We have been having parking issues for years, and as my parents got older, their health had gotten worse. We needed to be able to drive up to the porch, or park directly in front of the house, and sometimes, that's not possible. I reached out to the city, and was put in contact with Vanessa, and she explained the process so clearly. She even personally delivered the money order for the fee to my Mom's home, because payment cannot be accepted until it has been approved by the board. I was able to watch the board meeting, and learn the extended process, and hear when it was approved. I didn't have to continuously hassle her about updates. She communicated thoroughly. She provided a time frame of when the signs would be installed, and sure enough, it was done. LaMont and Harris was right on time. It took them no time to install the signs, and they were very professional. They also understood the reason for the signs, and mentioned how neighbors used to be, and how we are all working towards a Greater Gary. They offered their prayers for my Mom, and went about their way. Thank you to the City of Gary Public Works Department for a job well done from start to finish!! That's what I'm talking about! #Garyrocks!

They state it has to be after the temp plate expires. All paperwork is in order. I go to get temp and they deny me this time because I'm not the owner. Funny, 30 days ago it was ok. My son explained I would be the one coming in again, and they said no worries. Now im there and no deal and now he doesn't have a legal vehicle and will have to take off work to figure it out. I understand why they denied me, but why was I able the 1st time and why did they say it would be OK yesterday, but its not OK today.

Abigail was especially helpful and friendly and even though I was in a wheelchair everywhere in the building people opened the door for me and treated me with respect, as they did the other older lady like me in a walker. Highly recommend - this was the first time visiting here and the other DMVs we had been to were much slower and tedious.

They may arrest you. You can be slapped with a citation for no real reason even if you are not in the state at the time. People speeding/running stop signs/outlandish noise in residential....they're too busy even with all their officers. Have a neighbor who is a cop? Expect them to get away with anything. Compassion-nope! Fairness-negative. I'm disappointed to say I am not impressed. I have always held cops to a higher standard & up until this department they have met those standards & some have surpassed them. This department needs a lesson on working with society. Not everyone is a criminal. Most are tax payers who want the best for their community. They have a long way to go before they meet my expectations. Just my Yelp opinion.
