October 14 I had a scheduled appointment at 1140 am. Security stopped me at the door and after I gave my name and bar code he said " you are not on my list, goodbye!!! Next. I said my email has this address, he abruptly cut me off and asked where I live. I told him Palm Coast Florida,.... Again he cut me off, Palm Coast Residents go to Port Orange !!!! All I need is to re new my social security card. He would not allow me to cross the entrance door. I got home, looked at my email again and read St Augustine Florida appointment. I called the Central social security office to inquire about my confusion? They checked and as expected couldn't locate my information. However they said yes Palm Coast Resident's need to drive 2 hours to Port Orange, St Augustine being a 20 minute drive is not in my jurisdiction? So please tell me again why I was sent an email for st Augustine and treated like a criminal? I tried on line and was re routed to a 3rd party site requesting $ 100 dollars to get a. Social security card. thats why I wanted to speak directly to someone and have it done. Social security cards are free... What a horrible experience... I do not recommend this office. read more

Go to a different location if you can!! I did and it was much better!! St Augustine location is worse than "Mean Girls". I'd give zero stars if possible. She was accusatorial telling me I made the wrong appointment when SSA.gov National 800# made the appointment for me. She was very aggressive and every time I tried to speak or ask a question she cut me off and not one question answered. I recognized it was her issue and I simply let her continue insulting and looking at her computer until she asked me a yes/no question. I left with all my documentation and no progress. Rebooked up in Jax. FYI it was a simple task, not a difficult issue.. I described it to someone that it felt like I was blindfolded, dropped into a boxing ring, "punched" three times above my weight class before I figured out what was going on. Oh, and she doubted my citizenship with repeated questions even with my passport lying on the desk and my answers to her haranguing. You fill-in-the-blanks. read more

The m********s simply won't answer the phone or let you leave a message. They called me on Monday and left a voicemail for me to call back. It is now Thursday, and I have tried to call them back OVER 75 TIMES the past few days. 75 times. Every single time, they have either told me to try again later in the day and hung up on me, or, new today! -- they put me on hold for exactly 17 minutes and THEN tell me to to call back later in the day and hung up. It's an absolute nightmare. read more

Horrible experience! It says online nothing about having to have an appointment, but then they won't even look at what you have when you get there if you don't have an appointment. They are EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. There's also no way to contact them and I still have been unable to find out how to schedule online. I would rather drive an hour to a different office than deal with this office again. read more

Went all the way out there, 45 minute drive, to be told I needed an appointment. That was a few weeks ago. Left, made said appointment. Drove all the way out there AGAIN and was met at the door with a sign saying they were closed due to the weather. Okay. Fair enough. But they texted me the night before and the morning of and neither of those texts said they were closing. Oh and no nobody answers the phone because I tried to find out. Guy comes to the door, is apparently leaving, and says, "come back tomorrow if you had an appointment and we will honor it". So...drove all the way back today and walked in and when I was asked by the security guard if I had an appointment I told him about the day before and his answer? "You can try". I got there ten minutes after they opened and it was standing room only. Save your time, gas and PTO and try a different office. This is crazy. read more

Went here on a Monday. According to the security guard it's common knowledge to not go in on Mondays or Fridays because "it's their busiest day." Everyone who walked through the door yesterday was turned away we weren't even in the door for a second before you were basically shoved back out the front door to wait in a long line outside in the middle of the afternoon. "You have to have an appointment. We're always busy on Mondays people should know this by now. Come back Wednesday or Thursday. You'll be waiting two hours if you try to stay today." Just rude, judging by the other reviews they're not the friendliest staff. Not everyone goes into the social security office everyday! In my 22 years this was my very first time. Have some better customer service! They act like you're a criminal as soon as you get in the door. The staff is highly unprofessional. If appointments are required it should be noted online but it's clearly not. Once you scan the QR code once you're at the social security office you have to go down a rabbit hole of making an appointment it's not easy at all. I worked a few years France then returned to the USA. I am entitled and now want to receive French SSA. I have to apply through my local USA SSA office and all they have to do is forward it to France. This worked with no problem for my husband and he is now receiving payments from France. My application for some reason was stuck with Ms. McClane in St. Augustine for a year. I have tried calling the local SSA office and the national. The local office office often does not answer or says try again later. Once they answered and said I need to speak to Ms. McClane. I left a message she never called back. The national office says they can do nothing except say that the St. Augustine office got my form. Now after more than a year, the local office said they never received my form, when before they told me they had received it !! Did Ms. McClane delete or destroy it to hide her incompetence? You have to have an appointment, but you don't know that until you get to the door. Good luck figuring out how to make the appointment online too. It's completely buried. They have plenty of appointments available, but will make you come back. They're also incredibly rude about it and do not understand how to make exceptions based on situations. Had the security guard standing there to make sure this 9 month pregnant woman left. Horrible horrible service and management. Go to Port Orange if you can. The worst incompetent agents. I have never had such a horrible experience as I have had with this office. Unorganized, unprofessional, retaliatory, poor attitude, and rude. They enjoy lying over and over again. Audiotape your calls. You are not allowed to ask a question without getting hung up on. If you call them out they get mad. They send your money to nowhere for months and say it will work itself out. Complete incompetency. read more

Ms McClane is very rude. hands moving around and cutting you off. felt like I was in NY for a minute.. so after making a new mandatory appt I was t aware was needed since November. so I went back and I wasn't given a form to bring filled out nor was I provided what I should bring if I don't have certain documents. Ms. McClaane was very happy to spell her name and just nasty. she needs training or another job. she definitely appear d to come from up north with her arrogant attitude. But I had good service in past from a nice man. And on my follow up today Ms. Gause was very helpful and kind. she provided me necessary info of what I needed. Though after I left I was not sure what certified documents and how to ensure it was correct prior to coming back and I was unable to complete my task In timely mMmet before they closed. So tha was due to the poor service I received from Ms. McClaine on end of last week. It created a great inconvenience and have to go back another day now& basically wasting gas and mileage for 45 minutes each way travel time. read more
