After we…read morepurchased the home, a very costly, avoidable and serious issue came up with our home after the sale, that required us to hire an attorney to handle as a result of Stockman Title and our realtor. Very important and critical conversations and e-mails were exchanged between the Atoka realtor and the title company that we were never even privy too. We find this very unethical. We were purchasing the home and why were we not included in these conversations and e-mails?  Again, we were not included in these e-mails and conversations. We were the homebuyer's signing our lives away. Because of this single conversation that we were not privy too, a very important transaction as part of a home purchase was not conducted, and resulted in us having to hire an attorney, costing us a lot of money. Our attorney had to resolve this issue, which was lengthy and which could have been totally avoided if we were included in these conversations. Never once did Stockman Title explain anything to us about this specific item, even though he took our money for specific insurance coverage, if this issue and/or item should occur. We had advised Stockman Title since the beginning of the transaction, that we wanted to purchase additional title insurance coverage. We found out later, that the title company insurance coverage would deny the claim based on this unexplained item not being performed during the home purchase transaction. Our attorney had to resolve this matter which was very lengthy and costly. Our attorney has sent letters to Stockman Title and our realtor based on this issue. Stockman did respond, which we have to say is better than that of our realtor and broker. However, he does not accept any responsibility and advised that our realtor informed him that we did not want to perform this item, even though we never said that and were again, not included in any of these conversations. We have previously purchased 2 other homes and the title company always spoke with us directly. We were never excluded from any conversations- or emails. If we were included in this conversation, this never would have happened. In our other home purchases, the title company/agent automatically ordered this item, which is why we were not aware of how important this item was. Stockman Title contends that they were given misinformation by our realtor and why did they both again, not include us in or verify this information. Be very careful when choosing to deal with this company.  We would hate to see this happen to someone else.  As a result, we had to hire an attorney and pay his fees to rectify this unfortunate and avoidable situation that we never should not have been in.  As a buyer, you hire these professionals (Stockman was highly recommended by our realtor) and pay them to do their jobs and protect your interests, as they are the experts. If we knew it all, then why would we need Realtors and Title Companies?

I have updated my review from 1 to 3 stars because he offered to have a conversation about my situation and gave me some feedback. As requested, I considered removing my review but since I can see from Yelp reviews that this is not an uncommon type of incident, I am leaving it here for anyone else - like myself - may not have time to wait for the day of the appointment to find out if they can get legal counsel about a potentially urgent matter. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BEWARE of the tentative/pending appointment!! I have a legal plan through work and this firm was provided for me. I called to make an appointment and was told my appointment, for the following week, was tentative and that I would get an email to let me know if the appointment was accepted or not. I asked when I would find out and was told it would likely be in the next 24 hours. I asked what would determine if it was accepted and was told it was usually just a scheduling decision. So when it was just 2 days away from the appointment, I still had not received any response. I called and was told by reception that they would let the attorney know I called. ON THE MORNING OF THE APPOINTMENT, I received an email that my appointment was declined. This is an unacceptable way to do business. My issue was becoming urgent and I didn't expect this kind of treatment.

We had a negative experience with CFC. I have never had to write a negative review for any business…read morebefore, but hope this is useful to other families. We are two dads looking to expand our family. So we hired CFC, Diane was charming, we signed the various documents they provided, and then waited. Very early on, before we even signed with our surrogate, we became alarmed by two issues. 1. We felt the surrogate's behavior would have put the health of our child at risk. And 2. Concern over the quality of the legal work (and weirdly the demeanor) of CFC's lawyer working with us. Our concerns were serious enough that we felt we had no choice but to fire CFC. CFC's agreement that you sign is structured such that you pay only those fees that CFC has "earned". That sounds great. CFC proudly bills this feature on their website. The problem is, CFC has aggressively front-loaded those fees such that even before you sign an agreement with your matched surrogate, CFC claims it has "earned" over 30,000 dollars. This means that once you sign with CFC, even before you sign with your surrogate, CFC can walk away with over 30,000 dollars - no matter how bad a job they do, no matter how careless they are, no matter how unsuitable you discover your matched surrogate is. What value did CFC actually provide? In our case, they generated a partially negotiated contract that nobody signed, and they matched us with a surrogate who we fear was a health risk. Given our negative experience with CFC, we asked for a full refund. Instead, CFC sent back an 8-page termination contract, where they offered to refund a small portion of the fees in exchange for essentially a gag order or NDA where we would be legally blocked indefinitely from ever discussing our experience with CFC. We rejected it. It made us wonder how many other parents have also had negative experiences with CFC, but signed this sort of silence agreement such that parents like us never got to hear the warning signs. We hope this information helps other families decide whether to work with this company, and we wish you the best of luck building your family. PS: This was the second time we worked with CFC. The first time went better, not without some frustration, but certainly not bad enough that we felt we had to complain or fire them. When it was all over, CFC asked us multiple times to post perfect scoring reviews. A few years later, we decided to try for a sibling. When discussing whether to hire CFC again, we decided we were already familiar with their process and "how bad could it be". So we went for it. The rest you can read above.
