Unlike some recipients, we actually had a great experience, now that the office is open again after COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. I just needed to sign a paper for my wife to get a portion of my benefits, and establish an account, now that I'm retired. I won't be taking any payments though, as I'm waiting until age 70 to collect my social security pension benefit.

Fast and efficient. Security don't play around with you using your phone because they are dealing with SS numbers.

I was summons to come to the courthouse here, since they had shut the Monrovia Courthouse down a long time ago, due to finance problems. So i eventually payed my ticket and got the infraction taken care of. They have good Judges here that will help you in your situation in making payments if you are having trouble paying fines as well.

The instructions were alright for parking, and the GPS took me to a gated parking lot with no fees for potential jurors. The whole parking situation was easy and free. I walked around the neighboring building which was the courthouse, and upon entering deposited my belongings and went for a quick scan. I was told to report to the 2nd floor for my 9am summons. The security guards here were quite bland; they weren't welcoming and were quite short with words. Interestingly, they are also commonly distracted on their phones. The time was about 9:10am and eventually 9:15am - odd. I thought I was in the wrong place, but there were maybe 40 of us outside a courtroom. Afterwards, a staff member told us we were supposed to check in on the FOURTH floor before coming here. So then 40 of us scrambled into 3 elevators to report to the 4th floor. On the 4th floor, we had a short orientation and were told that we had free time until 10am. Great, what should we do with 40 minutes to kill? I napped in my car. All 40 of us later returned at 10am, and eventually the staff member receives a call from the judge. Afterwards at 10:15am, the staff member finally informs us that the case does not need a jury and we were all dismissed. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed getting out of jury duty. However, 40 people showing up to a case that didn't need a jury was a huge inconvenience.

Good afternoon, I…read morehope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally express concern regarding a recent interaction I had with an employee at the Los Angeles County Development Authority, identified as Jennifer Ramirez. I want to begin by acknowledging that my prior experiences with your office have been positive and professional. However, this particular interaction was deeply concerning and did not reflect the level of service I have previously encountered. Individuals who reach out to your agency are often facing urgent and life-altering circumstances, including the risk of homelessness, financial hardship, and housing instability. Many endure long wait times just to speak with a representative, placing a significant level of trust in that interaction. During my call, I was repeatedly interrupted and not given a fair opportunity to fully explain my situation. The tone used was dismissive, impatient, and lacked the empathy and professionalism that is essential in a public service role. In these environments, communication is not simply a courtesy--it is a responsibility. As a publicly funded agency serving vulnerable populations, there is a reasonable expectation of professionalism, respectful communication, and equitable treatment. When these standards are not upheld, it can create additional barriers for individuals already navigating difficult circumstances. This concern is not raised lightly. It is important that individuals seeking assistance feel heard, respected, and supported--especially in moments where stability and guidance are critical. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and that appropriate steps be taken to ensure that all client interactions reflect the standards expected of your organization. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Then I drove from work to this SSA Location, i got there around 11:45pm. They called my number by 12:15 and I was out of there by 12:25. We first thought this was going to be a long and painful process, but it was fairly simple. I would give yourself an hour at the SSA. The person assisting was really nice and helpful. He was also very quick at getting everything into the computer system. Wednesdays they close at 12pm! SO you want to be in the BUILDING no later than 11:59! they wont let people back into the building if you step out!. They are very strict about closing time. As long as you're in the building before the door closes, they will assist you. Don't forget to check into the computer for a number

Upon entering this office, the very friendly security guard advised me that an appointment was required to enter the building and that no one would see me without one. The guard handed me a card with the number to call to make an appointment. I did not have an appointment, so I left and sat in my truck, trying to make one by phone. I dialed the number on the card the security guard gave me. I received a recorded message that they were busy and it would be many minutes before an agent could assist me. I waited, waited, and waited some more. When the waiting time hit thirty minutes. I was done, frustrated, and left, never having asked any questions about my issue. I'll try again sometime. For now, time to have lunch
