the price we paid. He said it was worth much more, and how we should know what a "deal" we got. We continued weekly contact and finally he said he found 2 of the 4 chairs. He stopped contact in November 2023. I have since contacted my credit card company and filed a complaint when they credited me some of the cost. Omg, we had the BEST experience last week with Sam and his coworkers here. Easily the most fun and informative shop we visited. They have a beautiful, vast, and amazing selection of jewelry, turquoise and spiny oyster and opal and mother of pearl and larimar and lapis and topaz and amber and gold quartz and more. They all know their stuff, like REALLY know it, Sam was able to name the jewelry maker for every piece as well as creation techniques, symbolism, history, and so much more. Best of all, neither Sam nor any other salespeople at the shop were pushy or aggressive. We are on a cruise, (and for those of you who have ever been on one, youll know that the shops the cruise tries to shove you towards are affiliated with the ship, overpriced, and super aggressive regarding sales) and visiting Soaring Eagle was SUCH a breath of fresh air. My husband is a jeweler and an artist himself, and this is one of maybe three places on the entire cruise that actually felt authentic, welcoming, and worth it (both in his professional opinion and my personal one). The prices are also very reasonable. Almost forgot to mention, they have baleen baskets too! Lastly, the shop also has a massive sculpture room (that included a huge sculpture of an owl that looked crazy excited and a little stoned, it was super cute, had to get pics, it was adorbs). Not your typical art/jewelry store. Staff was not pushy and very helpful and friendly. There is so much to look at, you could spend hours in here. Sam is more than willing to tell you everything about any item he has in the store. My wife purchased two bracelets and received a ton of information on how to care for them along with the meaning behind one of them. I would not normally write a review about this type of store, but this place is truly unique not just for its merchandise but also for its staff. They have lovely more local jewelry rather than pieces that are just mass-produced, they did have those pieces as well. Now some were pricey, but when they were handmade I completely understand. I found a lovely green stone that was an earing set and they were reasonably priced, however, I cant wear earings for that long until they bother me. They offered to make them into two pendants for me. I thought that sounded great and I could give the other one to my mom. Sal (I believe his name was) found me a very nice silver chain to go with the pendant and I purchased that as well. If you are looking for a discount bargain place, this isn't it, but let's face it, nothing in the towns where the cruise ships dock is super cheap. They were only slightly salesy, but very friendly and helpful. There was no pressure to buy pieces. This is a beautiful store in Alaska that caters to travelers. Once you leave the store and they mail you your very expensive purchase, everything goes down hill. My 800$ piece arrived damaged. I was told to try steaming it which I was not willing to do.since it was one of a kind, they sent me pictures and I chose something else. I sent back the damaged piece express mail and assumed they were sending me the new one. They also agreed to refund byCheck the 45$ postage. After nothing arrived, I called a few times and a snotty woman told me that nothing was wrong with my piece, although another person saw the pictures I sent with broken feather . She was rude and said it would be 10 more days...... she refused to let me speak to owner. Finally after a month from the start , the new piece arrived with no check for my 45$ postage . I called twice, no response so I filed a claim with Capitalone. An extremely frustrating experience . I think once you leave they feel you are 3000 miles away and will just give up. read more

The experience was wonderful, not high pressure, so enjoyable. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars....reading the reviews below, I was also promised something"extra" and realized when we left the dock, I never received it. If you purchase anything from this store, don't have it shipped. We purchased two jade pieces for $2700 on Sept 2019. Since we were on a cruise we had it shipped. Both wooden boxes were cracked when received. We took videos while we were unwrapping the pieces incase one was damaged. The feather on the eagle was broken (the broken piece was not in the box which makes us believe it was damaged before shipping). I emailed the store; no response. I called and spoke with Sal who remembered us. He offered to deliver a new eagle to us when he was going to be out here 2-3 weeks later. I provided the details of where we can make the exchange. They never called that weekend. Next call is to the credit card company to see if charges can be reversed. I bought a decorative vase and had it shipped to my home. The vase actually arrived before we returned from our cruise. Unfortunately, there was a small chip off of the vase. I called and explained the problem and was told, initially, to just keep it. I explained I paid a large sum for the piece and it should be complete. Sal agreed and said I could have my money back and keep the vase. I explained that I saw another vase at the Skagway location and would rather have that in place of the original. I volunteered to return the original piece. Sal said to keep the original and would see if the other piece was still in the store. It wasn't, so Sal asked if I'd like for the artist to do a replica. I agreed. They send the new piece and told us to keep the damaged one. I was extremely satisfied with the manner in which Sal, representing Soaring Eagle handled the transaction and follow up. Here's the thing about Soaring Eagle. They have beautiful pieces of art, and friendly, apparently knowledgeable staff (I say "apparently" because I don't know anything about the art, so I can't be sure). BUT if you are going to buy from them, be sure to take it with you. My wife and I bought a piece, and we didn't want to take the art piece back on the cruise ship with us. Our salesman assured me that they would ship it to our home. and that we would have it within a week of returning from our Alaskan cruise. Well, one week turned into two weeks which turned into two months. I had to call them repeatedly, and got several excuses ("bad weather" delayed the mail service, plus they claimed they hadn't ordered shipping materials and therefore had to wait a month or so for boxes and shipping materials to arrive before they could ship out). We finally got our art work about 9 weeks later. Nicholas Aysheh, the salesman who helped us -- and who happens to be the president of the company -- told me that due to the delay, they were going to send us a 2nd piece for free, a piece that would supposedly compliment the art work we purchased. I had a wonderful shopping experience at Soaring Eagle Native Arts. I was in town for the day on a cruise vacation and was happy to find some of the locally owned shops selling jewelry and art. I had a lovely discussion with two of their employees about several of the artists they carry work from. Their deep knowledge on the craftsmanship/meaning behind each piece was only matched by their passion for promoting these native artists. The quality of the piece I ended up purchasing was undeniable and I left very excited. I sent several other friends from my cruise to their shop; I couldn't wait to pass on the tip since so many of the other stores near the dock are the same 10 generic fine jewelry shops you will find getting off any cruise ship in any location. I highly recommend these guys! I can't speak to the other reviews where people had trouble getting things shipped, but maybe it's worth talking to them in person about any concerns.
